9 Chapter - 8 Time skip, the Mystery Box and the First Voyage

3 months.

That's all it took for Raiden to learn the Rokushiki.

Rock stopped being gobsmaked after the first month. He soon became numb to Raiden's learning speed and....just went on with the training without thinking much.

He needed to maintain his sanity and reason.

It took Raiden less than 10 days to learn Tekkai, the first Rokushiki he leared given how monstrous his physique was. Although it was hard to use in an actual combat, he was pleased nonetheless.

Second was Soru, well that wasn't all that hard to learn. Even before starting his training, he knew Soru was the easiest given how even cannon fodders used it in manga.

Next was Shigan. Raiden believed some kind of psycopath created this technique. He didn't enjoy training this one...even less using it.

Interestingly enough he learned both Gepo and Rankyaku with least efforts. Both need stronger lower body muscles which he trained for Soru.

(If I'm not wrong they did say as you start learning more techniques it becomes easier to learn the next one.)

Kami-e was the one he had most trouble learning. Just vaguely saying 'Relax your body and let it move like paper.' was bullshit in his opinion.

In actual combat it was really hard to 'relax'.

The first 5 techniques, Raiden learned in less than 2 months.

It took him a month to learn Kami-e.

He resented this technique a lot for some time even after he had it down. That was just his childish tantrum, something Rock ignored.

He was worried about something else.

'He learned all the Rokushiki techniques in 3 months. This level of talent...I'm afraid he won't be able to keep a low profile in marines. Sigh , let's just hope he won't be entangled with the Celestial Dragons.'

"Raiden...well done boy. Go rest for a while."

"Um. Okay!"

Rock saw the boy running away and sighed in his heart.

Raiden looked at his stats and smiled. In just 3 months of training his stats reached a point where he can kill Skylar without his sneaky plans.

Initially he didn't pay much attention to this but his passive skills were absolutely monstrous.

He gained 100% constitution bonus at this point. It was nuts.

He leared the Rokushiki much faster than he anticipated. Out of the initial 6 months he assigned for it, he still had 3 left . So now, he was going to change his plans.

Over these 3 months he developed a liking towards bladed weapons. And he knew exactly where he was supposed to go in order to master how to use them.

He'll be leaving the village for the first time tomorrow.

Rock was in the cellar of his home, gazing at an antique looking box. He knew what was inside it, but it was something way too valuable for someone like him. It was supposed to be something passed down from generation to generation...in hopes that someday, someone would be able to use it.

Rock picked up the box and put it near him as he went to sleep.

This was the last time he'll see this treasure afterall.

With a smile, Rock closed his eyes and went to sleep.

The next day came just as fast. Raiden was getting grilled by his grandma who made sure he had a list of everything he was supposed to do when she was not supervising him.

"...and remember to.." she was about to say something but Raiden cut her off with a hug.

"Huh..?"

"Grandma...I know all that and I have the list, remember?"

*Sigh* " I know boy, still I can't help but be worried."

"Don't worry I'll be back soon." Raiden smiled and kissed her on the cheek.

Mary just sighed and smiled at the boy who was now as tall as her.

These 9 months have done wonders for Raiden. He grew almost a foot taller standing at 5'3 at the age of 10 and had lean muscles all over his body. His medium length silver hair and bright cerulean eyes made him look stunning in Raiden's humble opinion. He did hit the genetic lottery in this life.

He had a simple white t-shirt on with black, knees length pants and both his short swords(previously daggers) on either side of waist, held together with a makeshift belt the Mary made.

"Raiden." While the grandma grandson duo were bantering, Rock's voice came from the front porch.

"I'll see you at the port grandma."

"Hm. Okay. Go now don't keep that old man waiting."

Raiden smiled and ran up to join Rock.

"Come with me...Raiden."

Raiden nodded his head and followed Rock to...well wherever he was taking him. He remained silent because he could feel how serious the old man was.

They reached Rock's house and entered it. Rock led him to his room. Raiden just silently followed him, although the tension was killing him.

Rock still didn't say anything. He pulled out an old box and handed him to Raiden.

"What is it grandpa?"

"Something my grandfather left. It was supposed to be a family heirloom...but, he once said that only let someone who has ambitions to have this."

" I wanted my son to have this once he gained some experience as a marine...now I can only have regrets. Who knows maybe he would've been alive if he used it."

"Take it with you, Raiden it'll only collect dust here. Bob has no intention of being a combatant anyway. Use it well."

Raiden was dumbstruck.

"Are you sure you can give me your family heirloom?"

"Obviously brat. I was entrusted with it. I'm sure it'll be useful to you."

"Let's go now the ship will be leaving soon."

Almost the entire village came to see Raiden off.

'Fuck don't cry!'

Over the past 9 months he did start considering this village his home.

'Ugh! I'm going to miss them.'

No more words were spoken. Raiden gave them one last look as the ship left and port.

It was time to start his journey.

The first stop - Shimotsuki Village
