Chapter 3 - RNG God!

[A- Alright host! H- Here your daily mission!]

A transparent screen appeared in front of Mai. She takes a look at it and couldn't believe what she saw!

[Daily mission: Help a middle-aged person cross the road (0/1)]

'What?!' She was confused. It so...

[O- Oh yeah, host! I... forgot to tell you, the content of the daily missions is always random. B- But don't worry, they were always possible to do, sometimes... and you don't get penalties from not doing them, host!]

'Random! Yeah, that's the word!' She thought to herself. 'So, every daily mission that I'm gonna do from now on is randomized' It scares her thinking how random it's gonna be. The system said that it possible to do, sometimes. She didn't want to think about that last word implied. Besides, if she deemed it impossible to do, she will not bother doing it anyway even though it's gonna hurt her heart. Because it's daily!

She began to wreck her brain, trying to find a solution about how can she complete this mission. The road is right in front of her orphanage yard, so it's not a problem. But helping someone, a middle-aged person on top of that, to cross the road when she's five years old is... bizarre.

Mai walks around her room while tilting her head upward trying to think of an idea, but found none after minutes of trying. She then decided to walk closer to one of the windows in her room that was facing the street. She takes a look outside, just in time to see an old grandma doing push-ups on the roadside in front of the orphanage. The mission said middle-aged, so she's not sure if an old grandma was included in that category. Also, the grandma looked healthy and it looks like she didn't plan to cross the road anytime soon so she looks elsewhere.

She saw the children of the orphanage were playing with their friends. She dismissed it because they didn't have any connection with her mission. When she looks around once more, she took notice of Bic, busying herself with drying the clothes in the yard. She then got an idea.

Mai then came out of her room then go outside toward Bic. When she's behind Bic, she softly pokes her back with her finger. Bic, feeling someone touching her from behind, turned her head to look at the perpetrator. Mai then quickly grab one of Bic's hands and put it toward her cheek, then tilting her head, trying to act cute even though her face is still in its emotionless state.

"Bic-san, can you go out with me for a moment?" Mai said with her flat tone because she can't do anything about it even though she wants to act cutely. But she makes up for it by rubbing her puffy cheek into Bic's hand that she's holding. Bic suddenly becomes motionless. Mai didn't know if she's successful or not but she looks down to the ground to hide her face because it's embarrassing. just as she thought she's failed, she heard Bic's voice.

"O- Ok!" Bic shuttered. Mai then looks upward, she saw Bic turn her head sideways, blushing. Mai also notices a little bit of blood coming out from her nose.

'Oya~ Oya~, Bic-san, I didn't know that you're such a dangerous person!' Mai thought to herself. She made a mental note to distance herself from Bic a little bit in the future. But for now, she has a mission to complete.

"Follow me please..." Mai said while pulling out Bic's hand and began walking. Bic forgot about her own duty and keep her pace with Mai. They both walked towards the orphanage fence,

"W- Where are we going?" Bic asked curiously. Mai began to think for a second and then she easily got the answer.

"To a place where I really wanted to visit..." Mai answered smoothly. Well, she's not lying whatsoever.

"Is it far?" When they got close to the fence, Bic decided to ask again.

"No, it's close..." Again, Mai answered truthfully from her heart.

They both then got outside of the fence, standing on the roadside because many vehicles are passing by the street. Besides them, is the grandma that Mai sees earlier. She has done doing push-ups and now has started to do pull up using the orphanage fence. When you look closely, the grandma has a pair of cat ears and a cat tail protruding from her butt, it looks like she had a mutant quirk. Mai noticed Bic's eyes twitched a little when she saw the grandma while for Mai herself, she ignores the grandma because she's too focused on her mission.

When the street becomes clear, she quickly pulls out the twitching Bic to cross the street together. Bic just followed, she wondered where she was going to be taken. After they cross the street, a transparent screen appeared in front of Mai showing a notification. Mai noticed that Bic didn't seem to see anything. She focused her eyes on the screen.

[Mission Complete!]

'Yes!' Mai exclaimed in her mind. Even though it's only one, she didn't mind it. She quickly pulls out her arm from Bic's grasp. Before Bic could say anything, Mai already left her alone on the other side of the road and run back to the orphanage because there's no vehicle passing the road. Bic can only hear a small "Thank you Bic-san!" from a distance.

"What?" Bic just stood there, didn't know what to do.

In less than five minutes, Mai is already in her room and locked the door as usual before she sits on her bed.

'Ai-chan, Gacha~ Gacha~ Gacha~' She called the system cheerfully.

[A- Alright host! P- Please don't spam me!]

A transparent screen with a shrine on it appears in front of her for the second time. This time, she didn't care what she got. Even if it only one star, she will accept it with a smile. She also didn't use her manipulation of emotion ability. That's when a miracle happened.

After she presses the gacha button, The light that came out of the screen is not the white-colored from before but rainbow-colored. The intensity is also much brighter than before, it's good that she had learned her lesson from her previous gacha and already covered all the windows in her bedroom.

'This... This is...' Mai was so shocked and her heart skipped a beat. When the light faded, the closed-eyed Mai slowly opened her eyes, full of anticipation. It was then that she look at the notification on her screen.

'Woohooo!!!' Mai was astounded. She pretends to not heard that the chance of getting a five-stars is one in a million. Heck, she thought she was gonna get another one star. Did the gacha has a rate up? No, she didn't remember the system ever told her that. But she'll take it!

Her body shocked a little. Mai thinks it was because of the major increase in her power. She's thankful that it's not hurt. She wondered if the power she has gotten is controlled, so she stands up and picks up a pencil from on top of her desk. It didn't break. She then focused her mind on wanting to break the pencil and the power exerted by her hand increased, manage to broke the pencil into two halves.

'So I can freely control my power' She's really glad about that. If she can't control her power and squashed somebody, that would be kinda bad. 'Well, I got nothing to do now, so let's check my stats'

She turned her head to look at her back just to see the old grandma that was doing pull-ups earlier, stood behind her. It looks like the grandma is following them when they were crossing over the street. Bic looks at the grandma's eyes and saw a look of pity on them. Bic closed her eyes before she smiled brightly at the grandma. Her hand moved. (Redacted!)
