Basic Training (Part 2)

"That's it! Everyone can stop jogging now!"

Shouted Reiko.

Everybody looked exhausted. I could see Emi panting for air. Natsumi was in the back, catching a breath. The girl in the front looked like she hadn't even started.

"C'mon, that's all y'all got?"

She said.

"You're ranked 3rd in Track & Field so it isn't too bad for you, cadet Sakiko Himura?"

Said Reiko.

This Sakiko girl was apparently a high ranked athlete. No wonder it was so easy for her. Everybody gave her a dirty look, thinking she was showing off. She crossed her arms.

I saw Natsumi walk over by me.

"Hey, was that Emi girl bothering you again?"

Asked Natsumi.

"It's fine, Natsumi. Don't worry about me."

I responded. She then pouted.

"Having us run without even eating breakfast is kind of a stretch, don't ya think?"

Said Emi as she walked closer to me.

"You were trying to make Hiro lose concentration? That's why you were talking to him!"

Said Natsumi.

"What the hell is your obsession with him?"

She responded in an annoyed tone.

I felt like they were about to have a discussion.

"Ok girls, let's just calm down. Let's continue with whatever Reiko wants."

I said trying to defuse them. They were looking at each other like if they wanted to start slapping each other.

"Ok cadets, now we're going to continue with the training. This jogging session was for me to rate your physical conditions, and all of you passed. That's means that all you are subject to more intense training! Don't slow down!"

Reiko said excited.

This is when we started our intense training started. We did push-ups, pull-ups, squats, deadlifts and other exercises. After we got a proper meal, we continued doing these exercises with no problem. This was our basic routine from now on. No one dared to complain, but rather accept it. I had no concern doing them, thanks to my strength and agility. The other guys looked at me with jealousy, which made me a little happy. They didn't know I had trained extensively after joining the Young Killers gang. I still wonder what they think about me disappearing. They know I wouldn't of just ghosted them, as they knew I would have confronted them face to face…

After we did these basic exercises, we started practicing climbing walls, using ropes and climbing fences. According to Reiko, every Self-Defense Forces trainee had gone through these exercises. Many of the girls had difficulties at first, but they got the hang of it. But Sakiko could even beat us guys most of the time. That's a top ranked athlete for you.

"Good work! If all of you keep doing your best, we might reach weapons training faster than I thought!"

Weapons training, huh? So we were actually going to train with guns? Real guns. Never thought I'd hold one in my life. Though, Bleed had said something about getting some smuggled. I wonder if he actually got them.

"But there is a twist! You are all War-Knights. That means that you won't be using guns, but technologically advanced weapons that our engineering team has been working on. I cannot tell you much, but I'll let you see them for yourselves."

Announced Reiko.

Some people looked curious about what these weapons were. I heard some people predicting laser shooting guns, plasma cannons or nuclear-powered suits. It didn't really like the fact that I'd be using "overpowered" weapons. I liked hand-to-hand combat more than anything. I wanted to better my fighting skills, and using weapons would impede me from it. But learning how to use them would at least help me overpower whatever these "technologically advanced weapons" were.
