15 Chapter 13

Opening his eyes, James found himself on a hill.

[Protect the village.

Time until pirates' arrival: 3 minutes.

Villagers: 243/243.

Win condition: Defeat all Pirates (64/64)

Lose condition: More than 10 villagers die]

Seeing that he only has 3 minutes, he started running towards the shore, looking at the distance he can see a pirate ship coming closer.

'I don't have time to evacuate the villagers.'

He barely had time to get to the shore before the pirates arrive, he didn't want to risk them landing before he arrives there and letting some of them reach the village.

Finally arriving at the shore, he could see that the ship was less than a minute away.

'Swamp Shot!'

James kicked his leg in the direction of the ship, while his leg was moving, it started turning into swamp and from it a huge swamp ballista arrow shot out in the direction of the ship and hardened very fast, making it cut through the air without losing momentum.

'Please work.'

James hoped to take the ship down with this, but he knew it will probably not work.

After a few seconds of flight, the ballista arrow hit the ship and went through the side, making a hole in the ship and make the pirates on board panic.

[Pirates: 52/64]

Looking at the system window that he took down 12 pirates, made him sigh in relief that he has 12 enemies less, but there was a thought in his mind that didn't stop bothering him.

'They might be dead.'

It was the thought that he probably killed some if not all 12 of them with that attack.

He knew they were bad, but he still killed more things.

'Snap out of it!'

Punching his cheek, James tried to snap out of those thoughts and focus on the enemies ahead.

'Another one, Swamp Sho-'

Before he could use the attack again, he sensed something coming towards his head and turned it into swamp, allowing a bullet to pass through it.

After that he sensed more bullets and he had to keep turning parts of his body to let the attacks through.

Meanwhile, although almost sinking, the ship arrive on shore.

"That's the guy!! Attack!!"

Shouted the captain of the pirates, making them all run towards James.

'Fuck'

While pirates were running towards him, James was still being shot at.

"Haaa!!!"

"Die!!!"

5 pirates jumped on him with their swords swinging at his body, but with them coming so close to him, the pirates shooting at him had to stop, giving some breathing room to James.

"Swamp thorny armor."

Many parts of James's body turned into swamp and out of them came swamp spears, stabbing anything close to him.

"HAAAAAA!!"

All 5 pirates were stabbed in many places by the spears, killing them in seconds.

'Swamp overtake'

Swamp started covering the area around him, using swamp overtake on a large enough area for all pirates to be on takes a lot of stamina, but James wanted to end it as soon as possible before a pirate gets away somehow.

'Swamp attack.'

Spears made of swamp came out of the swamp and stabbed everyone standing on the swamp.

[Pirates: 0/64]

[All pirates defeated]

'I did it?'

James couldn't believe that he finished the mission that easily, but looking around he saw all the corpses around him.

Before he could get depressed, another message appeared.

[Hidden pirate boss appears in the village]

[Reach the village before it is destroyed]

[Defeat Rani the Snatcher]

Seeing this, he started running towards the village as fast as he can.

Meanwhile, the system started panicking, it doesn't know anything about this trial, so when James defeated the pirates, it wanted to tell James that he saved the villagers and maybe having the villagers cheer for him will make him feel better, but a sudden enemy appeared near the village, the system started worrying that if the villagers died James might blame himself for not being fast enough.

It started doubting if its creator really wanted to help.

Finally arriving at the village, James didn't see any destruction or bodies, just a peaceful village.

"Yuhuhuhuhuhu"

Looking behind him, James saw a man, he was about 3 meters tall, with a skinny body, he had short gray hair and gray eyes.

The moment James saw him, he felt danger.

"You!! Yuhuhu, you are strong!!"

Shouted Rani.

'Swamp overtake.'

"So are you"

James answered while secretly he started spreading his swamp in rani's direction.

"Devil fruit? Yuhuhu!!"

Even though he tried doing it secretly, somehow Rani found out.

'Fuck.'

Having his plan seen through, James gave up on a secret attack and just used a skill.

'Third form: Stone throwing!'

James ran a bit forward before doing a flying kick that seemed to defy the laws of gravity and made him fly forward at high speeds.

"Cute!"

Just before James made contact with Rani, he moved to the side, letting James pass him and hit a boulder, destroying it.

"My turn! Yuhuhuhu!! Snatch vision"

Suddenly, James lost his vision, he could see anything and it made him panic.

[Host, calm down, it is a devil fruit effect, as long as you defeat him you will get it back]

That helped calm him down a bit.

"Now you can't see, Yuhuhuhuhu!!"

'I fucking hate his laughing!!'

Using observation haki, James used another attack, hoping to catch Rani off guard.

'Swamp shot!!'

James kicked a swamp ballista arrow at Rani.

"Oh?"

The attack surprised Rani, but it wasn't enough to hit him, moving to the side a bit, Rani dodged the attack.

'He dodged that?!'

James was genuinely surprised, the swamp shot moves at incredible speeds, to dodge that someone will either have to be extremely fast or…

"Observation haki."

"Yuhuhuhuhuhu!! You just now noticed?"

'I was right.'

This was one of the time James didn't want to be right, a fast enemy is a problem, but one with observation is even worse.

'Wind walk!'

Using wind walk, James moved at extreme speeds towards Rani.

'First form: Stone hammer!!'

James delivered a fast and strong kick, but Rani already saw it coming and dodged.

"Your attacks are predictable! Even without haki I could predict them!"

James didn't have much fighting experience, never mind against someone with observation.

'Do I have to use it?'

"Snatch observation haki."

Suddenly James felt his observation haki disappear.

"Fuck!"

"Panicking? Yuhuhuhuhu!! This is my devil fruit, the snatch snatch fruit, it allows me to snatch anything I know the name of."

'What kind of busted devil fruit is that?!'

"Snatch speed"

Suddenly, James felt his speed leave his body, making him feel slow.

"Snatch hearing"

James started panicking more, he couldn't hear or see now, and with no observation he was completely blind to everything.

"Well, time to end it, Yuhuhuhuhuh!!"

Saying that, Rani pulled out a pistol, as much as he didn't see James as a threat anymore, he couldn't be too safe with a devil fruit user.

'I have to use it!'

James really didn't want to use it since he was worried that there might be another boss or something, but at this point not using it was suicide.

'Swamp overtake overdrive!'

It was the same as the normal overtake, just with one difference, it is a lot faster and takes a lot more stamina.

"Shit!"

Rani was caught off guard with how fast it moved and didn't have enough time to escape from it.

'I feel you now bastard!! Swamp fight!!'

The swamp is still part of his body and Rani didn't take his feeling of touch, so James could feel where Rani was on the swamp.

Suddenly, Rani was hit by a strong hit to the head.

But when he looked at the direction it came from he saw nothing.

Something hit him again in his abdomen, making him lose his air.

And again nothing was in that direction, the weird part is that he couldn't sense it with his haki either.

It was like being attacked by an invisible enemy.

And so hit after hit came and Rani could do nothing but defend.

As for what the attacks are, if someone could see fast enough, they would see many small Jameses moving around really fast and hitting Rani with punches and kicks, as for why Rani's haki didn't work, it was because to his observation, the little swamp Jameses felt the same as the swamp overtake, making them not appear at all, it was just not advanced enough.

(Now, I know that this is probably bs, but I really can't think of another way for him to not see them, honestly, at the start I planned swamp fight to create swamp limbs and not small Jameses, but I wanted to try making it make a bit more sense so I just made small Jameses that might make it more believable since they are small, anyway, hope it doesn't ruin the story and I will let you finish the chapter, enjoy.)

The little Jameses weren't too strong, so they didn't do much damage, but they were very fast and with so many the damage started piling up.

'I have to finish it now!'

Swamp takeover overdrive takes a lot of stamina and adding to that swamp fight which also takes a lot, means his stamina is really low by now, so he needed to finish it with one last attack.

'Swamp attack!!'

Although he can't see, he can still feel where Rani is, so he used an attack that needs less aiming and is lethal.

The swamp under Rani started moving and he noticed that, but he could move out of the way with swamp fight attacking him.

"Fuc-"

He was cut off when 5 spears came out of the swamp and impaled him, killing him instantly.

'I can see!'

James finally had his senses and speed back.

And with them back so did relief and tiredness come.

Making him fall to the ground and retrieve all the swamp back into his body.

"I'm tired, but at least I wo-"

James looked at the body of Rani and felt like puking, his head had 2 holes in it, showing the brain, his chest showed a bleeding half heart and the inside of a stomach with leaking blood and gastric juice.

Well, never mind felt, James started puking his guts out.

And so ended a tough fight between James and his first enemy with both a devil fruit and haki.

What will happen to James now? Will he stop puking? Find out next time!!

Also, this ending was a bit disturbing I won't lie, but as the saying goes!
