Chapter 28 - Hero Guest!

Tiny specks of dust seemed to dance in the shaft of sunlight that slanted through the window. Another day had dawned, bringing with it new hopes and aspirations.

Mai can be seen laying on her soft bed. Her hair was still that of Kaguya's jet black one, and despite her long hair, they still look very neat even in the current circumstance. The system hasn't wake her up yet, as its host wanted to have more rest for today. Therefore, she was still sleeping, like a little angel.

Of course, this kind of peaceful atmosphere wouldn't last forever. It was bound to be shattered by a third party somehow. Just like what happened when a knock can be heard from the door.

But not just once, it was constant.

"Aauuu..." Grunted Mai in her usual monotone voice. It sounded exceedingly cute, but only her system could listen to it. She just had a dream about her eating a super thick mayonnaise pizza, but it was suddenly intruded by the annoying door-banging sound.

[Ah, host! Good morning! I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to block the noise!]

'It's alright, Ai-chan. That's not your fault!' While saying that, she got out of bed and went into the toilet to do her usual thing. Of course, it wasn't something lewd. After all, she was a self-proclaimed reserved lady.

The next thing she does after she came back is to perform her morning warm-up exercise, ignoring the knocking sound coming from her door. In fact, she utilizes that noise as a rhythm for her movement. It was their fault to ruin her sweet dream in the first place.

While Mai was doing her activities, she also contemplated about the notification that she saw last night. She was able to recall them in complete detail, even the exact movements of a mosquito that appeared beside the transparent screen. Of course, before it was brutally murdered.

That was probably the work of her new ability, Eidetic Memory. But she still couldn't remember perfectly all the stuff that happened before she got Akyuu's ability, such as all the side character's names of the anime she watched. So she can surmise that her memory power solely applies to things that she had seen ever since she got the ability.

As for her other new ability, Mai didn't want to think about it. She just hoped that nothing wrong would happen.

Anyway, looking at only the good sides, it was still favorable for her either way. Now, she didn't need the system to remind her every time she forgot about something. The system's function is waning.

[Host, you know I'm more useful than that!]

'Fufufu~! By the way, they're quite persistent, huh?' Mai noted to herself dully, as she could still hear the knocking sound. Without any other choice, she thus lazily stride toward her room's door and use the tiny peephole on it to see who's outside.

From there, she discovers it was the badass U.A. teacher with a badass scarf from yesterday night. He's robotically knocking on her door over and over again. His hand's movement could be likened to that of a moving Chinese cat statue.

Mai suspected that he would probably never quit doing that until she does something. So she opened the door and got face to face with the pro hero. Well, she requires to tilt her head a little bit upward.

They both stared at each other with their own expressionless faces, with the difference is the man having a pair of half-opened eyes.

Yet he still glares at her unblinking.

"Hello, what is it, Mister? I don't think I know you..." Mai Inquired flatly. In her head, she had already predicted where this conversation would probably go. What else was his reason to come here except for 'that'.

Hearing what Mai had just said, the man's eyes narrowed even further. Ignoring the fact that the girl was most likely pretended to not heed him previously, he asked seriously, "You can just call me Mister Eraser Head... But let's get right to the point! Are you Vigilant Yaksha?"

The man, who was now known as Eraser Head, was an underground hero. He stays out of the spotlight and isn't a hero to be a celebrity like most heroes do. He just does his own things that he thought as right, without expecting any gratification from others.

This time, he has a really strong suspicion of the girl named Mai Friend, from the first time he saw her a few days ago. That's the reason he came here in the first place. To discover if his assumption was right or not.

Mai's prediction was right. That's why she proclaimed convincingly, "No... I'm not...", with a flat tone. Well, not that she could alter them.

"..."

But all she got was silence. Mai figures that he probably didn't believe in her pure and simple statements. Not that she cared about it. She could easily change her residence while bringing all her items with her.

When she was looking for an excuse to go back inside of her apartment, she took notice that she's still donning in a pajama currently.

"Excuse me, Mister Deleter Head. Before we continue our conversation, could you please let me change my clothes first?" Mai pleaded, even though it didn't sound like one. Also, it's not that she had forgotten his name. She just wants to have a bit of fun. It's rare to find a name that was funnier than hers.

As to why she wanted to go back inside, she needed to pack her stuff in her inventory space, and then move her base into somewhere else as her identity has been found out. Well, It was also a perfect moment to stop by her new friend's house. Maybe she could do more than just a visit.

"Alright, but you must let me in!" Asserted Eraser Head while keeping his expression normal, even when he listened to the girl's wrong pronunciation of his name. He was a professional, after all. He didn't want to let her go from his sight.

"Umm... If I do that, you're not going to peep on me, right? Mister Eliminator Head?" Mai implored. She somehow had a bad feeling about this.

"Don't worry about it. I won't get turn on just because I saw your naked body." Eraser Head responded without any shame at all. Again, he was a professional, after all.

"..." Mai chooses to say nothing and only stares at him with her pair of blank eyes.

[Host, I think he's dangerous!]

'Yeah, he's a professional loli hunter!' Mai replied to the system. She then contemplated to herself, not sure if she herself could still be called a loli. Her height was just a little bit over 140cm.

But Mai couldn't continue to daydream forever. The next thing she knows is that one of the man's palms suddenly got really close to grabbing her head. However, her left hand, which was holding the side of the door since the start, moved faster, and she reflexively shut the entrance to her room.

*BAM!*

However, after a few moments...

'Huh? Weird...' Mai was confused. It felt like she hasn't completely closed the door yet. It was then that she heard a howl of pain and agony coming from the other side.

"AAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!"

Hence, she scans around and found something stuck on her door. It was someones' fingers. All of them, except for the thumb. A streak of blood can also be perceived, tracking down toward her carpet because of the stupid gravity.

'Oi!' Mai proclaimed.

"OPEN THE D@MN DOOR, BRATTT!!!" A shout a be heard by the both of them.

'Urgh, this Mister Wiper Head was so annoying!' Mai irritatedly thought to herself. She thus slightly loosens up her door, and the man quickly yanks his fingers back. Right after that, Mai instantly locked it. For real, this time.

"BRAT, YOU'RE COURTING DEATH!!!"
