Chapter 17

The phaser once again appeared out of nowhere again in an upside down position.

"Why are you leaving so soon? The festivities are only just beginning!"

The giant gate that they saw earlier started glowing a dark sinister purple and a dark black fog came out of the gate and it slowly enshrouded the cavern bit by bit.

Everything was swallowed into the fog like a hungry girlfriend devouring chicken nuggets.

A sense of fear started throbbing in the hearts of the army members. Instinctively and mentally they knew that the fog was very bad news.

All of them tried to run but the phaser was very annoying to them. He would appear out of nowhere and attack and yet he couldn't be counter attacked.

Everyone cursed under their breath about his ridiculous ability.

With the phaser in the way, their progress with escaping was rather slow.

Rin had his leg injured so he was among the slower ones but thanks to this he had ample time to watch the phaser. He had been watching from the start and he could tell the weaknesses of the phaser's powers though they were mere guesses and he'd had to test them to know for sure.

Rin placed a charm onto his injured leg and it numbed the pain. He started chanting while keeping his eye out for the phaser.

The moment the phaser poped out of the ground he placed his hands onto the ground and a torrent of water from underneath rushed up, much larger than the water wall he used previously.

No surprise that he walked out without a problem however Rin noticed that he had a patch of his clothing that was a little wet.

A slight smile formed in the usual expressionless Rin.

'It isn't that he's untouchable but in fact all of them were tricked. Truly like a street magician, everything isn't as it seems, the deeper you get into the show that the magician shows you the less you actually see.'

Though they were enemies Rin was impressed.

There was nothing that he could do right now about the devotee but knowing his abilities was for the future.

"My eyes weren't wrong.. You truly are intelligent but that was naughty of you to play a prank on me. Learn that children shouldn't interrupt when adults are working okay?"

Without Rin being able to answer, he was already knocked out and everything turned dark.

----------------------------

'Beep! Beep! Beep!'

The annoying sound that played over and over without end.

"C..n ..y.ou… h.e..r . . . m...e?"

A muffled and disoriented voice came and soon it began multiplying. Different voices mumbling out incomprehensible things and more annoying mechanical sounds that never ended.

In fact it even increased in frequency.

Rin felt like he was driven crazy, he was just so tired and yet he was unable to rest.

His body felt like it was burning with an intense itch but he couldn't move a muscle.

Why couldn't he just go to sleep? Why couldn't his mind get better already?

The heaviness was just insufferable.

Just when Rin thought he couldn't take it anymore, the itch suddenly turned into pain and the yelling soon began.
