BELLE OF CLANFORD

“Come on we have to go!"

Madison pulled Ellison sleeves and kept on winning like a little child.

After she heard about the horse riding tournament that was going to take place today she couldn’t help but want to go, But Ellison thought it was a bad idea.

She had asked her so nicely several times but she kept saying no, she had called upon Glenda for help but sadly she had supported her sister over her.

After introducing Ellison and Glenda the two of them got along almost instantly, they were both so similar and together they had joined forces to prevent Madison from going to the horse racing tournament.

“Please Elli it will be fun I promise. ”

She pouted at her and gave her her most adorable face but sadly it wasn’t working.

“Yes I know it will be fun, but it will look weird if only the three on us go there.”

“Why?”

“Because we don’t know any of the players and we weren’t invited by anyone, plus father won’t like it.”

“That is not a problem Elli, we will just go real quick, see the participating riders and come back, nobody will even notice.” Itching further towards her, she flashed her biggest smile until she finally relented.

“Fine but we won’t stay long” she said with a stern expression and God so help her she was serious.

“Gosh it’s so wonderful isn’t it?”

Glenda smiled at the charming view in front of her, men in all forms and sizes were draped in black breaches and white shirts as the mounted their horses ready to alight when the Whistle will be blown.

Turning over to look at her companions who she was talking to she found Ellison eyes glued on the match, on a specific man in particular who was leading the race before another man surged forward moving with amazing speed that she found strangely familiar but never the less amazing, and Madison was missing.

She turned left and right but didn’t see her anywhere, deciding not to alert Ellison as she will definitely be furious, she slowly backed up and began looking for her but the loud whistle distracted her as she looked up and saw all the men racing toward the finish line with their horses sprinting as fast as they could to finish the race but there was already a winner.

He was the same man she saw overtaking the racers earlier and he caught her attention quite all right. He looked slim and slender and had a black mask covering his face and head. looking more closely she soon realized who the man was and she couldn't help but gape alound.

After dismounting his horse the man took off his black mask and a bundle of brown shining hair sprung out and she felt her mouth drop open.

Madison couldn’t contain her joy when she crossed the finish line. She had always wanted to participate in a race, but never had an opportunity, so when she first heard about the match she begged Ellison to come not to watch but to play.

She had ridden a lot of horses back in school and she found them absolutely charming but this particular stallion was on another level. She didn’t look at her sister though because she kept on sending daggers her way with her eyes.

“Don’t tell me you didn’t find it incredible?” she approached her trying to hide her smile and avoid being scolded but sadly it didn’t work.

Madison stared wide eyes at her sister, after hearing an ear full from her but instead of feeling sorry she still felt very happy as she had missed her sister a lot and she also missed her scoldings.

She had also enjoyed the shocked and amazed look on all their faces after she took off her mask, most of the crowed stared at her with awe as she was an excellent markswoman and she gave them an awesome performance, but not every one felt it was awesome.

She saw the looks some of the older women gave her and she had received more than enough yells from her sister to know she didn’t find her tactics the least entertaining.

The next morning several young men had gone to the mansion of the earl of clanford to call on his second daughter.

Words had already spread like wild fire about her participating in the racing tournament the previous day and on how remarkable she was, But the main reason they were there wasn’t because she was an excellent markswoman but because when she took off her mask that day and let down her hair the whole crowed was transfixed by her beauty.

So today half of the men in clanford had come to see her for themselves and confirm her beauty for their selves, luckily for them she was in high spirits that day that she entertained each and every one of them answering their questions and receiving invitations to go to balls and with them. And it wasn’t long before Madison became very popular among the ton.

………

In a short span of time madison had become the most sort after belle in clanford as her father had received a lot of proposal for her hand in marriage but he had turned them all down stating that they were not men of importance or noble titles, and Madison didn’t care because none of the men she met had ever caught her fancy.

She mostly spent her days with her sister or in the library; occasionally she went out of the house but not for long.

Today Seated on her bed she was reading a letter from Jen in which she was inviting her to come to London to have her debut along with her. And she was so excited because she had been getting very bored lately.

Glenda had gone to Scotland to visit her aunt which was sick while Ellison has been weirdly absent of late, she had no idea where she always ran too and she never told her insisting that she was just going for a walk. Pulling out the paper that came with Jens letter she saw a long list of all the things she will be requiring for her to be DEB.

Pulling the paper along with her, she headed over to her father study to inform him and surprisingly he was just as excited with the plan but obviously for different reasons.

He wanted her to marry from a rich and affluent family and the prospects of finding one when she goes to London were very high compared to staying in Clanford and regardless of the expenses he agreed to send her off and was glad that mademoiselle offered to be her chaperon which meant he wouldn’t have to find one for her.

Feeling happy about her upcoming debut she headed over to Ellison room to tell her about the good news but she couldn’t find her there again, she searched all over the house but there was no sign of her, deciding to tell her when she came back she went to her own room.
