5 5. Journey's Start

"Okay, Magikarp, all you have to do is follow me and use Tackle on anything I point to. Can you do it?"

"Karp!"

Today Magikarp and I are swimming in the shallow waters around Maui Island. I was having him get some battle experience against the smaller sea life in the area.

I found out he currently knew 3 moves. He knew Splash which was useless so I didn't have him practice it.

He knew tackle which he indicated he learned when he killed a crab.

And he also had a egg move move called flail. But it was also pretty useless so I only had him practice Tackle for now.

Things were going well. It had been two weeks since Magikarp had hatched and I also completed two more wishes using my ability.

I acquired a spatial bag, I would have gone for a ring but I'm not much a fan of jewelry.

I also wished for weighted training gear that gets heavier in proportion to my strength.

It was a set with anklets and bracelets and looked like the set that Rock Lee used in Naruto.

I have been training hard with them using the techniques from the haki manual.

My focus was on training observation while I trained my strength.

To be honest, I haven't been able to sense anything around me while training while blindfolded. I really need the help of another to help me train it.

The manual told me to awaken observation Haki, the best way is to be in danger. Training solo is much harder and requires a lot of focus and meditation.

There are multiple ways to get there, just that some are better than others.

I watched as Magikarp squashed yet another crab, and I didn't even tell him to attack that one. He really just hates crabs... or maybe loves their taste?

Not sure but he is making excellent progress. He has grown a lot bigger and is already as big as a normal human adult.

I'm hoping a few more weeks on a strict training regiment and the continuation of feeding him nutritious food and he will be able to evolve.

When he does we will leaving this island for awhile.

Time flew by quickly once again. In the mornings, I would train my body using the weighted training gear. My strength was increasing slowly but surely, even though I've still made almost no progress on haki.

Then Magikarps training would last a few hours, and then in the after noon we would eat and play together to strengthen our bond.

Of course I made a few more wishes during this time but one was an acoustic guitar to alleviate some boredom and the other was granted leaving me with a yacht.

For now, I set the yacht next to my cave so it doesn't get stolen or taken by the sea. I've also been living inside it since it came with a comfortable cabin with all the amenities.

A toilet, shower and a bed. The things I once took for granted, are now indispensable. Even though I dont need to defecate or urinate with my godly body, I do occasionally choose to take a leak. I'm just amused that my godly body pisses clean water instead of yellow urine.

Magikarp had become quite a beast. He has practiced Tackle to perfection and can roll any of the sea life in the area into an early grave.

And now, with bated breath, I was watching him evolve!

It happened when we strayed a little farther out that usual. A small sea king showed up with the intent to eat us.

Magikarp swimming speed has increased by a very large margin and swam laps around the sea king.

There were times when I thought about jumping in to save him but in the end, Magikarp knocked the thing unconscious with a tackle.

Our momentary celebration ended when he began glowing.

I would have cried with happiness but I was currently underwater so there was no point.

When the light dimmed around Magikarp, there was a majestic blue sea king with a tan scaled belly and horn like spikes on his head and body. A mighty Gyarados!

He was freaking huge now. I expected him to be around 20 meters like what I read normal Gyarados average size to be but I guess the food in the One Piece fueled his growth as he was 30 meters long now.

With a thickness of a school bus and those huge fangs he should be able to easily take down the local sea kings with no effort now.

Probably not the ones in the calm bet though...

"Gyaroo!" Gyarados roared in excitement as we stride back onto Maui Island.

I was dragging the sea king he killed and was gonna prepare a feast. This would be our last day on this island now that Gyarados has evolved.

It was time for us to move on and experience the freedom of adventure.

Of course, I do have a few plans, but mostly we will be going where the flow takes us.

Gyarados and I feasted on the sea king and partied until it got dark. I played my guitar and jammed out playing songs I knew Gyarados danced to the tunes.

We fell asleep in a dogpile with Gyarados curled into a ball and me sleeping draped on his huge body.

The next day we moved the yacht to the sea and I made a harness out of vine rope and a log.

Gyarados just has to bite the log and then can pull the yacht in whatever direction I tell him. The yacht came with a full tank of gas and a spare can in the storage closet but I plan to save gas in case of emergency.

"Gyarados, are you ready? Today we start our adventure."

"Gyar!" Gyarados was also excited. He slithered into the water and grabbed the log in his massive mouth.

I jumped on the boat and then gave him the order. While I checked my compass.

"That way Gyarados."

Gyarados began pulling the yacht while I sat down and meditated. I was just trying to sense the surroundings to train observation.

A few hours later we had arrived to the island I was looking for. I only had to correct Gyarados's course a few times and soon enough we made land on our destination.

I followed the compass needle and quickly found what I was looking for.

It was a pink peach-like devil fruit with swirls that made it kind of look like a brain.

The Smooth-Smooth fruit.

I had a little plan for this fruit. I'm not gonna let the fat Alvida eat it regardless of how hot she would become. No I plan to give this to a girl that deserves it. But I won't meet her until I go visit a certain spooky island.

I always felt that if anyone deserved this devil fruit it would be Lola.

That woman had a heart of gold and was a real ride or die kind of woman. She was fiercely loyal to her crew and people she cared about and kept them safe throughout the time they spent on Thriller Bark.

There is no doubt in my mind that she would be hotter than Big Mom in her prime.

At least that was an idea I stole from a few fanfics I read. And the thought of having a companion with good potential like the daughter of Big Mom was too good to pass up.

After putting the fruit into my storage bag, we were getting ready to leave again when a fat blob flew down from the sky and landed on the island.

"I guess the plot has already started. I should have time to deal with Arlong, by the time Nami and Luffy reach that island, Arlong will be dead, and I'll already be en route to the Grand Line."

I smile wondering if Luffy will still be able to recruit Nami, but I'm willing to bet she will still join the Straw Hats. Luffy's luck is just that good being the MC.

"Gyarados, that way to Conomi Island!"
