CHAPTER 21

She looked down at him to notice her hands clutching the fabric on his shoulder tightly. letting go quickly she pushed herself away from him to create distance.

"Do not for one second think I enjoy being here with you"

"You don't?" he gave her a mock smile" humor me"

"Yes I don't and I am not one of those women who you are used to throwing their selves at her you"

He pulled her extremely close to himself. Too close. "of course you aren't, at least they are direct in thier actions on like you trying to substuly seek my attention and denying it, you knew exactly who I was at the balcony didn't you?"

His blue orbs stared straight into her grey ones and she felt a sudden rage building up inside her. she had enough of him and she felt her fingers itching to give him a nice slap, how dare he accuse her of stalking him and trying to get his attention. Slipping her hands off his shoulders she pushed him and was about walking out on him before he pulled her back looking as mad for her trying to leave him on the dance floor.

The danced soon ended as he returned her back to the crowed and and he had once again managed ruin her night.

She saw Ronnie on the dance floor with Lady Anna and she felt disappointed and decided to go outside for a while.

Stepping out into the garden she sported a large bench and headed to it. she sat there all alone in the night staring at her favorite thing in the world; the stars; which she had shared with a stranger whose only interest was to upset her.

Hearing some footsteps she looked up to see Ronnie approaching her

"I wasn't sure if you still wanted the drink" he sent a small smile her way with two glasses of what she supposed was juice in his hand and she returned it.

he handed her a glass while she scooted to make space for him on the bench. The both just sat there in a comfortable silence, sipping their drinks while each was loss in their own thoughts.

"How long do you plan to stay in London miss Madison?" he asked after a while.

"Am not certain yet, I probably won't leave any time soon"

"You have plans of settling down here?"

"I do, maybe in the future, I love London"

"Well I am extremely glad as I was wondering if you will be staying for long"

"Why were you?" she looked straight at him.

"Because…

"Never the less, I beg to differ that wasn't the case"

The both of them heard a female voice resonating in the small garden; cuting him short of his words, looking right the saw Catalina Philips daughter of lord and Lady Philips their host for the ball circled a fountain with a now mask free Robert with her.

"Are you sure, you may be mistaken" she saw one of his infamous smirks dancing on his lips.

"Of course am not" the regal beauty that looked a few years older than her walked towards him while encircling her hands on his neck and his on her waist.

"And why is that so" he looked down at her.

"Because am always right" she batted her eyes lids at him and giggled leaning into his touch,

"aren't you over confident?" he leaned down his face toward hers and in the next second his lips was on hers.

Madison didn't know why she kept looking at the oblivious romantic display in front of her, she would have looked away when she spotted them both, but instead she kept on looking and even now that they were kissing she kept on looking, and suddenly the man eyes snap open as he stared right into her eyes while kissing the woman in his arms.

Cough. Cough.

Ronnie cleared his throat for Catalina to pull back looking startled; obviously not expecting company. her partner however had noticed before hand and did nothing about it.

The young lady went ahead to clear her throat appearing extremely flustered and trying to gather herself back "am sorry we didn't see you there"

"It's all right" Ronnie stood up and so did she "we weren't exactly in the light. Ronnie Jamison" he offered his hand to Robert after approaching them.

He took it after a while"Robert Williams and this is Catalina Philips"

"Your grace, my lady it's a pleasure. Meet Lady Madison Salypse" he introduced her.

"It's nice to meet you"

"A pleasure" the lady named Catalina seemed to dislike her at first glance feeling intimidated by her beauty. she only gave her a one look over while the duke only looked at her without any acknowledgement which seemed to please the woman as she held on tighter to his arms

"Are you together?" she asked, obviously hopping they were.

"Sadly we are just friends at the moment" she heard Ronnie respond and she felt a series of butterflies in her stomach. He has said 'at the moment' which means that he wanted more in the long run. "And you" he threw the question back at her, but before she could answer Robert beat her to it.

"Just friends"

That curt simple answer of his seemed to had made the atmosphere dense and the whole place became awkward.

both her and Ronnie had just caught the woman in his arms as they were kissing just a whilr ago and now the cold man had just called them friends.

She noticed the spatter of red on Catalina face and she wondered if it was due to embarrassment on his terminology of their relationship or due to the fact that they had just caught them kissing in an open garden.
