453 | Sea Battle
Dr Hogback's jaw dropped on the floor as he saw what played out on the screens, "What kind of monsters are they?!"
He had sent multiple sea kings who were infected with his parasites to attack the pirates. But even then, the behemoths weren't posing any challenges for the crew. This was bad.
"This is a huge error on my part!" Dr Hogback said, "I have underestimated them… but I can't back away now. Let's send the rest of the sea kings after the ships. Even if they aren't able to get all of the crew mates, reducing the numbers will suffice… especially if they can sink the ship."
With that in mind, the doctor picked up a special helmet that was on the table. One that he designed to help with the range of his devil fruit powers. Usually, he wouldn't need it, if the pirates were already on Thriller Bark, but as they were far, he needed extra help. His powers had multiple aspects to it, but none knew its secret. This was one of the reasons why Gecko Moria fell, while he rose, so he intended to keep it as such.
With the helmet on his head, the doctor tried to connect with the hive mind, where he was the master. He took control over the sea kings and large beasts that roamed the waters, which had been infected and commanded them to attack the possible location of the straw hat pirates.
If he couldn't defeat them by force, then he would overwhelm them by numbers.
"I just need to buy some time, and make sure they don't reach Thriller Bark." Dr Hogback said, "Soon, my allies will arrive, and I won't need to worry anymore. But just in case…" The doctor took out two small injections from his pocket. They were for emergencies, just in case something happened.
He didn't want to use them as relying on the modified version of the zoan drug would decrease his mental capabilities along with be detrimental to his health. He wouldn't have needed to worry about all of this if, Thriller Bark was still operational.
The island ship was damaged heavily due to the battles taking place on it, rendering it unable to move from one place to another. If that wasn't the problem, Dr Hogback would have left the Florian Triangle. But not everything goes as planned.

Back in The Thousand Sunny,
"Super Sunny Sound Canon!" Franky yelled out over as he fired back rapid blasts of solid sound waves that ripped through the number of sea kings that dared to attack his crew.
"Room!" Law said, encasing a large portion of the area in his room bubble, before unsheathing his sword, "Mass Amputate!" he said, swinging his sword in a wide arc.
The attack connected, cutting through the ranks of the angry sea beasts before they could get near the Thousand Sunny, stopping their charge.
"Spikey Canonbolt!" Gin roared out in his half-zoan form as he rolled up into a spiked ball of death, bouncing from one beast to another. "You wanna see angry! I'm Angry!"
"Falcon Drill!" Johnny called out, in his own half-zoan griffin form, as he dripped through the head of one the sea kings.
Cricket could also be seen jumping from one sea king to another, slicing through their large appendices with ease. A serpentine sea king had targeted him, one of it's eyes already blind. It didn't care about the other of it's kind as it pushed and ripped through anything standing its way.
"You're a tough bastard," Cricket called out, jumping back as he moved, facing the serpentine that opened its maw to gulp him down. "But you ain't smart. Extend Bulkofreed!" He called out as his sword extended to wild lengths piercing through the sea king's mouth coming out from his right eye, before pulling back.
The sea king roared poison cloud as it thrashed about, not seeing anything. Attacking the other sea kings that were near it.
"I need more speed!" Nami called out as she maneuvered the ship out, from this mess.
"On it!" Sanji called out, as he focused on boosting the ship's speed, while others acted to maintain the ship's controls.
The ship shook from the underneath impact, almost toppling Nami over, but White Fury managed to push her back from falling.
"Thank you, girl!" Nami said, giving the white snake a quick head pat before going back to controlling the ship.
"Two sea kings to the east," Vivi called out from the crow's nest.
"I'll take it!" Sparky said, before using soru and geppo to disappear from his spot and attack the oncoming beasts.
While that was happening Luffy finally landed on the Thousand Sunny, his body soaked with blood, "This is worse then I imagined… we need to get out of here, before we are overwhelmed."
"It's not that easy… the sea kings aren't giving us a chance," Nami called out as she controlled the ship out of the mess.
Waves hit the Thousand Sunny, large waves that would have easily toppled any other ship. But the ship sailed strong, not letting go of the speed as it sailed forward.
Zoro and Kuina were not seen fighting on the surface as they were underwater, with Hatchan and Momoo, fighting off the sea kings that were underneath. As they weren't devil fruit users, they could do it.
Zoro even managed to use his flames underwater, as the sea boiled and froze in some spots. Some might wonder how he was able to use a devil fruit weapon underwater. The answer was not letting the water engulf the blade. And doing that with a flaming sword was quite easy.
"We will need to stay behind for a while," Luffy concluded, "Me, Zoro, Kuina, and Sparky will stay back, and draw the sea king's attention… you guys concentrate on finding Thriller Bark and getting the ship out of the sea.
"I-I might be able to help with that…" Brook called out, his clothes also looked roughed up, it seemed he was also helping his new crew in any way possible. "I might be able to turn the ship invisible with my powers… but it will take some time."
Luffy blinked, "Really?" he grinned, "That's great… we will hold them off. And best luck!" With that Luffy again jumped out of the ship, red electricity crackling around his blade as he swag against the group of nearby sea kings. "Guys everyone back on the ship, protect it. Zoro, Kuina, and Sparky with me!"
The crew followed orders as they jumped back to the ship following their captain's orders. At the same time, Luffy's small group stayed behind. It would be tough, but they were confident in their strength.
