It has been a while since I last posted and I thought a lot about the future of this story. To be honest, I am not happy with how it is currently.

The thing that bothers me is MC's powers. Kizaru is my favorite character from One Piece so I wanted to write a character with those powers. But I finished rereading the monster association arc and researched more about the characters and I believe that Kizaru is too powerful for this story.

He would be in the top 3 of S-class .Considering the absurdity of a character who can move at light speed, I don't think I can write a compelling story with that character. (I know that there are characters who can match his speed and could beat him. The amount of people who can challenge him is very few).

There is hardly any room for real stakes. When you are intangible, have haki, and move at the speed of light, it becomes hard to write interesting fights. I rewrote the fight with Carnage Kabuto multiple times because I can't make the fight feel interesting.

My original plan for this story was

MC gains 100% power and slowly grows in strength throughout the story, rising through the ranks. It was never my intention to have the MC have to adapt to the power.

I am stuck with a problem, either keep MC as overpowered as is or have the story turn into a template. I could use a template system where MC slowly gained the powers, but I am not a fan of system stories. Writing a system I feel would make the story feel less connected to the One Punch Man universe. I would rather MC's strength be evident in his actions rather than a percentage. "Show don't tell". Any growth just feels like it was handed by the system rather than MC's hard work.

I made a mistake by choosing Kizaru. I thought of having the MC learn martial arts and possibly maybe awaken his fruit. That growth in power would feel so meaningless because he is already that powerful. I don't want this to be a story where the MC is hardly ever challenged.

In the very beginning of this story I was actually going to choose Katakuri's powers. Reflecting back, it might have been the better choice.

There I could write a character who is not so blatantly overpowered. A story with real stakes and more growth. I completely understand why Gege did Gojo so dirty (writing op characters is a pain).

I am left with a choice

-Keep MC overpowered as is

-Make it a template Story

-Completely new powers (something not so overpowered, probably another one piece character)

I understand why so many authors completely drop their stories but I don't want to give up on this story but I want to make big changes.

I am going to change big parts of the story regardless of what I choose. I guess I just want to hear what you guys have to say.

Man, writing is hard.
