2 Chapter 2: Training

Law was carried back to the cave and this was not a simple task, since they also had a lot of food they had to carry.

The next day, Law woke up and after he washed up and ate his breakfast, he immediately began looking for information about metal poisoning.

He already knew a lot of metal poisoning from the books he read when he was small and knew that it was going to be difficult since the lead binds with the cells and prevents them from functioning properly.

He then looked at a few other books and came to the conclusion that if he had to remove all the lead from his body, he had to do so by using chemical reactions that react with the lead so that it would form other compounds that can then be removed using his devil fruit.

This process can only work since he has the devil fruit powers. Without them, this method would only lead to further poisoning of the patient.

To do this, Law needed to completely understand his devil fruit and learn how to use it without passing out. Creating and maintaining a room requires stamina and in Law's current state, it is very difficult to maintain the room for a long time.

Law then walked out of the cave and created a small room. He decided to dedicate this whole day to learning about his devil fruit.

He first made a stone float and dropped it. He then moved on to a slightly bigger stone and made it float. He continued to do so until he couldn't make anything float.

"Conclusion: I can make objects twice my normal strength float." Law said. This meant that if he could lift 10 kgs with his arms, he can lift 20kgs with his devil fruit.

He then tried expanding the room to test out the range of the devil fruit till he could no longer extend it without heavily straining his body.

"Have to improve in this. Only 10 metres." He said.

He then tried amputating a branch of a tree and found out that he needed a sharp object to do that and also needed the physical strength needed to cut that object.

He then went on trying many things that Law from the show performed, but he couldn't recreate those moves since he needed a lot of stamina and physical strength.

He spent his whole day doing other things that he wanted to know about the fruit, like the effects of water.

He found out that he could make a room with water in it, switch places with objects in the water and also make the water float, but he noticed that he needed a lot more energy to do these things with water, as compared to without any water in his room.

At the end of the day, he was completely tired and went to sleep after eating a lot of food.

From the next day, he began his treatment. He collected a lot of naturally occurring chemicals that he could find in the forest.

Law didn't go back to the town for chemicals because he had already used his room twice and there was a slight chance that Doflamingo might still be in the North Blue and he might hear this from someone.

So, he didn't want to roam in the public that often.

*Timeskip 1 month later*

Law walked out of the cave and looked at the impatient faces of his friends, who were waiting for the results of his final checkup to see if there is any lead left in his body.

Law smiled and said "I am completely healed."

Penguin, Bepo and Shachi, all three jumped at Law and hugged him.

"Now that I am completely healed, we are going to feast today." Law said and all three cheered.

All three of them went hunting and now that Law was completely healed, he could use his devil fruit powers better than before. They came back with a good hail and cooked the meat.

All of them were stuffing their faces. Shachi asked Law while fighting with Penguin for a piece of meat "What are we going to do now? What was the plan you had in mind for us to grow stronger?"

Law replied "That plan requires me to be stronger than an average adult. We will have to train for that a bit. I was thinking of training in this forest for a year. I can teach you a lot of things I learnt from a few bastards."

"You are our captain. We will follow you wherever you go." Shachi replied while the rest agreed with what he said.

That was when Law was reminded that he was their captain and he was responsible for their lives.

Law looked at them and said "Then finish eating and go to sleep peacefully. This would be last night you might be able to sleep peacefully."

All three of them ignored Law thinking that he was just trying to sound like a strict military instructor.

The next day, Law woke them up. They washed themselves and were waiting for instructions from Law.

Law then said "Since the goal of this training is to train you to a level where you can handle an average adult.

I thought about this a lot and there was only a single conclusion. Follow me."

Law then led them to the centre of the forest. He created his room and said "The only way to train ourselves and push past our limits is by running for our lives."

"I don't like the sound of that." Penguin said and Shachi agreed.

Immediately, four huge gorillas appeared before them. Law wasn't only going to make them run for their life while he just sits and laughs.

He then made a few rocks of noticeable size float and threw them at the gorillas, riling them up. It seemed to work, since the huge gorillas rushed at them, making the ground shake.

All four of them ran through the forest, through different terrains for half a day before the gorillas got tired and decided that it wasn't worth their effort.

After the whole chase, the effects of adrenaline wore off and the fatigue hit them hard. Law was the most tired since he was physically the weakest in the group.

Law then said "I guess this is enough for our first day."

"I don't know whether I should be happy that today's training got over, or worry about training in the coming days." Shachi said.

"Don't worry, it is going to be this difficult only the first month." Law said.

"And what about after the first month?" Penguin asked with hope in his voice.

"You will get used to the pain." Law replied.

They then somehow dragged themselves back to the cave, hunting on their way back. They then finished their dinner and went to sleep.

The next day, Law did the same thing, but with more gorillas, and this time, he cut off one of their fingers, which made them chase Law and his friends the whole day.

Everyday got progressively worse with animals getting more ferocious by the day. Law managed to keep them away from life threatening incidents by using his devil fruit powers when his friends were in danger.

Their training included all the things like swimming, mountain climbing, running, etc.,

Law also through them a little martial arts he learnt from Lao G when he was with Doflamingo.

*Timeskip 1 year*

During this one year, all four of them had drastically changed and they were significantly stronger than before. Law was the one who showed tremendous change since he also trained his devil fruit powers, which also ended up helping him become stronger.

Law was sparring against the three of them. Bepo rushed at La, jumped up and tried to kick Law in his chest, which Law blocked with his arms.

Penguin and Shachi used this chance to punch him in the face and his gut. He did react, but he could only block one of the two attacks and decided it would be quicker to block the punch to the face from Shachi.

Penguin landed his punch to Law's gut and Bepo also followed up with a front kick to his gut.

Law was pushed back, but he didn't stop there. He decided to go offensive and first targetted Penguin.

Law rushed at him and pulled his arm back to punch. Shachi decided to use this opportunity to attack Law again, but Law predicted this.

He immediately turned back and delivered a roundhouse kick to his neck, making sure not to cause any serious injuries.

Law then immediately ignored Penguin who was trying to attack him and ran at Bepo.

Bepo was ready for Law, ready to block any attacks from him. Law came close to Bepo and stood right in front of him, covering his field of vision.

Law then smiled and immediately stepped to the side and Bepo saw Penguin, running towards him and tackled him down.

Penguin then said to Bepo "You talking fluffy bear! What were you doing, standing there when someone is rushing towards you. You were supposed to move out of the way. What if there was a wild boar rushing at you? Would you still just stand there and let it hit you?"

Bepo immediately became depressed and apologized.

Law then walked to them and said "Stop fighting now. Penguin, you are fast, but you can't control it. Also, there is no teamwork. All three of you have to learn to fight as a team, then we can take on a much stronger enemy."

They then spent the day doing things they like and during dinner, Law turned to his friends and said "Guys, now that we are ready, we need to move to our next step in our plan. Before I explain what we are going to do, I want you guys to guess what we need theost right now."

Shachi replied "Experience real fights. All this training is useless when we don't have proper fights."

Law said "You are correct Penguin. What we really need now is enemies. So, I was thinking of starting our pirate career by attacking a marine base."

"WHAT?!!!!" all three of them stopped eating and looked at Law, completely shocked.

Law ignored their reactions and continued, "We need equipment to train, proper food to eat and people to train with. I went to the port yesterday and overhead a few merchants talk about the northernmost region of North Blue, where there are hardly 500 people living there and there is a marine base there that these merchants transport supplies. I was thinking of taking over the marine base for a few years."

Everyone there couldn't believe what they were hearing. Usually, pirates avoid the Navy while the Revolutionary army go against the World government. Now Law wanted to go and attack a marine base on his own.

They were only shocked, but no one objected to the plan. Even though there was a huge risk involved, they completely trusted their captain.

Penguin then asked "How are we going to get there?"

"We can just sneak into the ship that is going there to deliver supplies. It leaves in two days. You can prepare what you want in these two days." Law said.

The next day, Law spent his time checking his abilities again and he noticed that his devil fruit powers were significantly better than before.

He could maintain a decent sized room for an hour. Decreasing the size of the room increased the duration. He could also easily make a small sized boulder float. As for amputation, he has to do it from close range with a knife or sword. He still needs to learn how to use a sword if he needs to amputate things from a distance.

Now that he knew his strengths and limits, he was ready to head out of Swallow Island. The next day, they went to the port and easily sneaked into the ship's storage space. No one noticed the room since it was snowing.
