What do you think of werewolves?

Tales spin werewolves as fearsome beasts, full of danger and charm. Often, the heroine has to fight to keep their wits in the face of their dangerous beauty.

That was clearly a lie.

Camilia didn't disbelieve in werewolves, the world was large, they could exist. But she was doubted they were all hot, ripped men. She didn't have time to waste, only allowing herself to wonder late in the night. Today her school, Oggend's basketball team was going against their neighboring private school, Liken. The school was known to be elite and strange. Werewolves were all the school could talk about, rumors flying all throughout the school.

"Cam, will you take this to Liken's coach?" Coach Winters called Camilia over, handing her a stack of papers.

Camilia took it, stowing her pencil behind her ear, her silky black hair keeping it in place. She checked her clipboard that was on top, seeing the schedule on top. The team would be in their locker rooms, putting their stuff away, they shouldn't be changing yet.

Camilia started to walk to the locker rooms, smiling as her team waved to her. She had been their manager for 2 years, this was her second to last in high school, her second to last basketball season. Camilia walked to the locker room, listening to the band warming up. She smiled, this was going to be a good game.

Camilia walked down the stairs to the locker room, hearing the murmurs and laughter from the room inside. She opened the door, looking at the schedule. The murmurs grew louder as Camilia walked toward them. She looked at the schedule, she had half an hour before the game.

"Be careful about the moon tonight, make sure you get home without being spotlighted." A voice called out, halting the laughter.

"Of course. We're not puppies anymore." A voice replied with a barking laugh. Camilia paused, curiosity entering her eyes. Then she shook her head and kept walking, she wasn't like one of those swooning girls, she had a job, and that wasn't to wonder about the boys talking about dogs.

"Excuse me." Camilia announced as the boys came into view. They looked at her, some surprised, others smiling in welcome.

"What's up?" The boy in the middle asked, giving her a friendly smile, Camilia paused as she saw he had small fangs showing.

Camilia masked her surprise, smiling back, "I have the papers your coach requested.

The boy nodded, walking towards her, "I'll get them to him." He lifted the papers out of Camilia's arms, letting her take her clipboard. Camilia looked at the boys behind him, noticing how each had shaggy hair that didn't seem to be tamed, most were browns and blacks, but there was a boy with shaggy red hair and another with shaggy blond. They were quiet, whispering to themselves and seeming rather standoffish, like they didn't know how to interact with her. When they glanced at her their eyes were vibrant, making her blush.

"Thanks for dropping these by." The boy said, "I'm the captain this year, the name's Neil." He had the longest hair, it stopped halfway down his neck, the top almost hiding his eyes, but he had it swept to the side.

"I'm Camilia, the basketball manager." Camilia responded, smiling then turning to head out. It was time for warmups.

"Hey Camilia," Neil called, his voice turning amused. Camilia turned back towards him, seeing him move back into the team, "What do you think of werewolves?" He asked, his smile turning into an amused smirk.

Camilia blinked, unsure how to respond, then she smiled, "I'll tell you if you win." She then turned and walked out of the room, hearing the chatter of the team behind her. She thought of the boys' shaggy hair and intense gazes. What did she think about werewolves? She wasn't sure, but if anyone was a werewolf, it would be them. She laughed to herself, moving up the stairs. She heard the band playing Thriller and smiled wider, tonight was going to be a good game.

In the locker room the boys were talking wilder, Neil called them to attention, handing out the papers to them, "You heard the girl. Let's go win this." The boys looked at him, a smile coming to each of them, their eyes becoming bright, almost wild.

Camilia sat next to Coach Winters jiggling her leg as she talked to Kyle, their team's captain.

He looked at her leg, a smile forming, "You haven't moved so much since state. You nervous?"

Camilia smiled, "I think tonight will be a good game. We didn't play Liken last year." She watched their coach, he was built large, his gaze confident as he talked to their assistant coach, a woman with a tattoo on her shoulder.

Kyle nodded, "They haven't come out yet, I'd like to see who we're facing." He looked down their seats, watching as their team came in. Camilia watched the students file in, most were groups of girls who waved to Kyle and giggled as he smiled back. The guys of the school would come in later, sporting pretzels and hot dogs from the concession stand.

Kyle stood up, "I should get the team warming up." He said, waving to Camilia as he walked on where the rest of the team stood. A player tossed him a ball and he started into a run, dribbling the ball. Camilia smiled as they jogged past her, then she stood up, taking all the water bottles out. They wouldn't let her fill then until they were warming up. She walked out of the gym, smiling as she recognized more people coming in.

As Camilia filled up the water bottles she saw the Likens come up the stairs, Neil at their head. He had a pulled the top of his hair up into a ponytail to clear his eyes. He smiled as he saw her, "Good luck!" He said, chuckling as Camilia blushed.

"You'll need it more." She called out, feeling everyone's stares on her. The Likens laughed at her words, most waving to her as they entered the gym.

"See you manager!" The red head said, chuckling as he caught the ball thrown at him and disappeared into the gym. Camilia looked down at the filling water bottles, pulling it out before it could overflow. She looked up, a man with dark eyes staring at her.

Camilia hid her jump, smiling at him, "Can I help you?"

"You're the manager of the team?" He asked, his gaze just as intense as the boys that had just passed.

Camilia nodded, finishing the water bottles and placing them in her catty. The man had long brown hair, most pulled into a tight braid. Camilia felt her guard going up as he stared at her.

Camilia smiled, "I have to get back. Enjoy the game!" She turned and walked back to the gym, pausing as the teams dribbled past the doors. Then she walked in, placing the water bottles on her teammates' chairs.

Camilia sat next to Winters, turning to him as he cleared his throat.

"This is going to be a close game." He said, watching the Likens warming up. Camilia watched them, seeing how they passed without hesitation, laughing as they connected to each other flawlessly. Camilia started jiggling her leg, watching as they ran with a grace and strength that only Kyle could match.

Neil's words came back to her. What did she think of werewolves? Camilia blew out. If there were werewolves, they would definitely excel at sports. Camilia took a drink from her water bottle, butterflies playing within her as the basketball game began.

The red haired boy stood in front of Kyle, crouching as he got ready for the jump ball. The referee threw the ball. The two jumped, the red head exploding off the floor, his hand hit the ball, making it fly to Neil. Neil grabbed it, starting to dribble to their basket. He moved with a strength and confidence that Camilia's team had to scramble to catch up to. Two teammates blocked Neil's path, he gave them a fanged smile and passed the ball behind him, into the hands of a teammate who slipped away from his guard.

Camilia hid her gasp, she had never seen such a blind pass before. He had passed without hesitation, as if he could see the one behind him. Neil turned and winked at her before running to shake off the man on his tail. Camilia watched in awe as the Likens made their first point, only a minute after the game had started. She yelled to her team, urging them on. Then she sat and watched, this was going to be one of the hardest games her team had ever known.
