15 Chapter 15

Luffy jumped back, avoiding the sword strike that almost hit him in the chest. For a man, Bogard was quite tall, tall as Garp, and that meant he was basically a giant of nine feet.

And Luffy found it really hard to avoid his sword with such a hight difference. More so when he was in sea prism cuffs. He was hardly keeping up, his clothes being drenched with sweat, and the injuries were adding up with his exhaustion.

"Start paying attention, and fight with your weapon." The marine said as he slashed horizontally.

Luffy rolled to his side with his naginata in his hand. He came to Bogard's side and saw an opening. And he didn't waste the opportunity, gave a stab with his weapon only for the marine to avoid it with ease. "Too slow…"

And that was the last thing the straw hat boy heard as he was striked by the flat side of the marine's blade knocking him off.

"You would have lost your head, if I was the enemy!" Board barked, only to stop when he saw Luffy not standing up. He flipped his body to the side and saw that the boy was out.

The strike shouldn't be able to knock him out, but exhaustion did the job for him. "His endurance is quite amazing." The marine mumbled, sheathing his sword.

"Bahaha… it seems that you won again. Ain't that right Luffy?" Garp laughed, before looking at his grandson. Who was out for the count. "Huh… couldn't keep up. Well, it's to be expected with you around."

The Marine Hero smiled at the Bogard who gave him a flat look.

"He's really energetic… two days of non-stop training and only now he's out… quite impressive," Bogard said, while the white Marine coat with the kaji of 'Justice' fluttered on his back. "You know other marines would have been able to survive for that long… But then again, he has quite the fast recovery like a certain someone, so that might be the reason."

Some would call it overtraining… training for two days non-stop without eating or sleeping. Well, Bogard did sleep or eat, but Luffy didn't. When he wasn't sparing with Luffy, he would make sure to give the hand over the boy's training to his grandfather, or the local monkeys. Meaning Luffy was pushed to brink in the past two days.

Well, he wouldn't be pushing the boy so far, if it wasn't his last day of training.

Unlike the marine hero, Bogard had some duties, so he could only train Luffy for a month. And it was barely any time to drill the basics of weapon use into the boy. So he had to push the boy beyond his limits, he could only keep up because of his insane recovery.

But then again he was the grandson of the marine hero, and the son of the most wanted man alive. Of course, he would have some ridicules genetics.

"Seesh! He's out cold." Garp said, kneeling down towards Luffy, and slapping the boy to wake him up. But Luffy didn't respond at all. Bogard also kneeled down at the sleeping boy, and took off the sea prism cuffs.

The cuffs were only for trining… also sea prism cuffs were quite rare. And he didn't want to leave it here on the island, that was marine properties.

"Sengoku-san is really angry at me for not keeping you at your post," Bogard said as he stood up. "He called yesterday, he wasn't pleased at all. He even threatened me with bubble man duty."

Garp just laughed, munching on his rice crackers. "Just tell, him that I am spending some quality time with my grandson. He's going to be a marine one day." He laughed, "And he's a very skilled fighter also…"

The man gave him another flat look, "Why don't you tell him yourself."

"Come one Bogard, I can't do that. Or he'll scold me for… well, being me." With that, he laughed again. "Anyway, how was Luffy's training, he wanted me to help him learn to cut steal, so can he now?"

Bogard gave the marine hero a deadpanned look. "Swordsman-ship doesn't work like that. Luffy is a skilled fighter, no question about that. But I don't think one month is enough to make someone learn how to cut steal. I tell him about the basic concept, but it will be up to him if he manages to unlock the technique and strength needed for it." The man sighed at the last part, while the marine hero laughed.

"So, it's his fault that he couldn't learn it," Garp said, grinning. "And here I thought he was some prodigy… but it seems that he's just stubborn and hard-headed. At least after that he couldn't say, that I didn't keep my part of the bet."

"He obviously gets that from you and his father…" a small smile came on Bogard's face before it turned into a frown, "But I don't think you should pull me in next time you make a bet.."

Garp's laughing stopped as he started coughing. "Well, you know me… I don't like fighting with weapons… and you are the only swordsman I know that I can trust. Also, he's goning to be a great marine soon."

The other man nodded, "You said the same thing about your other grandkid, who is you know who's son. And he's making quite the name for himself in the grandline…"
