1 Chapter 1: Rebirth

~ Year 1484 ~

On a random island in the East Blue, a woman screamed in agony as she prepared to give birth.

"John!! If I don't die from this, I'm gonna kill you!" the woman on the bed yelled in anguish at the sheer magnitude of pain she was feeling.

The man simply smiled as he held her hand tight in an attempt to comfort her, though from the force at which she was squeezing his hand, he felt prepared to yell out as if he was in just as much pain as she was.

Time seemed to fly as hours passed, with the woman's screams dying down as a new life was successfully brought into this new world.

The woman held the child in her hand, with the doctors passing the infant to her extremely gently.

"It's a girl." the doctor said, though the way that the mother held her newborn child was as if she was holding a precious gem.

"John. Look at her. Our baby girl. She's so adorable." The woman said before cooing at her child, while the child stared back at her with delight.

"Yeah Ann, she's beautiful." John said while staring at his newborn daughter.

However, neither of them knew of the great shockwaves that the child in their hands would bring to the world that they were in.

In a deep and infinite void of nothingness, a small light stared at the young woman before him, his gaze carrying nothing but pity.

"Hello, Cathleen. I am an abstract being, one that holds near infinite power, and perhaps I could be considered the closest thing to the Biblical God that you have met so far. Usually, I only come to souls in certain circumstances of events, though the effects you have made in your life, while not massive, spoke volumes to show me that humanity was still capable of great things." The light said as it stared down at Cathleen.

"Did I really cause a great enough effect that it could attract the attention of a being like you?" Cathleen asked

"In your lifetime, you stuck up for the children who were in school with you against their bullies and even tutored them in an attempt to help them become better. You chose to become an attorney to help those who were incarcerated but felt like they deserved another chance. You became a devout attorney who helped those with whatever they needed, even at the expense of yourself. These sacrifices saved many who truly repented for their actions or were even wrongfully imprisoned, while also remaining helpful to the victims that this could also affect. Even after your death, your noble yet naive goals left a major impact on all who they affected. These actions even moved a being such as myself, to the point that I chose to give you a second chance at life if you wish it. You may also join the others in heaven if you feel that your job on Earth is done. So, what do you wish?" The light asked.

Cathleen thought it over, before asking a question with a smile.

"If I go to this new world, will I be able to help new people?"

The light seemed to shine brighter at her response as he spoke

"Absolutely. And since you have made your choice, I'll give you a gift to aid you in your endeavor. The world you are going to is one that is plagued heavily by corrupt rules and evil, therefore, I'll give you the power to place rules of your own upon that world."

After saying this, the light seemed to grow further from Cathleen, with the last thing she heard before fading into the darkness being a simple phrase

"Live free child. Enjoy your second chance at life."
