1 Chapter 1

Inside of a room that looked like it was a shared military bedroom there were multiple men getting dressed up in their uniforms.

The uniforms were white and blue with the word "Marine" on their back.

Standing on top of a bed there was a young man about 190cm in height with blond hair that was still sleeping.

His sleeping position was unfitting for a member of the marines, he was covered in a long blanket that had a unicorn pattern on it and he was hugging a pillow.

He had a peaceful expression on his face as he was sleeping.

The other marines who were getting dressed up looked at him with helpless expressions.

They looked at each other and said in a low voice.

"Who's going to wake him up?"

Another marine rubbed his chin and said. "Let's play rock paper scissors, no cheating this time."

The three marines nodded at each other and played.

A younger marine who looked to be around 18 years old lost and his face expressed his dissatisfaction.

He looked hopefully at his colleagues and said. "Best out of 3?"

The other two shook their heads, as if saying: "No way."

The young marine sighed, went over to the young man's bed and gulped while looking at the sleeping man.

He gently touched the man and said. "Wake up Gil, we have a mission."

As soon as the young marine touched him, the young man named Gil opened his eyes instantly.

Gil calmly looked at the hand that was touching for a few seconds and then at the young marine.

He smiled with his eyes closed and said. "I was having a good dream and it was just getting to the good part."

The young marine's expression showed a hint of fear and he said. "I'm sorr-"

*BAM*

A palm was met with the young marine's face.

The young marine flew to the floor with blood flowing from his nose and a red mark on his whole face.

The other two marines looked at the young marine with pity as Gil got up from his bed and cracked his back.

He yawned and said while putting on his uniform too. "What's the mission this time?"

One of the two men answered. "We're hunting pirates today, orders from the lieutenant."

Gil raised his eyebrows and said. "Any bounties?"

"It's the Destroyer Pirates, the Captain is worth 350 thousand bellies while the Vice-Captain is 125 thousand."

Gil looked displeased as he said with an annoyed expression. "Tch! They're small fires."

After he finished getting dressed, he walked towards the door and looked back at the young marine that was bandaging his nose. "Oh right.

Sorry for hitting you, I'm a little violent after waking up."

The young man looked at him and said with a helpless expression. "No problem..."

After that Gil turned around with a sadistic smile on his face and went through the door while saying. "Let's go get that money."

Gil was a Lieutenant Junior Grade, the second lowest marine rank.

The people that were in his room were the same rank but they didn't dare to mess with even if they received unfair abuse.

Gil has been in the marines for two years, and even though being stronger than his peers and most of his superiors, he didn't receive any promotion.

The reason being his sadistic nature and violent attitude that befitted a pirate, rather than a marine.

He's even disobeyed his higherups numerous times in the past, but they couldn't get him in jail or out the marines because he was useful.

But Gil didn't really care about his rank or anything like that, he liked money first and foremost.

He stood at a height of 190+ centimeters and had a muscular-lean body that wasn't too big, so he didn't look that muscular with clothes on.

He always wore glasses or sunglasses even though he had no problems with his vision and he was pretty handsome.

But unlike most marines, he never carried a weapon with him.

Most people think it was because of arrogance and confidence in himself.

Which was true, but it was mostly due to laziness.

And the reason why he chose to be a marine instead of a bounty hunter was because a bounty hunter didn't have the authority a marine had.

On a marine ship, there were the four Lieutenant Junior Grades and dozens of Ensigns.

But on the ship, there was another marine that stood out from the rest, it was the Lieutenant himself.

He had a coat on his shoulders that made him stand out.

The Lieutenant was standing behind Gil who was at the edge of the ship, looking at the sea.

The man spoke. "The pirates this time are cruel and vicious, they've looted multiple villages and hilled at least a hundred people just for fun.

But still, they have no confirmed devil fruit users among them."

Gil smiled and said. "So that means that I can do whatever I want with them."

The lieutenant closed his eyes and sighed. "The higherups ordered to have an "accident" happen, we couldn't catch them alive so we had to kill them, something along the lines."

Gil had the same expression on his face as he said. "And that's where I come in."

The man took a cigarette out of his packet and said while lighting it. "That's true, and if you manage to kill all of them, they promised to send you to the headquarters, for doing a good job."

Gil turned around and said while taking the cigarette that was offered to him from his superior. "Finally, I can go after those big bags of money from the Grand Line."

Gil was currently in the East Blue, supposedly the weakest of the sea, where the pirates had small bounties.

The reason he wanted to be dispatched to the headquarters was because he wanted to hunt pirates with bigger bounties.

Gil took a puff from his cigarette and continued looking out to the sea, seemingly lost in thought.
