1 1. The Death

Khalid was stunned to see the body lying stiff in front of him. Two-year-old woman.

He had a girlfriend who just two hours ago had a single accident after hitting the road. The police who were still in the morgue gave information that the car that Mutia was driving had a brake failure due to sabotage by irresponsible persons.

Khalid scratched his head non-itchy. He plans to cut ties with Mutia on his twenty-twentieth birthday. But God willed otherwise. God prefers to take Mutia before Khalid's decision.

"Is your name Khalid?" A young woman asked Khalid who was looking at Mutia. Instead of answering, Khalid looked at the woman with sharp eyes. He was surprised at the woman who had just greeted him. Her face is beautiful but her voice is spicy like cayenne pepper mixed without salt.

"She left this for you."

The woman held out a black envelope into Khalid's hand. Khalid accepted the envelope the woman had given him and put it in his trouser pocket without any interest in opening it.

"It's true what Mutia told me that her lover is very cold. No wonder my cousin can't live much longer thinking about you, Master."

Khalid snorted harshly. He wanted to strangle the woman in front of him by the neck, but he didn't. Only his hands clenched into fists to channel his anger.

Seeing Khalid's behavior, Amira smiled. She knew how to deal with an arrogant guy like Khalid. If she gave up and was weak, Khalid would surely belittle her existence. Like Mutia, a cousin who always comes to tell the state of her relationship with Khalid. She was oppressed as if she had received no attention at all from Khalid, who she said had been dating her for two years. Not the intimacy that Mutia gets, but the rigidity of Khalid's attitude which is like Mount Everest.

"I'm Amira, Mutia's cousin," she said. Khalid didn't see Mutia at all. He refuses to stare at a woman he doesn't know. Watching Amira as she held out the paper to him alone, he knew how she was. I have no idea. Khalid felt that his ability to read other people's faces was so good that once he saw it, he seemed to know the character of the person.

"She said she wanted to stop her relationship with you yesterday. Turns out she did." Amira continued slowly as if she refused to be heard by anyone.

Khalid was surprised by Amira's confession about Mutia who said she wanted to end their relationship. Indirectly, they have the same intentions with each other and have the same judgment about each other.

If Mutia feels unnoticed by Khalid, Khalid also feels the same. During these two years, he felt that he was the only one who was the main actor in dating. He always accepted Mutia's spoiled attitude naturally. Not only spoiled, but Mutia's demands on Khalid's time also make him feel like a buffalo that fits his nose. No freedom at all.

"I'm not the culprit of this accident. If you think I did it, you're wrong."

"I know. But at least, isn't there some empathy you have for her?"

"I empathize."

"Where is the proof? I don't even see your sadness at all."

"Heh," Khalid stepped over to his lover's corpse and removed the veil. He turned his face away when he saw how devastated Mutia's face was until she no longer recognized the owner of the beautiful face that had filled his heart for two years. only the clothes that Mutia wears that he knows because he bought them.

Khalid re-covered Mutia and walked out of the morgue with a pounding heart. Sad and happy mixed into one. sad because her lover died in an incredibly horrible condition, happy because she didn't have to bother breaking up and hurting Mutia for too long.

"Am I wick?" he thought. He shook his head as if answering his question.

"It's not my fault," he mumbled. Despite muttering, Amira who was still following him was able to hear it.

"You stubborn bastard. It's just like this you still deny that you are the cause of her death."

"Shut up you girl. I'm not talking to you and I'm not asking for your opinion on the problems that befell your brother. If you speak again, I can't guarantee that I can contain my emotions."

"Good. I will be silent for my cousin's sake."

"What do you mean?"

Amira widened her eyes. She was reluctant to explain how disappointed and angry she and Mutia's family were for Khalid's treatment so far. they are silent because they don't want to hurt Mutia, but the truth is. . . Khalid didn't care at all.

"At least you can last longer to wait for her here. At least until she's washed and shrouded."

"Are you crazy? I didn't even have time to wait for it, let alone to make myself wait for the procession. Not. Please tell Mutia's parents that I can't accompany her."

Slap.

Cinta, Mutia's mother stepped closer to Khalid and Amira without a word, then slapped Khalid hard in the face. Getting Love's slap, Khalid just rubbed his face slowly.

"Thank you for this hard slap. someday you will get retribution for your rudeness to me, madam."

Khalid tries to leave the morgue and ignores Cinta's anger, but Amira's hand stops him.

"Whatever you say I don't care, Khalid. What is clear today, all your words and actions have made the patience that I have been holding back for a long time has run out. If you love my daughter, at least show your sadness over her passing today. not being so arrogant with us." Cinta cries again. Ardian, Mutia's father immediately embraced Cinta's body gently.

"Never mind. Let him be because he is nothing to us.'

"But, is there no love at all for our child in his heart? Why is he still so arrogant when he sees Mutia lying stiff like that? If he doesn't love our child, at least he should be quiet. don't have to talk much, let alone speak sentences that hurt our feelings as Mutia's parents."

Ardian kissed his wife's forehead gently. He tried to calm Cinta, who since hearing about her daughter's death became angry. In contrast to his daily demeanor which is very calm and wise. Amira also did the same. She stroked Cinta's back and looked at Khalid with a sharp gaze as if intimidating the man in front of her not to be rude to the Mutia family.

"Come on! Don't beg and beg for mercy from anyone. I don't like you doing it, lowering yourself just to ask for mercy from him. I am grateful that he doesn't become our son-in-law forever. If he becomes a son-in-law, I'm sure our lives will be in trouble as long as the body is still in the womb."

"You don't love Mutia. Just like that bad boy."

"Why do you compare me to other people?"

"Because you're just the same."
