49 Law

It took over an entire week to cross the north blue and get to Swallow Island. In that time, August remained vigilant with his training and managed to come up with some results.

His Shatter energy was much easier to control and move around, which would benefit him greatly in his fights. The main objective he set out to achieve also showed some results, as his Shatter energy was much more fluid like, but August could tell there was room for improvement.

Still, after only a week August was happy with the results he obtained.

The team led by August docked at the main port of Swallow Island.

As August and his crew were about to get off the ship, a loud voice echoed in his ear.

"STOP!"

He looked to the source of the noise, where he found a man who looked to be in his 40's aiming a gun at him. One by one, people appeared from the shadows, holding various weapons such as spears, swords, and pikes.

The group of people got into formation, standing behind the man with weapons gripped tightly.

"Who are you and what business do you have coming to my Island!? Are you a pirate!?" The man demanded, his authoritative voice carrying only a small amount of fear.

August raised his hands up in a defensive manner and gave off the friendliest smile he could muster, "Relax, Relax. I'm not a pirate, and I'm not here to hurt you."

The words slightly eased the crowd's worries of an upcoming fight, but they still remained cautious, after all pirates lived and breathed in lies.

"If you're not a pirate then what are you!? And no sudden movements!" He cocked his gun back, slightly squinting his eye in case he needed to shoot.

"I'm a revolutionary."

The man's eyes spluttered out of his sockets, "W-What!? A Revolutionary!? The same Revolutionaries that overthrow kingdoms and kill innocents!?"

August merely sighed at the man's words. The public's perception of the Revolutionaries wasn't great. After all, the World Government controlled many sources of news, so it was almost guaranteed for the WG to spread bad information about them.

"Yes, but that's no–"

*BOOM*

The man didn't hesitate and immediately pulled the trigger. Of course, to August the bullet seemed slow, so he tilted his head to the side as it grazed past him.

Before anyone could process the situation, August appeared in front of the man. He crushed the gun with his bare hands, looking at the man with an intense stare, "You shouldn't believe everything you hear. Contrary to what the news says, we are here to help you."

"Help?" The man muttered in shock.

"It's a long story." August sighed, already anticipating the millions of questions he had. This was going to be a long day.

====

"So that's how it is! YAHAHAHAHAHA." The man who August learned was called Yaaj, let out a hearty laugh as August finished explaining the situation.

Like he expected, he had to answer almost a million questions, some out of caution, with others purely out of curiosity.

"So Germa 66 is coming to attack, and you're here to help?"

August nodded to the man while sipping his tea, "That's the gist of it. So, do you agree to let us help?"

August learnt that the man was the mayor of the island and responsible for most of the decisions, so he asked him straight up. If Yaaj agreed, then so would the rest of the people of the island. It would make it much easier in the long run if everyone worked together and there was no conflict between the 2 parties.

"Yeah," Yaaj agreed, "Just the thought alone of what could happen when Germa 66 attacks is enough to make me scared. I greatly appreciate your help." He said sincerely.

"No problem, it's what we do. I'd like to suggest only sending experienced combatants to fight with us. The normal Germa soldier is much stronger than a normal human, and it wouldn't be difficult to kill them."

Yaaj chuckled, "I was thinking along the same lines. I have a group of say…10 experienced fighters who could kick those emotionless fuckers asses."

"Ok." August nodded, before changing the topic. If there was a main reason he came to this Island outside of stopping Germa, it was because of Law.

"I've also heard…rumours about a mysterious surgeon who can supposedly heal anything." He said.

"You heard about that?" He said with a surprised look, "We try not to spread any information about this surgeon at his request, but I suppose some things slip through the cracks."

He sighed, running his hands through his hair.

"I'm only telling you this because you have good intentions, and the fact I owe you one. His name is Law, a quiet young man. He lives on the outskirts of the Island, in a little shack in the woods."

"Can you point me in the direction of the woods?" August asked, getting up from his seat and stretching his limbs.

"Why?"

"Well we need all the help we can get."

=============

From the intelligence they gained Germa 66 would be here in roughly 4-5 hours. In that time August would need to convince Law to help fight for his Island as well as make the preparations for the defence of the Swallow Island.

August was taking this seriously, as he wanted no loss of life on his side. Law would help significantly with that with his fighting prowess and skill as a surgeon.

He walked in the direction Yaaj pointed him in and eventually made his way to the woods. The woods were cold, with a thin layer of mist surrounding the dark oak trees.

His Haki sensed numerous forms of life, none of them possessing any threat to August. As he walked further into the forest, his Haki picked up a much stronger presence than the rest.

'This must be Law.'

Although Law has not awakened Haki yet, August could tell he had a strong will, fuelled by a raging river of anger and determination.

Recalling Law's past, August wasn't surprised. After going through what Law did, anyone would feel the same.

As he got closer, his presence got stronger, all the way until he was in eyesight of the man.

*THWACK*

*THWACK*

*THWACK*

"Huff…Huff…More speed!" The man said, repeatedly slamming his wooden sword against the tree.

*THWACK*

*THWACK*

"Is it dead yet?"

It may have been a poor choice of words to say, but August couldn't resist. Even as Law summoned his Room and attacked the intruder, he still kept the cheeky smirk on his face.

Law swiped his kendo sword, sending a slash aiming to cut August in half. August, who saw this, stood there as the invincible swipe was stopped by his armament coated stomach.

"What!?" Law said in shock.

"Relax." August said, trying to calm Law down. What was it with this island and people attacking him without warning? Well, to be fair it was partially his fault not choosing his words better.

Law took a deep breath, looking at the man who snuck up on him with ease, "What do you want? You don't look injured."

"Swallow Island is being attacked, we need your help."

"We? You mean the people of the island? And who are you?"

"That's exactly what I mean. Lets just say I have my own team of helpers to help protect the townsfolk, but we need more manpower, the enemy is strong. As for who I am, I was hired by Mayor Yaaj to protect the town from Germa."

Law seemingly nodded at his words, "Who's the enemy? Pirates?" He growled the last word out.

"Germa"

Law's eyes shot open, "Germa 66…Warrior of the sea." He muttered.

"What?" August asked.

"Nothing." Law blushed slightly, "If it's a fight against Germa 66, then I'm in."

August closed the distance, holding his hand out, "August. Nice to be working with you."

"Sora, nice to meet you." Law said with a straight face.

"Is that really your name?"

Law was silent for a couple of seconds, "No..."
