The Girl

Walking out of the clinic a tall man with a tall nose, thin lips, and cold grey eyes looked at the sky as he walked out the doors. It was a bright clear day and put everyone in a good mood, everyone but him. Putting on his Gucci aviator glasses, Li Longwei stopped and turned his head slightly to the side.

"Go get the car. I'll wait here."

Bowing down his assistant, Zhao Guowei, quickly went to the parking lot to get the car. Watching his assistant leave to get the car, Longwei turned around and walked down a path towards a garden in the back clinic. As he walked down the road, his phone started to ring. Looking at the caller ID, Longwei answered the call on the fourth ring.

"Mother."

"Longwei, when will you be coming home dear?" asked Li Qing.

"I will be returning in a few days. I'll let you and father know when I come back," replied Longwei.

"Okay. Have you been eating your meals on time? I told Guowei to make sure you don't skip a meal, or you'll end up getting sick." said Qing.

If she didn't care whether that boy starved or not he would have been in the hospital multiple times already. Only she could get this stubborn man to eat his meals on time. If not, then he would skip eating and be in his office surrounded by paperwork all day.

Rubbing the area between his eyebrows, Longwei softly sighed. "Yes, I have."

"Good. Don't skip your meals. You shouldn't focus so much on the business. There's still your father. How will my future daughter-in-law manage with you always being so stubborn and wanting to work? Speaking of that, when will you be introducing her to us? Your father, grandfather, and I have been waiting long enough to hear about her."

"Mom, I told you already I'm in no rush to find a wife yet. I'm only 27 and still have time." Sighed Longwei.

"27 doesn't mean you'll always be young. You should hurry and find a girl soon Longwei. If you want I know a couple of ladies with good potential daughters. I'm sure you would like one of them."

Not hearing his mother, Longwei looked at a girl in a wheelchair in the middle of the garden. She had her eyes closed and had her face lifted towards the sun. She had a small smile on her rosy lips and seemed to be lost in something. Her long black hair was blowing in the breeze and seemed to dance around her.

"Longwei. Longwei do you hear me? Did this boy hang up on me?" his mother said on the phone.

"I'm still here mom." replied Longwei as he turned his attention back to the phone, glancing at the girl every few seconds.

"Well what do you think?" asked Qing.

"I'll think about it mom. I'm currently busy…"

Suddenly Longwei heard a shout.

"Watch out!" a boy shouted.

Turning his attention to the shout, Longwei watched as a ball headed towards the girl in the wheelchair. As he watched her open her eyes and stare in fright at the incoming ball, he saw her raise her hands in an attempt to protect herself. Realizing that she couldn't move out of the way quickly, Longwei ran towards her forgetting about his mom on the phone.

As he reached her, Longwei wrapped his arms around her as he held her tightly. Thump! The ball hit his back, but Longwei couldn't think about the pain he felt. All he could think about was the small body of the girl in his arms as he held her tight. It felt so right that he didn't want to let go.

At that moment she opened her eyes and stared at him. Her big brown eyes full of shock stared straight at him as he held her in his arms freezing Longwei on the spot. Suddenly remembering where he was, Longwei reluctantly let his arms loosen their hold around her as he turned around and picked up the ball.

Giving the ball back to the kid, the kid grabbed the ball quickly and apologized.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to kick it this way. Are you okay miss?" asked the child.

"I'm fine. It's okay, you didn't do it on purpose." said the girl.

Her voice was soft and sweet like bells. Longwei felt something tug at his chest as he heard her voice.

"Thank you for helping me. May I know your name?" she asked.

Turning around, Longwei looked at her bright eyes as he answered her. "Li Longwei."
