Chapter 13: The blue door

After sending everyone else away and closing the door, King Cobra approached Vivi.

"What is it so important?"

"It's about Luffy and his crew…I"

"You want to join them?" Her father asked, but didn't seem angry.

Vivi nodded. "I know is a selfish thing to say with the current state of the country. But I know that my place is out there, traveling the Grand Line and not in a palace."

King Cobra sighed.

"I thought that something like this could happen after Ingram told me about those pirates. You were always lonely growing up in the palace….fine. You have my blessing to go."

"Thank you, father." She was planning on leaving anyways but it felt good to have her father's approval.

"But know this." The Kings face turned serious.

"If you leave to become a pirate I will be forced to disinherit you. The heir or Arabasta cannot be a wanted criminal, that would have a tremendously negative impact on the country."

She was already expecting this so it didn't take her by surprise.

"Yes, I understand."

There was a moment of silence in the room before Vivi decided to bring up the next topic.

"Father, there is one more thing. I know that there are two rooms in the palace that are out limits for everyone. Does one of them have a light blue door?." She asked.

Her father was surprised, very few knew about that room.

"There is one like that, yes."

"I know this is too much to ask. But I need to see that room, please. Is important."

The King watched the determined eyes of his daughter for a moment. Then smiled.

"I was planning on taking you there even if you didn't ask. Follow me."

Once they got past the guards, they entered a corridor. The corridor that they were walking through reminded her of the one she saw in her dream. But this time, it was just a normal corridor and she could see a door at the end.

'That's it!, that's the door I have been seeing.'

She observed the door, it was made of some type of wood that had a light blue color to it. Other than the strange color, the door was very plain for something that one would find in a royal palace, it didn't even have a door handle and Vivi wondered how it was open.

Her father stopped in front of the door.

"This door is quite special. Only those with the Nefertari bloodline can open it. It was created for our distant ancestors by a civilization that has now gone extinct."

"An extinct civilization? what were they called?." She wondered if they had anything to do with that Empire that was destroyed by the World Government.

Cobra shook his head.

"I don't know. That's all the information there is about it I'm afraid. Records of that era were lost and there are only some mentions here and there."

"What is this room, father?" She could not help but ask. What could they be warding with such security?

"You are familiar with the treasury of the palace, yes?." Her father asked and she nodded. She had some memories of it.

"Only a selected few know that there is a second treasury, where we keep hidden the most valuable or irreplaceable objects in the country." He then proceeded to put his hand in the middle of the door.

They gained a faint shine to it and then they heard a click before the door opened.

As they entered, Vivi was surprised. The room was smaller than she expected from a treasury.

There were several shelves with items on them and at the end of the room was an old desk.

She looked at some of the objects displayed on the shelves. Wooden boxes, gold jewelry boxes, a few sabers, swords, and many old books.

Everything in the room seemed to be ancient and very valuable.

Her father stopped in front of a set of boxes.

"Open them."

Vivi approached and did as told. She opened one of the boxes.

"Gasp!, those are!." Said Vivi in surprise.

"Indeed. You can take whichever you want. They are all marked." Said her father.

Inside the box that she had just opened was a very peculiar fruit. It looked like an apple but it had many spiral patterns on it.

"Those are devil fruits." She said while looking at the boxes on display. There were five of them.

She closed the box and looked at the label.

"Zoan: Eagle model."

She then looked at the other names. They were all zoan types.

"Cheetah, Orangutan, Lynx, and Black Bear"

"We always award our strongest warriors with a zoan-type fruit. It has been a tradition in our family for ages. But I can make an exception this time and allow you take to eat one. The life of a pirate will be a dangerous one, my dear daughter and I want you to be as safe as possible." Said her father.

She looked at the fruits and wondered which one was the best for her, but there was something wrong, they didn't feel right.

'I don't think those fruits were the ones calling me here, there must be something else.'

"Father, are there any other fruits in here?." She asked.

He raised an eyebrow at the question. "Are you not satisfied with these?, we paid huge amounts of money to acquire them. Devil fruits are extremely rare, Vivi."

"Is not that, but I have this feeling that there is something calling for me here." She decided to take another look around the room. She felt a tingling sensation when she got close to the desk at the end of the room.

"What is this?." There was a beautifully decorated box on top of the table.

"Huh?, I don't remember seeing that box before." Said her father, observing the object with care.

She took the box and opened it. Inside it was a very peculiar fruit. She didn't know what type of fruit it was, it was round like an orange but a bit bigger, the fruit was light blue in color with some dark blue spirals around it and a green top.
