Chapter 27: White sea

After riding the stream for what felt like forever, they finally reached the end and collided against the fossilized cloud, and came out on the other side.

Everyone collapsed on the deck, exhausted by the trip.

"Damn…Is everyone alright?." Zoro huffed.

"Hey!, guys, look outside the ship!" Luffy was smiling like a little kid.

They all stood up with difficulty and looked outside.

"Whooaa!" That was the general reaction.

The ship was literally floating in a sea of clouds. There was only whiteness everywhere one looked.

"We are on top of the clouds, how are we sailing on clouds?" Nami could not believe what she was seeing.

"This is not a normal cloud but that fossilized cloud that Mister Montblanc talked about." Said, Vivi.

"We finally made it!, this must be the Sky Island then!" Said Usopp excitedly.

Nami looked at her log pose.

"Wait, the arrow is still pointing up."

"Maybe this is only the middle part of the millennium cumulonimbus," Robin suggested.

"So, we need to go higher? how?" Chopper wondered.

It didn't take long before Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper got bored and started to fool around.

"Check this out!, Captain Usopp is going for a swim." Usopp took off his clothes and got on top of the rail.

"Ey!, don't do something stupid, we know nothing about these waters." Sanji tried to warn him but Usopp would not listen and jump down.

After some time passed, the crew was getting worried.

"He's not coming up…" Said Chopper.

"That was really foolish, we don't even know if there is a sea floor at all." Vivi pointed out.

"Don't tell me….that the idiot had fallen back into the sea." Said Zoro.

"Usopp!!" Luffy extended his arm and send it underwater.

"Extend your arm as far as you can!." Said, Robin.

"But I won't be able to see him." Said Luffy.

"Leave that to me." Robin closed her eyes. "Ojos fleur."

Luffy keeps extending his arm until Robin finally spotted him.

"Seis fleur!, I got him! you can pull him up." Robin finally said.

Luffy quickly pulled Usopp back on the deck but something followed him. A giant octopus came out of the water and prepared to attack the Going Merry.

"There is nothing to be scared of." Zoro jumped off the ship made cut it into pieces with ease.

"That's odd." Said Sanji after getting hold of a piece of the octopus. "There is barely any meat. Is like the creature was filled with air."

"Animals here must have evolved differently that the ones living on the surface. We can expect to find a lot of strange species." Said, Vivi.

"Ahh!! My pants!!" Usopp started yelling.

"Stop being so noisy! what is it now?" Sanji was getting tired of his crewmate already.

"My pants, this thing was in my pants!." Usopp removed a big yellow fish and showed it.

Robin was the first one to grab it.

"So, this would be a sky fish. How interesting."

"Sanji, I want to eat it!" Demanded Luffy.

"yes yes…" Sanji grabbed the fish and went to the kitchen.

They had a few minutes of peace until Chopper started to call for them.

"Guys!, look! I found a ship." Chopper said while using the binoculars.

"A ship? let me see!" Usopp walked to Chopper.

"Yes, and it looks like a pir-"

They all heard a loud explosion and saw fire and smoke coming from afar.

"What happened?" Asked Nami.

"The ship blew up!." Exclaimed Chopper.

"What? let me see." Usopp took over the binoculars.

"Oh!, it's true, there is a destroyed ship over there….wait!! there is someone approaching!."

They looked overboard at the figure that was getting close very fast.

"It looks like a human…wait, is he running on the clouds?!" Said Sanji.

The mysterious human jumped on the rail and looked at them.

"Eliminate."

"Looks like He wants to fight…" Said Sanji.

"Bring it on!" Zoro took out his swords.

The mysterious man moved at incredible speed through the air and managed to land a hit on Zoro and Sanji, knocking them down.

He then jumped back in the air and aimed his weapon at the ship.

"Enough!." Another voice was heard and a second flying figure attacked the mysterious man, sending him away before landing on the Going Merry.

"What is going on now?!, who are you?"

It was an old man wearing medieval armor and a spear. Next to him was a strange pink bird.

"I'm am the knight of the sky." He introduced himself as such.

"Thank you for saving us!." Nami smiled. She then turned to Zoro and Sanji who were just getting up.

"You guys are useless!."

"This is frustrating." Complained Sanji.

"I couldn't move as I'm used to." Said Zoro.

"That's probably because of lack of oxygen, there is less of it the higher you go." Explained Robin.

"Are you citizens of the blue sea?" Asked the sky knight.

"Yes, we are." Answer Vivi.

He nodded.

"That would explain it. This place is called the white sea and is located seven thousand meters above the blue sea. Above this place is the white-white sea at ten thousand meters. Average citizens of the blue sea will not be able to stand it."

"Actually I'm already getting used to it." Said Luffy.

"Yeah, me too." Said Zoro.

The knight was shocked.

"No, there is no way. That's not possible."

"Well, they aren't really what you would call 'average citizens'…" Said Vivi.

"What about that guy from before?, how come He could run on the clouds?" Asked Chopper.

"You probably have a lot of questions. But first, let me talk business with you. I am a freelance mercenary. This is a very dangerous part of the sea, especially for those who don't know anything about aero-battles. Each whistle will cost you fifty million extols, then I will come to save you."

They all looked at him with confusion.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Luffy.

"Quit acting like a fool!. Is a very good price, if I lower it more I won't be able to make a living." Said the knight.

"That's not what we are asking. What whistle are you talking about? And whats an extol?" Asked Sanji.

His eyebrows shot up.

"No way….you guys…you didn't come here through the top of high waist. You should have been to one or two islands already."

"What are you talking about? we just go here." Said Luffy.

"Wait…are you saying that there was another way up here?" Asked Nami.

"Don't tell me….that you guys came with that monstrous stream." Said the knight in shock.
