64 The Furious Big Mom

Brontes had a feeling he knew what was coming. Big Mom, with a furious look in her eyes, rode her thundercloud named Zeus high into the sky. She seemed ready to take on the thunderbolt directly.
"That looks impressive, but I bet it's not that strong!" She shouted.
Big Mom couldn't help but laugh out loud as she charged ahead. She held her sword, Napoleon, with both hands and lifted it high above her head.
"Break apart for me!" She yelled.
"Woosh!"
With a mighty swing of her sword, she sliced right through the thunderbolt. A bright light exploded from the cut, like a firework in the night sky.
Her attack was incredibly strong, splitting the thunderbolt in two, as if she was cutting through the sky itself. But it was just the outer layer of the thunderbolt that she damaged.
"Rumble!!"
The thunderbolt cracked open, just like an eggshell breaking apart. All the thunderclouds trapped inside burst out.
In a flash, lightning rained down like a storm, striking the ocean. Even Big Mom got hit, and for a moment, she lit up like a little blue spark.
"Boom!! ZliZli!!"
"Mama!" Cried Prometheus, who hadn't expected this to happen after slashing the thunderbolt.
Lightning rained down without mercy, hitting the ships below. The wooden ships caught fire as soon as they were struck.
"Boom! Bang!"
"The sails are on fire; the ship's burning up! Hurry, put out the flames!" Owen and his brothers quickly ordered their crew to fight the fire. But the lightning didn't stop; the sky was instantly filled with it.
"Owen-sama, this is bad, there's too much lightning!" One of the pirates yelled out, scared.
Suddenly, the thunderbolt transformed into a wild storm of thunder, and lightning struck the entire sea, turning it into a world of electric shocks.
"Take it in!"
Just when it looked like Big Mom's crew was doomed, a thundercloud in the sky burst open, and an angry face appeared.
It was Zeus, and he was huge. He started to absorb the lightning, trying to pull all the electricity into himself. The lightning bolts were drawn to him, converging into his massive form.
"Mama, I can't hold this much longer!"
Zeus's face turned red. Then he opened his mouth wide, facing the ocean below, and released a torrent of lightning into the water.
"Boom! Rumble!"
The lightning hit the sea, making it glow as if it were on fire. Countless fish were electrocuted, floating dead to the surface.
Thanks to Zeus redirecting the lightning, many of Big Mom's ships were saved from being hit directly.
Behind Zeus, Big Mom reappeared, not hurt at all by the lightning.
The power of the lightning was intense, but it didn't harm her. After all, she had Zeus under her feet, guiding the lightning away from her.
Big Mom was seething with rage as she glared at the sky, where the thunderclouds were still releasing bolts of lightning.
She was convinced she could almost see the contemptible face of Brontes in the storm.
"Hmph!"
With a huff of disdain, Big Mom leaped from Zeus back to her ship.
The lightning that had been so fierce was now quickly fading away, and the once-agitated thunderclouds settled into a calm state.
"Mama, we've lost thirty-two ships!" Mont-d'Or reported, gliding over on a flying book.
"Set course at full speed. That bastard is watching us from Totto Land!" Big Mom ordered as she clenched her teeth in anger.
"Right away, Mama!" Mont-d'Or flew off to relay the orders.

At the Totto Land dock, Brontes pulled back his hand, a smile playing on his lips.
He turned to Perospero and the others, saying: "Your mom truly is an Overlord. My attack only took out thirty-two of her ships. She managed to shield her main forces from my Lightning Welcome. I must admit, I'm impressed."
"What?!" The news of their substantial loss shocked Perospero and the rest.
They hadn't witnessed Brontes attack, but the thunderous sounds and the sudden brightening of the sky were clear indicators of the devastating power of Brontes attack just now.
...
After about fifteen minutes, Big Mom's pirate fleet was spotted along the coastline.
The Queen Mama Chanter, Big Mom's flagship, led the way, followed by the ships of her captains and crew.
One peculiar feature they all shared was the figureheads that could speak, all chattering amongst themselves as they drew closer.
"Mama is here!" Perospero and the others felt a surge of relief—they were saved.
"What are you so happy about? This joy won't last long." Brontes said, his smile unwavering.
...
"Do you really think you can take on Mama by yourself?" Perospero taunted with a sneer.
Brontes just smiled coldly in response. Suddenly, from Big Mom's ship, a white object soared through the air with a large figure standing atop it.
"You wretch! How dare you harm my children!" Big Mom bellowed as she charged at Brontes, leaping from Zeus.
"Bang!" Big Mom landed on the ground.
"Mama!" The sight of Big Mom gave Perospero and the others a glimmer of hope, and they struggled to their feet.
Brontes, with his eyes closed, couldn't see her face, but he had a sense of her presence.
He had seen her face countless times in the anime—Big Mom, often depicted as ugly and overweight. Now, he was curious about her younger appearance, so he removed his hat.
As Brontes opened his eyes, everyone around was taken aback.
"Such beautiful eyes." One of Big Mom's daughters said, surprised by the unexpected beauty before them.
Brontes's eyes, which had not been opened for a considerable time, were a sight to behold.
The last time they had seen the light was during an experiment when Dr. Vegapunk had infused him with Kaido's cells.
His eyes had remained shut for so long that when they were revealed, they were strikingly clear, giving him a unique and captivating appearance.
"Lightning bastard!" Big Mom's anger intensified at the sight of Brontes's unwavering smile.
"Charlotte Linlin, or should I say Big Mom, I've been quite looking forward to our meeting." Brontes said to her with a grin.
The Big Mom standing before Brontes was a stark contrast to the older version often depicted in the anime. This younger Big Mom was slimmer, yet her stature was still immense, rivaling that of Kaido in size.
"Well, well, well, Lightning Bastard, you've got guts, I'll give you that!" Big Mom retorted.
"How dare you invade my territory alone with such a puny force and harm my children! Do you think you're Garp or Sengoku?! Even they wouldn't have the nerve to pull such a stunt in my domain!" Big Mom shouted, her patience wearing thin for conversation.
"You're overestimating yourself. If it weren't for the fact that we're preoccupied with the rise of new pirates, you wouldn't dare to roam so freely in the New World." Brontes replied with a sneer.
"You! Insolent!" Big Mom was about to explode from anger, yet she found herself at a loss for words, as Brontes was merely stating the truth.
"Does it make you angry? If it weren't for Roger's final words before his execution, which sparked the Great Pirate Era, would you have the audacity to openly attack the nations allied with the World Government?" Brontes taunted her, his tone dripping with mockery.
"So what?! The Great Pirate Era has begun, and there's nothing you Marines can do to stop it. We will take over the New World, and then we'll bring down the Marines and the World Government, MaMaMa!!" Big Mom's laughter boomed, full of confidence and madness.
Brontes watched her laugh uncontrollably and shook his head, thinking to himself that there must be something off with her mind.
"Even though I despise that bastard Roger, I owe him thanks. Without him, I wouldn't have achieved this. Just look at Totto Land—beautiful and thriving. The people here live without fear of discrimination or pirate raids. They're all happy under my rule." Big Mom boasted, her tone softening slightly as she spoke of her accomplishments.
"A pirate ruling a country? That's a disaster waiting to happen for the common people. But if you really want to make your people happy, it's simple. The world would be truly joyful without pirates. They don't need your protection; they'd be happier without you." Brontes replied with a dismissive chuckle.
"You have a sharp tongue!" Big Mom snapped, her anger flaring up once more.
"As a Marine dedicated to upload justice, how could I ever buy into your deluded sense of happiness? Do you have any idea how many innocent lives you and your children have taken for your own selfish gains?" Brontes asked.
"Mommy!" Perospero's voice suddenly cut through the tension.
Big Mom turned to see Perospero and her other children, their heads bowed, their faces etched with embarrassment.
"We're sorry for bringing shame upon you."
