1 Reborn

In another planet similar to Earth, a man was currently driving on the freeway, enjoying the idyllic scene in front of him as he listened to the radio.

"On today's news in entertainment, an amateur author under the moniker False Dusk has become popular thanks to his new novel entitled 'I Reincarnated As A Twig'. More on the article after these sponsored messages." While listening to the words spoken, the man could not help but mutter to himself, "Man, False Dusk finally struck gold. I remember the time when he still used to write cultivation novels. I should give his new book a look see sometime."

However, just as he was about to enjoy the feeling of driving along the freeway some more, the truck in front of him abruptly stopped all of a sudden, sending some of the logs it was carrying towards the vehicles behind it. Unfortunately, one of those vehicles happened to be the car the man was in.

Seeing one of the logs getting closer and closer to hitting his car, the man instantly put in all his strength into turning the steering wheel as much as he could, being fueled by adrenaline. Fortunately, the man had just turned the steering wheel right in time for the log to bounce off the hood, sending his car skidding across the road.

As his adrenaline gradually disappeared after escaping a near death situation, the man could not help but let out a sigh of relief as he exclaimed, "Phew! And I thought I was going to die just like those people in Ultimate Destina—"

Crash!

Just before the man could fully rejoice from that escape, the sensation of a long rod piercing through his skull quickly took him by surprise, hastily prompting him to look at the culprit of his death as his consciousness slowly disappeared. To his surprise, the path his car took while skidding coincidentally aligned the long pipe that stuck out from a nearby construction zone to hit the driver's window. With the momentum his car had built up while skidding, it was impossible for him to escape.

Realizing that he was going to die, he found it kind of surreal that he was feeling no pain at all, muttering to himself, "I still died like those people…in Ultimate…Destination…"

Eventually, the man laid limp in his driver's seat as a gruesome scene was shown for those who were looking at the aftermath from afar. However, unlike what was happening to his body, the man's soul experienced something else, feeling like his vision was fully covered by light. A few seconds later, he had regained his vision, looking at the ceiling of what seemed to be an old house that was of Eastern style.

'Is this a dream?' the man instantly thought to himself as he saw this new sight. However, his other senses soon kicked in, allowing him to feel the soft thing enveloping his back while being able to smell the fresh air from the windows near where he was. After a while, he slowly sat up as he took in a quick look of his surroundings, his mind trying to process what had happened to him.

"So, I was killed by a long pipe…only to appear in an old-looking Eastern house?" he muttered as he soon noticed that there was a mirror inside the room he was in. Noticing that he was on a bed, he got off it and went closer to the mirror, only to become speechless as his current appearance was not like his previous one at all. Back then, he was nearing his thirties, but now, he looked like a young teenager that seemed sick.

Excluding the fact that he looked sickly, everything finally clicked in the man's mind as he thought to himself, 'Could it be that…I have transmigrated?'

Looking at the clothes he wore, as well as actually taking in the style of the room he was in, another thought popped up in his mind as he muttered, "And into a cultivation world, no less?"

As he realized this, the man was just about to jump for joy when a headache struck him, prompting him to sit down on his bed as he noticed that the headache was accompanied by an influx of information. Although there was a lot of information, the man still found some important things he should take note of, muttering, "So, my name in this world is Shi Li. I'm one of the young masters of the Shi clan in Sanshan Town. And…"

"I'm crippled, huh?" Obtaining this information from the influx of information that assaulted his mind, it didn't take long for him to come to the conclusion that he had been given the previous body's memories. Surprisingly, he had more or less acclimated to this new world within these few short moments, taking on the identity of Shi Li.

Just as he was planning to leave the room he was in, the door was opened, revealing a person that wore slightly shabbier clothes compared to him. Carrying what seemed to be a set of towels, the person stopped in his tracks after seeing Shi Li sitting on his bed. After a few moments of silence, an expression of indifference appeared on the person's face as he told Shi Li, "Please wait here. I'll tell the madam of your awakening."

A few moments later, the hurried footsteps of a person soon became louder as another person appeared in Shi Li's room. This time, the woman wore a set of clothes that looked as fine as the one Shi Li wore. From what Shi Li could see, the woman was quite beautiful for her age, thinking that he was probably around late twenties. Nevertheless, the charm she exuded did not affect him as he could the concern on her face, prompting him to think, 'So, this is my mother.'

"Oh, thank the heavens you're alive!" The woman exclaimed as she tightly embraced Shi Li. However, she could not embrace her son for long as Shi Li muttered, "That hurts, mom."

Hearing those words, she immediately let go of her embrace as she sat on a nearby chair. Ordering the servant that had come in a while ago to bring Shi Li a light meal, his mother, whose name was Shi Languang after rummaging through the memories he had obtained, could not help but ask, "How do you feel, son?"

"I feel…alright?" Unsure as to whether the feeling he was currently feeling was part of the fact that he was crippled, Shi Li decided to respond safely. In response, Shi Languang could not help but lightly frown, telling him, "I know you're putting up a strong facade in front of your mother. Just tell me everything that you're feeling. After what you've experienced, I'm certain there's still a few side effects."

As Shi Li listened to those words, he could not help but rummage through the memories of the previous owner of his body, recalling how the previous owner was trying to pick a few fruits from a tree for he and his mother to enjoy. Unfortunately, he slipped off the branch his feet were on, which would normally not be a problem. But since he had a sickness, that small problem had become worse.

In the end, the previous owner's soul could not endure it anymore, allowing the man's soul from the other world to take over the body. Scratching the back of his head, he told her, "I guess my body's still aching."

"Alright, I'll ask someone to bring you some pain relieving ointment later, okay?" his mother said in response. "Make sure to spread it all over the spots that really hurt, or else you'll never hear the end of me."

"I got it, mom. Don't worry," Shi Li replied, finally allowing his mother to rest at ease as she told him to stay in bed for a bit more. After a few more exchanges, Shi Languang left the room, finally leaving Shi Li alone to himself once more.

Taking in a deep breath, Shi Li lied down on his bed before gazing outside the nearby window. Being greeted by the sight of an Eastern town from the old times, Shi Li could not help but let out a sigh as he said to himself, "So…"

"I've been reborn, huh?"
