Chapter 33: Dawn Returns to Mariejois

With the arrival of dawn, the morning light gently streamed into the room, dispelling the lingering darkness and uncertainty. Kong cautiously scanned his surroundings, his muscles still tense, maintaining a high level of vigilance.

Several minutes passed, but the ghostly figure in white didn't make another appearance. It was as though it had truly left him alone.

Outside the room, uniform footsteps echoed, signaling the arrival of the CP0 director.

"Commander Kong!"

The CP0 director, the first to arrive on the scene, entered the room with a dignified yet nervous expression.

Kong and the CP0 staff had an agreement that they would act swiftly if any unusual situation arose.

Communication was lost the previous night, and the Surveillance room faced a terrible accident.

However, no information had been received throughout the night. They worried about Kong, yet no one dared to enter his room, as Kong had explicitly forbidden them from doing so.

It was a testament to their trust in his strength, coupled with the understanding that this room had turned into a deadly zone when the white-robed female ghost appeared.

The CP0 director, after seeing Kong unharmed, felt relief. Although the female ghost had killed Cypher Pol staff in an unpredictable manner, Kong's formidable power had kept him safe. He knew that Kong's strength was crucial for holding the rank of Admiral in the Navy.

However, the director's relief was short-lived. He noticed the unusual condition of Kong's complexion. Kong's face was pale, as if he had suffered a significant trauma. Most notably, there was a peculiar black handprint on Kong's arm, resembling that of a woman's hand.

Additionally, Kong's back showed signs of torn clothing, with his exposed muscles appearing blackish-white. His backbones were eerily visible through his skin.

Before the CP0 director could inquire about Kong's well-being, the Commander spoke out firmly, "Don't worry about it. I'm heading to meet with the Gorosei."

With that, Kong swiftly left the room, making his way toward the Five Elders.

At the same time, the special miniature Earpiece Den Den Mushi in his ear restored communication. Shocking news reached his ears: "Saint Du Bois was killed!"

Kong was astounded. Another Tenryubito had perished? He couldn't believe it. Following Sadako's appearance before him, she hadn't vanished but had embarked on a killing spree throughout Mary Geoise.

Meanwhile, in Impel Down, Lucas got up from his bed, stretching his body after witnessing Sadako's night of carnage through her eyes. He removed the blindfold and adjusted his eyes to the light. However, he couldn't rest. In addition to monitoring Sadako's actions, he was repeatedly interrupted by system prompts ringing in his mind.
