Chapter 109: The Way Of The Sword II

...........

"Different," Hades who was standing right next to Rebecca remarked in a very fleeting voice, "Name?"

A chill ran down the Toy's wooden spine as it eyed Hades, a silverly mask with no eyes, yet he felt his sight on him clearly, just like before, "Thunder Soldier." The Toy responded.

Thunder Soldier wasn't that afraid for himself. No, he was afraid for Rebecca, something Hades could clearly see, thus why his hand found itself gently resting on her shoulder.

"Different than the other Toys?" Hades asked.

"Yes." Thunder Soldier answered honestly because he saw no point in lying. Whoever Hades was must already know something, but he just wanted to make sure.

"Write. I will find you later." Hades left a blank paper on Rebecca's shoulder and started making his way to the stage, ignoring her yelling.

"H-hey!! What! Who do you thin... NMEMm!!!" Luckily, her yells were halted by Thunder Soldier blocking her mouth with his tiny hands.

"W-what? What was that?" She asked after finally being let go.

"I... I don't know, but you have to give up, no matter what." Thunder Soldier gravely said as he held the paper in his hand.

"But... But, there is finally a way! A Devil Fruit! Do you expect me to just let it go!!?" Getting the Devil Fruit seems to be very important to her, evident by the desperate tone of her voice.

"I'm not asking you to let it go... Because you never had a chance." Thunder Soldier's expression turned into a deep frown as he said it how it is. He saw something she can not, so he was certain...

"But you don't have to take my word for it. Let's see what he can do right now!" The Toy turned around, making his way back to the hall with a heavy expression, still hesitating on what to do.

What Hades wanted from him was very obvious, to write down everything he knows, likely about the Toys among other things.

Most visitors assume the Toys to be nothing but a miracle of creation or something of the such, but Hades obviously saw something different.

Rebecca, in the end, was just a little girl with little experience outside of combat, but she still couldn't see what was so special about Hades aside from his speed and stealthy nature.

Well, that should've been more than enough to make her lose hope, but her desire for the Devil Fruit might've blinded her, and Thunder Solider hoped that seeing Hades in action would change her mind.

Hades was the last contestant to join the stage, a stage large enough to hold about a hundred contestants, and even leaving plenty of space empty.

The contestants understandably kept their distance from each other, except for one, green boy who stood right by Hades, "Hoi! Good luck! But if you need help, just ask!" He received no response.

[The Battle Of Block Three Is About TO Start! So May The Strongest Be Victorious!! 3... 2... 1... Go!!!] The Commentator officially declared the start of the battle.

Hades rested his hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to unsheathe it as he eyed the chaos all around.

There was no mercy as everyone was out for blood, including Hades' blood.

"Hm?" Hades found himself confused as he eyed a spinning ball flying towards him, one of the contestants with some kind of Devil Fruit, he was sure.

What confused him is why? He remained cautious, but nothing changed. The ball still continued spinning towards him with an impressive speed.

So Hades gently unsheathed his blade, allowing the gorgeous emerald Katana to breathe some fresh blood simply by poking it towards the ball person and allowing him to nail himself on the blade.

"So bad..." Hades found himself forced to state. He really didn't expect the contestant to be just stupid.

"W... What happened??" While Hades had his common sense deleted by his own power, someone else with a little bit of common sense couldn't help but say... It was Rebecca who was watching the match.

"He... He unsheathed the blade a split second before the enemy reached him." Thunder Soldier saw it, or he sensed it. He was indeed quite the special Toy.

In the mind of the ball person, Hades wasn't reacting at all. He was just standing there frozen, so he assumed it all to be well and done, just crush him then head to another.

But before he knew it, the scenery around him changed as before him was a blade, pointed directly at his forehead. In fact, it was already touching his forehead.

At one point, there was nothing, then there was something, just not a speed he could react to, so he could only allow the pokey thing to go quite deep inside of him... The Blade, of course.

Hades retracted his sword back into its sheath, leaving behind a dry body, seemingly sucked of all of its blood, like a mummy.

Most kept their distance from him, others started making their way toward him. Two individuals to be specific, a short weird looking old man and a large overweight man. They seemed mad.

"I... Good luck, they're representatives of the Donquixote Pirates, also fighting for the Devil Fruit, so sorry..." Green boy warned before stepping back just slightly.

The Donquixote Pirates of course would also want the Devil Fruit, so they naturally sent some of their own for it. However, they couldn't send their best, the Elite Officers. Capone Bege wouldn't allow it.

"You've made a big big mistake." The old man said with a frown.

Hades unsheathed his blade again, this time before they made any move. He did so to coat the blade with his Armament Haki, turning the emerald blade inky.

[Armament Haki (Hardening. Imbuement. Survival's Instinct): 2130/∞]

It's the technique of imbuing one's Haki into the sword, increasing its power and sharpness among other things.

"Use a sword," Hades strangely said much to the two and pretty much everyone's dismay.

[Ohhhhh!! Is this a swordsmanship duel I hear!!?? The mysterious Hades, will he show us the depths of his swordsmanship!?] The Commentator was certainly doing a good job railing the spectators up.

[Standing before him is none other than the famous Lao G and Machvise!! What will they do!? Oh!!! They're ignoring him! They're refusing the duel!! Wait what...] The Commentator had to halt his words due to shock.

Things happened too quickly. Lao G lunged toward Hades directly while Machvise jumped to the sky with his shield, either manipulating gravity or becoming heavier as he started quickly falling toward Hades like a comet.

But that wasn't what shocked the commentator. No, it was Green boy. He was somehow suddenly behind Hades, with a knife already lodged in Hades' back.

"Gwahahhahehehe, you shouldn't have made an enemy out of us, the Donquixote Pirates!!" Indeed, Green boy is actually a pirate under Doflamingo, also fighting for the Devil Fruit.

However, he doesn't seem to be well known, thus he stayed under the radar. Perhaps that was the plan from the start?

Just as Green boy wanted to jump back, to avoid the brutal attacks that were bound to reach Hades from his fellow pirates, a burst of flames erupted from the blade and all around Hades.

"Wha!?"

"It's unfortunate, truly," Hades murmured as he raised his blade high and extended his hand to the side amidst the gorgeous emerald flames.

A very peculiar scenery took place, one of the emerald blade going through Machvise's shield like a knife through butter, and naturally, it went through his body directly after.

The scenery wouldn't be completed without the cries of green boy as he stumbled backward, crying out from the sheer pain the green flames brought him.

Even Lao G had to cry out as his punch was caught by Hades's other hand, and it was crushed. Under those white gloves must've been a hardened hand, not something he can contend with.
