1 Chapter 001. Action

Athena's POV

I clutched onto my handbag as I walked across the streets. I adjusted my sweater and wrapped my arms around myself, attempting to cover my bare chest. I've always hated revealing clothes, mainly because of my flat body but Leanna had insisted that I had to wear them at all costs since I lied to her that I was going on a date. She has been my best friend since high school. She had no idea of what kind of person I was and I never mustered up the courage to tell her.

I looked down at the four-inch heels before sighing. I was the kind of girl who loved racing with motorbikes and behaved nothing like a girl. I tied my hair up into a ponytail and threw my sweater into a dustbin, completely changing into another person.

I pulled my phone out and dialed a number.

"In position," I narrowed my eyes as my lips curved into a grin. "Make sure to be safe," the other party replied before disconnecting the call. He was Maxwell Gena, my boyfriend, and workmate. I have been dating him since I was sixteen.

I slowly turned the knob of the apartment rented by my boss. I changed into short jeans and a hoodie before assembling the sniper rifle, and placing it near the window.

I slowly rotated my sniper rifle, scanning the KFC hotel six hundred meters away. My breathing slowed as I laid my eyes on my target. Wayne Jones, and was perfectly within my sight. He was a nice-looking man. Silver hair that hung over to his shoulders, perfect body. To say, he was every girl's dream except me who already had Max. To no surprise, he was surrounded by escorts of all ages. I let out a sigh as I viewed him, one of his escorts blocking my way, making my job difficult.

I was the kind of person who loved working independently except for some challenging tasks that needed more than one person. I hummed my favorite song 'SLOWLY by Meddy' as I tapped my finger against the trigger. Suddenly, another two escorts stood in front of my target like they had sensed my existence.

"Holy f*ck! How can you do this to me?" I sighed through my gritted teeth, looking around the apartment. I rubbed my pinkie finger on my eye before scanning once more to my target.

I bit my lower lip as I rotated my sniper rifle searching for him once further. My eyes widened in shock as I saw Maxwell whispering something to Wayne, his eyes glimpsing in my direction. Max raised his middle finger with a creepy smile, sending chills of cold air down my spine. I was never afraid of anything in my lifetime except his smile. His smile screamed nothing but danger.

I wiped the layers of cold sweat from my forehead with my palms. I dismantled my weapon within seconds and placed it back into its box. I slid the clothes I was wearing before into my handbag, grabbed my rifle, and attempted to flee away when the door flew open.

I held onto my rifle as I took a few steps back. I observed the three men wearing black suits with submachine guns in their hands. I narrowed my eyes as a wicked smile danced on my lips. Max had picked the Vantage point saying that it would be easy to end the target with just a single blow. I never doubted him because of our relationship.

The vibration of my phone snapped me back to reality. I dug through my phone trying to find the device full of schemes and lies, my eyes still concentrating on the three men.

"Go on," One of the men said coldly.

"What?" I mumbled, squeezing the phone next to my ear. "Gotcha," he chuckled cheekily, knowing it wasn't funny. "Yup, just pray hard that I never come across you. I'm gonna kill all of you together with your family." I admitted, my legs feeling numb.

"A few words for your father and your dear step-sister?" he spoke out. "Go to hell," I stated before I hung up.

As I was talking on the phone, I was calculating how to escape but I had no way how I could escape without battling them. I couldn't jump from the 15th floor no matter how much I hated life.

I took a few more steps backward, shoving my hand deep into my handbag searching for a smoke bomb and a bottle of chill. I was always prepared in case of a situation like this. Who knew my lovely boyfriend of eight years could betray me at a crucial moment? I narrowed my eyes once more before I spotted a bucket full of water.

A smile danced on the corner of my lips as I flipped toward the bucket, kicking it in the men's direction before throwing a smoke bomb. In the process, a bullet hit my upper arm sending blood flying over the wall and some flowed down the sniper rifle box I was carrying.

I took steps forward, escaping from the apartment only to see a quick glimmer of an object flying over to me. I tried to react as quickly as I could but I couldn't get away from it. It hit straight on my forehead, making me stumble and lose focus. I groaned as my body hit every stair until I settled on the floor.

"I knew you would escape." A chilling, yet familiar voice sounded. I could only hear it through echoes but I still recognized it. How could I ever forget that voice, the voice of the person that I have been madly in love with for the past eight years?

Suddenly, I felt my soul escape from my body. It was like I was drowning at the bottom of the ocean, my hands and legs tied together with a rope when there was nothing I could do to survive.

"Forgive all my wrongdoings Oh Lord."
