19 Chapter 17: Roberts vs Dorsey
In no time at all Dorsey and Roberts closed the distance to each other.
The moment they did so Roberts slashed at the man with his blade, but Dorsey easily evaded it.
Once he did so he moved to get behind Roberts and latched out with his claws, intending to deliver several slashes to his opponent's back.
But thanks to his observation haki Roberts managed to evade Dorsey's claw attack.
He then pivoted and slashed at the man again.
And though Dorsey dodged, Roberts managed to slash his left arm.
As the battle between the two raged Weisz moved over to his mother and freed her from her bindings. He then quickly escorted her out of the room.
Since this feeling he had told him Roberts would emerge from the battle victorious.
A wise decision on Weisz part, because he finally started listening to his instincts.
Ignoring the small cut on his arm Dorsey rushed at Roberts and started slashing at him with his claws.
Roberts in turn slashed at him with blade, while using his observation haki to dodge Dorsey's attacks.
But he wasn't successful all of the time.
Due to never having faced such an opponent with zoan-type powers Roberts ended up getting slashed several times with Dorsey's claws.
But he several attacks to Dorsey during their exchange of blows.
However compared to Dorsey's claw attacks Roberts noticed his attacks were quite shallow.
'Makes sense.' Roberts thought. 'Out of all devil fruit users zoan-type have the highest durability and physical parameters. If I don't start dealing more damage with my attacks Dorsey's zoan physique will allow him to slowly recover putting me in a bad situation. Can't let that happen now can I.'
Activating [Overdrive] Roberts dodged Dorsey's latest attack and appeared behind him. He then slashed at the man's tail, managing to sever it from his body.
"Ah, fuck!" Dorsey shouted in agony.
Blood spurting onto the room floor, while the severed part of his tail landed on it. Twitching and flopping.
Ignoring Dorsey's shouts of agony Roberts moved in closer and delivered several slashes to him. Backed with more power than his previous attacks.
Feeling the pain Dorsey yelled in angry.
He then spun and delivered a kick to Roberts gut, sending him flying into the room wall near his throne.
"Fucking little shit!" Dorsey roared.
He then charged at Roberts, shifting into his full zoan form as he did so.
Seeing his opponent charging at him Roberts quickly pulled himself out of the wall and dodged Dorsey latest attack.
Roberts then used [Siphon] and began draining Dorsey vitality.
But even as he did so he noticed Dorsey kept coming at him with the same level of ferocity.
Even so Roberts did not panic.
Instead he continued using [Siphon] and once he felt he could absorb no more energy switched back to using [Overdrive].
The moment he did so he went back on the attack instead of playing defense like he had been doing.
As his blade clashed with Dorsey's claws Roberts watched all of his opponents movements and tried to feel his intent using his observation haki.
Since right now although he is in the midst of battle Roberts is training.
Because his devil fruit doesn't allow him any direct combat abilities Roberts realized long ago his most valuable assets in battle will be his haki, his swordsmanship, and several other talents he is working on. The Rokushiki included in that, once he manages to learn the techniques in the future.
That is why he will use any opportunity he can to improve himself even a little bit.
Though that's not to say Roberts is going to ever neglect his devil fruit abilities. No, rather Roberts is going to train his devil fruit abilities just as hard as any of his other techniques and powers. Since he wants to one day awaken his devil fruit.
And Roberts has his feeling that when the day comes where he finally awakens his devil fruit he will reach a whole new level of power.
That is a day he cannot wait for.
But back to the main point.
Roberts is using this battle to train.
As he dodged another attack from Dorsey Roberts swung his blade upward.
Seeing this Dorsey leaned back.
As he did so Roberts lept forward and kicked him in the gut, sending him into the ground.
Once he did so he attacked Dorsey with an overhead slash. Landing the attack he created a massive gash along his opponents gut.
"Ah, shit!" Dorsey shouted.
Seeing that is hull zoan form was doing him more harm than good Dorsey transformed back into his Hyena-human hybrid form.
But to Roberts it didn't matter what form he took. He was going to end his life no matter what.
Gripping his blade in both hands Roberts launched himself forward and slashed at Dorsey more and more.
The Hyena Gang leader soon found himself on the defense.
'Fuck! How is this fucking brat kicking my ass! Me. Kamekeno "Laughing Mad" Dorsey!' Dorsey angrily thought.
Thanks to his observation haki Roberts could sense Dorsey's emotions. Due to this he smirked at him. Hoping to make him even further enraged and lead him to make even more mistake.
The results worked like a charm.
Seeing Roberts smirk Dorsey roared in anger. He then lunged at him, mouth first. Intending to take a bit of Roberts with his zoan jaws.
"Got you bitch." Roberts said.
He waited for Dorsey to close the distance, and then once he did dodged his attack at the last second.
After he did so he took his blade and swung with all his might at Dorsey neck.
In doing so Roberts managed to create a giant slash across Dorsey neck.
He actually wanted to severe his head from his body, but his strength is not at that level yet.
Though it will be soon enough.
As the blood fell in droves from the wound along Dorsey neck he felt fear for the first time since the battle began.
Dorsey then tried to make his escape.
But seeing this Roberts delivered several more slashes to his body using his blade.
Bringing Dorsey to the ground.
As the light faded from his eyes Dorsey's form reverted back to completely human.
Telling Roberts he was dead.
The battle over with he left the room to regroup with the others.
Having made sure Kamekeno "Laughing Mad" Dorsey had had his last laugh for the rest of his life.
