August 5, Year 2025.

Today was the day of the closed beta of Sanctuary.

I must get it! I must get it! Seuss sat in front of the computer and clicked the mouse frantically.

Sanctuary was going to start its closed beta today, but the closed beta slot required everyone to click on the official website to register.

Ever since this game called Sanctuary appeared three months ago, it had attracted countless attention.

The graphics were realistic, had a medieval style to them, and an extremely high degree of freedom.

Finally, after the official website refreshed, the registration link was unlocked.

Without a hint of hesitation, Seuss quickly clicked on the mouse. There was no other way. There were more than ten million people paying attention to this game, but only a thousand slots were opened for the closed beta test.

The first time he clicked on the registration link, a questionnaire popped up on the screen.

There were all kinds of questions on it, all about the history of Sanctuary.

That's right. Before the game was released, the game company had released a book called Chronicles of the Sanctuary, which contained nearly three thousand years of history.

Who was the ruler of the Atlanta Continent in the Chaotic Era?

Who was the oldest monarch in Atlanta?

Who did the orcs worship?

The answers to these questions could be found in the Chronicles of the Sanctuary, but it was obviously too late to turn the pages.

It was a good thing that Seuss had read the Chronicles of the Sanctuary, and because the history written in this book was very real and interesting, he had read it more than once.

These questions in front of him were very simple. Seuss could tell the answer with one look at the questions.

He quickly clicked on the mouse and selected the correct answers to these questions.

It took less than five minutes for him to complete all twenty questions.

He clicked to submit it and the screen showed the words 'Successfully Submitted, waiting for the results'.

"Greetings adventurer, congratulations on securing a place for this beta test. Please fill in your delivery address. Helmet No. 00000971 will be sent to you as soon as possible."

"???" Seuss was suddenly stunned.

I think… I got it?!

He quickly grabbed the mouse and keyboard to fill in his address.

Before he could recover from his sudden ecstasy, Seuss's phone rang. It was his friend Cole.

"Seuss, did you get the spot?" Cole's voice came from the phone as soon as he picked up the call.

"Let me tell you, I've been staring at the official website just now. I didn't expect to do that questionnaire. How would I know how to answer those questions!"

Listening to Cole's wail, Seuss was secretly delighted. If he hadn't read the Chronicles of the Sanctuary, he would have missed this opportunity just like Cole.

"I'm so sorry to say this but, I got it!" Seuss could not suppress the joy in his voice.

"What? You got it?" Cole didn't feel happy when he heard that Seuss had gotten the spot and instead, he felt even sadder. Not only did he lose a brother who had to suffer with him, but he also gained a lucky bastard of a friend that had secured a spot.

After a while, Cole recovered from his sadness and said slowly.

"Didn't you not play games? Why are you fighting with us for a spot?"

It was true that Seuss had never really played games before, but it was not that he did not like to play games. It was just that in the past, Seuss's father did not allow him to play too much.

After finding out that Seuss had gotten the spot, Cole refused to let Seuss hang up the phone and complained about his mistake on the other end of the phone. It was because he had not even seen the official background history that he wasn't chosen this time.

Ding dong! The doorbell rang.

There had never been a day when Seuss felt the doorbell ring as pleasantly as today.

"Hello, is this Mr. Seuss? Your package is here." Outside the door was a man in a courier uniform.

"Yes, yes, that's me." Seuss quickly took the parcel and handed the courier a bottle of water.

Happiness was something to be shared.

After sending off the courier, Seuss could not wait to put on his helmet. He wanted to enter that world filled with endless charm immediately.

With a flash of white light, the darkness inside the helmet vanished in front of Seuss's eyes. Instead, it turned into a large mass of white fog.

When he reached out to touch the fog, Seuss could clearly feel that his hand was becoming moist.

Moving forward along the railings on both sides, he passed through the fog and what appeared in front of Seuss was a white palace that weaved through the clouds.

The palace seemed to be carved out of a single slab of pure white stone, including the railing beside it. No matter how Seuss observed, he could not see any gaps.

The walls of the nearby palace were decorated with stained glass. Walking into the palace, there was a magnificent mural on the dome. Sunlight shone through the stained glass and onto the mural.

The mural depicted a great battle between the righteous and evil sides. On one side were humans, elves, and other races, following the gods in white to fight against the massive monster.

Humans and elves could not fight against the monster, so they engaged in a fierce battle with the monster's subordinates.

Their opponents were the creatures emerging from the deep sea, demonkins with twisted limbs, and those strange-looking creatures.

"Welcome, adventurer." While Seuss was looking at the mural, a small fairy the size of a palm floated in front of him.

Hearing the small fairy's greeting, Seuss turned around and saw a pair of transparent wings.

"Adventurer, Sanctuary will open again in thirty minutes. You can choose your class now," the fairy spoke again. This time, Seuss understood that the fairy was a game guide.

The small fairy waved her hand, and a screen appeared in front of Seuss, displaying various races, classes, and countries.

After reading these introductions, Seuss learned some information about Sanctuary. The entire story of Sanctuary happened in Atlanta.

There were three empires on the Atlanta Continent, as well as some small-scaled gathering grounds. Seuss could choose one from the six races—human, elf, orc, giant, undead, and demonkin.

To be honest, Seuss still had some psychological pressure when it came to becoming another race, so after some consideration, he chose the human race.

The main spawn points of humans were all within the borders of the Greenland Empire. This was the only empire that was dominated by humans.

Next up was to choose a class. Other than some specific classes that were race-locked, humans could choose most of the classes.

Looking at the introduction of every class, Seuss couldn't help but read them out loud.

"We are the kings of the shadows. We walk on the edge of life and death, and we have seen the most beautiful sights in the world. There is no place on the earth where we haven't left our traces. Mine honor is my life."

This was the introduction to the class of Thief. Upon seeing these words, Seuss was extremely excited. In front of Sanctuary, who wouldn't want to see those sights that they had never seen before?

Mine honor is my life, Seuss said in his heart. He immediately chose the Thief class and named his character "Stars".

Suddenly, after Seuss chose his class, the little fairy who hadn't spoken for a long time spoke again.

"Please draw your talent."

Draw my talent? Seuss was puzzled. He did not expect there to be such a thing as talent. "Begin the draw."

A wheel appeared in front of Seuss. Written on it were countless talents and right after it appeared, it began to spin crazily. It was impossible to see what he was going to get.

Finally, the wheel stopped and a name appeared in front of Seuss.

Gift from the Ruler of Time? Seuss looked at the talent drawn out in confusion. Why did this talent have nothing but a name?
