3 Chapter 3

Just as promised, after completing his latest mission, a big warship came and picked him up.

The highest ranking member on the ship was actually a captain, someone 4 ranks above him.

But Gil didn't interact much with the captain since he only stayed in his room.

Gil was outside with a cigarette in his mouth and a newspaper in his hand.

There were news about pirates ravaging around in the Paradise, the first half of the grand line.

But he didn't care much about that, he only looked at the wanted posters and number under their picture.

The bounties were definitely higher than the ones in the East Blue.

The bounties already entered the millions which made Gil's eyes shine.

Even the captain he killed for 350.000 bellies was as weak as a baby in front of him and he was bored of hunting small fries.

He smiled and thought while inhaling some smoke. 'From now on I'll be able to catch these big bags.

No more playing around with leftovers.'

As they approached the Headquarters, Gil looked at it with a satisfied expression.

This place was about to become his new home.

As they docked in, a squad was waiting near.

The captain finally got out of his room and said while looking at Gil. "The squad there is going to show you around, now leave, I have other things to do."

Gil didn't even spare the Captain a glance and just jumped off the boat.

In his eyes, the Captain wasn't someone worth of his attention since he didn't even bother to welcome him to the ship.

A marine that had a different attire than the rest of the marines said while looking at Gil. "So you're the one that's been cleaning the East Blue of pirates?"

Gil smiled and said. "Yes."

The marine slightly turned around and said. "I heard that you're mainly interested in the rewards of the pirates, not justice itself.

But that doesn't matter here, as long as you're useful it doesn't concern the higherups.

Now, follow me."

After walking for some time, they arrived in an office, done the paperwork and all that boring stuff.

After finishing all of that, the man extended his hand towards Gil and said. "I'm Rear Admiral Akehende and from today onwards you'll be working on my squad."

Gil shook his hand and said. "Pleasure working with you Rear Admiral."

Even though he was surprised that he's now working under a rear Admiral, the 4th highest rank in the entire marines, it definitely meant that he would make more money now.

His new boss walked towards the door and said. "Come on, we're going on our first mission today."

After some time, they arrived at the target of the mission.

They were some pirates that just entered the grand line and wanted to make a name for themselves so they looted villages.

But as soon as they saw the warship, they ran away instantly.

The captain was worth 1.2 million belly which tingled a part of Gil's brain.

'That's a pretty decent bounty.'

He licked his lips and thought. 'That guy's all mine.'

He looked towards the Rear Admiral and said. "Boss, can I take care of these guys?"

The Rear Admiral looked at him and said with a smile on his face. "Are you confident you can beat them?"

Gil smiled and just said. "You want them dead or alive?"

The man laughed and said. "Alright, you're up first."

After he said that, Gil crouched down and jumped towards the ship that was like thirty meters away.

Surprisingly, he made the jump but just barely.

*BAM*

Gil landed on the ship and broke some wooden planks from the impact.

Under the surprised expressions of the pirates, Gil looked around for the face he saw in the poster with his hand on his sword.

It was the graded sword he took from the Destroyer Pirates captain, he decided to not sell it.

After seeing the captain, a scary expression appeared on his face and he charged towards the captain immediately.

The captain looked at the speeding attacker and transformed into a big white bear.

*SLASH*

A big diagonal slash appeared on the bear's skin as the blood flowed out.

The bear roared and swung it's paws towards Gil but it was too slow.

*SLASH*

Gil slid underneath his legs and made a deep cut on the artery on his thigh.

*SLASH* *SLASH* *SLASH*...

He made more deep cuts on the bear's body, avoiding it's sluggish attacks and cutting it relentlessly.

Eventually, the man lost too much blood and transformed back to his human form.

Gil put his sword back in it's sheath seeing the marines that were capturing the demoralized pirates and turned towards the Rear Admiral. "Is his bounty mine?"

The Rear Admiral laughed and said. "Of course, but if he's not alive by the time we get back we'll deduce from your payment since he's a devil fruit user."

The Marine preferred to eternally imprison the devil fruit users so their devil fruit won't appear again after killing them.

Gil was well aware of this and said with a smile. "It's all good.

It was my fault that I got a little too excited."

The Rear Admiral smiled and said. "It's good that you're excited to do your job."

Gil smirked and thought. 'I get it does count as doing my job.

Even though I got carried away slashing away at that bear and not upholding Justice.'

Gil laughed and said. "I guess it does happen."

His boss patted him on the shoulder and said. "You can rest easy and go back to the warship, the other people will handle the rest.

You did a good job."

Gil nodded and said. "Alright."

After getting back to the warship, he went to one of the bedrooms and laid down in the bed.

The smile disappeared from his face and it was instead replaced by a stoic expression.
