Chapter 122

Title: War Continues...

After temporarily putting Mihawk out of commission, the other Shichibukai looked at Whitebeard nervously and decided to not put too much effort into killing the Whitebeard Pirates. They don't want the old man to pay attention to them… as he did to Mihawk.

So as that happened, Sengoku atop the platform frowned at this. He knew that to win this war with minimal losses the Shichibukai must give it their all in the attack. 

'It doesn't matter if those trash pirates die.' Ponders Sengoku, referring to the Shichibukai. 'But the marine losses must be kept at a minimum, so the Pacifista must come too.'

He takes out a transponder snail and says. "Bring in the Pacifista."

"Yes, sir." Comes the voice from the other side.

….

As the battle starts going in Whitebeard's favor, with him and his allies pushing the marines and the admirals back beyond the wall. 

"Gurararararara…" Laughs Whitebeard as he looks at the terrified faces of the marines. He had walked over Oars' body to get here, he wasn't about to let that sacrifice go to waste. 

Crack!

A shockwave is created as Whitebeard punches the air, cracking it. But that is when Marco tries to fly towards Ace, at that split second, Akainu snarks and touches the ground as Aokiji creates a giant ice bird, shooting it towards Whitebeard who crushes it. 

But suddenly Whitebeard winces and looks below him… one of his feet had fallen into a small pool of lava, the foot was as good as gone now.  

Akainu looks at the old man and smiles. This is a fight, he used sneak attacks to go through Whitebeard, and taking off one of his feet will weaken the man considerably.

Marco too, as he was flying towards Ace, but he was punched by Garp, which threw him back on the battlefield.

"No one can go past here as long as I am alive." Says Garp, sitting down and looking at the people.

"We must end this quickly." Says Sengoku, his frown deepening. He knows what can and will happen if they wait too long, another Yonko entering the battlefield is absolutely dangerous. "Ace's execution will be moved forward."

...

As soon as Sengoku says that, a ship is seen flying in the sky.

POW!

It falls on the water and a loud yell comes from the ship. "ACE!!! I am here to SAVE YOU!!!"

Ace's eyes widen at this, his heart filled with terror. He knows best that this isn't a place for his brother. "LUFFY!?!?!? YOU IDIOT!!! Why did you even come here?"

"You are the idiot, I came here to save you!" Says Luffy, raising only one of his arms high. Franky hadn't had enough time to build him a new mechanical arm.

Ace is upset by this, but he can't help it as tears come out of his eyes, he is worried to death about Luffy. But he is so happy too, he can't help it, he hates it that everyone is here risking their lives for him.

Sengoku frowns at this. "We will need to end this quickly."

He looks as the executioners get ready to execute Ace. 

Garp sits in the Admiral's empty chairs as tears come out of his eyes. Knowing what is going to happen next. He can't help it, he saw Ace grow up like he was his own grandson.

Sengoku jumps off the platform and turns into a giant golden buddha as he sees Whitebeard is anxious at Ace's execution and he might go all out and cause heavy damage to the island, possibly even sink it.

Sengoku clashes his shockwave against Whitebeard's, he doesn't have the same overall destructive power as Whitebeard, but he can cancel out the earthquakes. This was something that he had done quite a bit back in the day in Roger's era.

But that is when as he is midair a giant blast of air hits him.

{COUP DE BURST}

BOOOM!!!

Out of Sunny's (Strawhat's ship) lion mouth, appears and blasts a beam at Sengoku, not hurting him. But still pushing him far away and out of Whitebeard's way.

CRACK!!!

The shockwave travels to Ace's execution stand and hits it.

BOOM!

It completely decimates it and Ace is hurt by the shockwave too, but that is still better than death as he starts falling down.

But strangely, an explosion happened, the force of which pushed Ace far up into the air, and he was caught by Marco. "We got him, yoi~"

"RETREAT!!!" Yells Whitebeard out loud, Luffy and his crew look at this strangely. They had come here for a fight… but they didn't get one.

"Garp…" Says Sengoku, looking at his old friend, who had a difficult look on his face, but he still didn't move as Ace escaped. He couldn't bring himself to. "This is the worst situation, Ace escaping is unacceptable."

He then looks at Whitebeard. "We can't play around anymore. AKAINU!"

He calls out to the Admiral, the man nods, and immediately the ground around himself and Whitebeard starts turning into magma, the terrain itself starts changing permanently. Whitebeard winces as he sinks up to his knees, not having a platform to stand on. So are some other casualties were taken into account, pirates and marines alike started sinking in the manga, though unlike Whitebeard they couldn't survive.

Whitebeard though still isn't panicking, he gives his sons a look once and that is enough to motivate him as he pulls back his arm.

But as he does so, he can't help but think of what could have happened differently.

-Whitebeard Flashback-

Whitebeard is back on his ship with a transponder snail in his hand as he looks at the little thing in front of him.

"Whitebeard, what if I told you that I could turn you into your prime, would you accept?" Asks Jaw from the other side.

The old man only snorts at this. "Bah! You stupid or something? Even I am not dumb enough to make a deal with you."

As Whitebeard says that carelessly, he did actually contemplate the risk and rewards of the offer. But the simple truth is that he knows that Jaw is an amazing father… but to anyone who doesn't concern his family, they are all trash in his eyes. Whitebeard could see that as clear as day. He didn't want to risk it in Jaw doing something like speeding up his age while he was careless, Jaw could easily take over his crew if it was out of commission.

'That sounds like something he would do.' Ponders Whitebeard's as he closes the transponder snail on Jaw. 

This was a natural reaction towards Jaw, the man wasn't known as someone who keeps to his word… or trustworthy.

-Flashback End-

'Maybe I should have taken his offer. I could have dodged the floor turning into magma.' Ponders Whitebeard, seeing that his body truly has not only gotten weaker with age but also less agile.

BOoOm!

The air cracked in front of him, as he tries to hold back the marines.

…

Itachi on the other hand, as he is killing some Whitebeard Pirate goons, he looks up and sees Ace being carried on Marco's talons. His eyes narrow at this. 

'No… the war must continue.' Contemplates Itachi as his eyes narrow at this.

….
