Swordsmanship Classes:
Novice - The sword is only a tool, albeit being your Weapon of Choice.
Amateur - You are comfortable wielding it, and have trust in your blade, counting it as your major strength. You have started developing your own style.
Veteran/Expert - Your sword is an extension of your limb, and you can wield it with remarkable ease and in a refined manner. By now, your unique fighting style has manifested itself completely, and you are now able to perform feats that would otherwise have not been possible. (E.g Air Slashes.)
Master - It is where your Sword becomes your Will. You have faith in your Sword that it won't let you down, and you would honour it back by not letting it down either. This is when you can start imbuing your Haki with your Blade, not only making it durable (Which any proficient Haki User can do with any weapon even if they have never used it), but also making it sharper and more deadly. Once you can successfully imbue your Haki with your Sword, you can now make your Haki an extension/shadow of your sword (Make it longer/become its shadow blade).
Achieving the Pinnacle of this Class of Swordsmanship would enable you to cut through things that are considered hard (Metals, Stones) with absolute finesse and ease, not requiring much strength that you otherwise would have needed.
Only a Swordsman with a very High Proficiency in Armament Haki can become a Master Swordsman.
Grandmaster - It is where your Sword has a Will of its own. It will continuously attract your Haki in itself, making it stronger, and start changing in colour. When you arrive at the Pinnacle of this Class, your sword would have permanently changed in colour. It would now exude an intimidating Presence whenever drawn, which could weaken the Will of the opponents, and even the Will of its wielder if it overpowers them.
Anything in the hand of a Grandmaster Swordsman, be it a stone, stick, or leaf, will become a sword. And they can decide what to cut and what not to cut.
At the pinnacle of this Class, there would be nothing in the World that one can not cut.
