26 Chapter 26

26

A month later,

Luffy sat on top of a large rock viewing the empty clouds, "That one looks like a donut."

Sparky shook his head, "Wh wu…" he did some noises and weird hand signs, before pointing at the cloud again.

"No, that doesn't… wait, no. That does look like a lollipop." Surprisingly enough Luffy could understand most of what the monkey said. With its varied face expressions and hand signs it wasn't too hard.

The monkey nodded.

"But that one looks like a pancake."

The monkey was about to say something but its ears perked up.

"It seems someone is out for a visit." Luffy moved his head to the side as he looked at something that was making its way to here, by air. "Is it a plane, is it a bird… no it's an ugly grandpa… Shishishi…"

The monkey deadpanned at Luffy.

"What? That was a good joke."

The monkey shrugged as if saying, 'what ever rocks your boat.'

"Now I feel offended."

The monkey rolled his eyes, before it looked at the incoming Garp and jumped away at the last moment.

Garp crashed fist first, breaking the wind and rock. Creating a dust cloud in the process.

"Do we really have to welcome each other like this all the time?" Luffy mused as he had his hands crossed blocking Garp's punch. He was already in his gear one and his hands were a lot larger, not quite giant-like, but huge enough to block one of Garp's casual punches. Of course, Luffy was using Tekkie on them to negate some of the Armament Haki's damage.

But it wasn't going so well. Nothing could negate the dagme from an experience Haki user. Though, his usage did help him a bit.

Tekkie wasn't supposed to be used while moving, but with Luffy's rubber body he was able to use it while moving. He could use Gear three without blowing air into his bones –he never got how that worked– and so he just enlarged them by stretching the insides of his arms, if it made any sense. And then used Tekkie on it, making it almost strong as using Armament Haki.

Actually, with his use of tekkie, he was excited to use both that and Armament together. Using them both would make him more durable than anything.

"Brat, you have gotten stronger…" Garp grinned as he stopped putting force into the punch and started dusting his clothes. He was in his marine outfit.

"Straight from work?" Luffy asked.

"Yeah, I was thinking of grabbing you and going back to the village… or else I would have to make a two-way trip," Garp said, he looked to his side as the six-armed monkey jumped at him, hugging the old man. "How sweet… why couldn't you and Ace be happy when I came to visit you guys."

Luffy rolled his eyes ignoring the duo. Sparky had a habit of hugging people and being friendly with people he knew… any other people he would try to avoid them. And with Garp's cheerful attitude, it wasn't surprising that he went quite well with him.

Then Luffy became curious about something. "Hey, uh gramps… it's good that I can stay both with the bandits and Makino… but aren't you originally from Goa Kingdom?"

"Yes?"

"Well, uh… I'm not complaining or anything just curious… why don't we have a house in Fossha village or in Goa Kingdom."

"Eh, what do you mean… we have Makino. She's also by relation by granddaughter… I took her in when she was little. Anyway, so the bar and the house behind it is technically ours as well." Garp said as he picked his nose.

"And you didn't ever mention it… till now?" Luffy said, finding it hard to believe. But then again Garp adopted Ace as a grandkid, so maybe that was the same case for Makino. As the old man didn't explain further, he wouldn't question it.

So, wait does that mean Makino was her cousin? It did. Didn't it?

"Eh, never came up." The man shrugged.

Luffy found it almost funny that other than the old man every one of his family members is kinda related to criminals. Also, he would have to keep his mouth shut about Makino and Shank's relation.

A yonko's wife being the granddaughter of the marine hero. He found the situation a bit too funny. But oh well.

"Hey, before we go… can we have a sparing match," Luffy asked, already jumping away from Garp as he took his Naginata prepared for battle.

"Meh… it wouldn't take long anyway…" Garp said, "Sparky you should get some distance away… This will only take a minute." The monkey nodded and quickly dased towards a cover.

"Don't underestimate me, old man!" Luffy was already on Garp with his naginata.

"And don't overestimate yourself brat."

The fight went on for full minute, before it ended with Luffy getting knocked out, Garp being the undefeated victor.

Garp saw his unconscious grandkid, and he had to say, he was impressed. When coming to the island he had seen that all of the giant creatures in the island were avoiding where Luffy was. That meant that Luffy had already conquered the island. Putting himself as the strongest on there.

And while fighting him, Garp was sure to notice the massive improvements that he made. Both strength and skill-wise.

Luffy had changed a lot after Ace left. He was now serious about training. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that in a few years, Luffy might be reaching the ranks of an admiral if he continued with his progression. Maybe four or five years.

With his current strength, he was sure most of the pirates in the first part of the grandline wouldn't be a problem for him.

The wasn't just only dreaming to become the strongest man alive, he was already taking the necessary steps in doing so. His talents were amazing, but unlike other —epically Kuzan or Dragon, who were lazy when young— he was driven by a goal. And that separated him from others.

"That's my grandson!" Garp grinned, putting Luffy's body over his shoulder like a bag of potatoes. "Well, let's go back home." Sparky quickly came out and took his place on Garp's other shoulder.

Also, the monkey had a small backpack with him. Garp didn't question it, might be something they scavenged off the island… With that he took of using a combination of Geppo and Soru to blitz through air.

Luffy's Diary entry on Observation Haki:

Observation Haki:

This is plain and simple. Observation haki, is still haki. Which is related to willpower and strength.

Unless you are a special case, if you don't have an strong enough body, you won't be properly use or even awaken haki. Especially in battle.

Also contrary to popular beliefs, Observation haki is not passive. It's an active skill, so if you are not careful, you might get jumped.

It has three branches,

1. Enhanced Perception

2. Aura Sensing

3. Reading Intentions

1. Enhanced Perception: (Mostly used for Battle)

It's kind of like the Sharingan's ability, or one could say you get into the state of flow where you can almost correctly predict what your opponent might do.

But this is a guess work, and often times new Observation Haki users will be wrong, and only with hardcore training and battle experience can this be improved.

Also, if someone is stronger then you, or has better Observation Haki, this becomes kind of useless, unless you get to their level.

With this predicting normal bullets and arrows becomes easy, because they aren't as complicated. As well as weaker opponents. Though, extreme speed and unpredictability should be taken into account, if not there is a huge chance for mistake.

As even if your opponent doesn't have Observation haki, or has a lower version then yours. If the opponent is faster then you would be to slow to avoid the attack.

2. Aura Sensing: (Mostly for Information)

Can spread out senses to look for opponents or people based on their auras.

This can be fooled with Invisibility Tech.

Exceptions:

Some users of it can use it to gauge potential and hidden strength. But it is mostly a guess, one can be wrong one can be right.

One's hidden strength is usually related to how much willpower someone had. But there are always those that had more willpower then strength.

3. Reading Intentions: (For Both Battle and Information)

With Observation haki, one can read his opponents intention. Mainly used for battle.

One can use it to predict where the opponent might hit, but it can be fooled if opponent has no intention at all. Also the prediction can be also wrong, it mostly depends on the user's skill level.

Also, the more the number of opponents the more harder it gets to do it.

Exceptions:

Some users can use it to hear and understand voice from animals and inanimate objects. 'Voice of All things'

Some users can use it to hear and understand emotions of others.
