Chapter 112: Hades, God Of Death II

...........

But Yovan sought to test more than what he let on, and killing her was still a possibility depending on if his theory turns out to be true or false.

Viola was the second princess of Dressrosa, second only to her late sister, Scarlett.

On the night of Doflamingo's coup, Viola was captured by one of Doflamingo's assassins and opened the gates to the royal palace, allowing the Donquixote Pirates to invade.

Because Doflamingo found Viola's power to be useful, he agreed to spare the king, her father's life on the condition that she joined the Donquixote Pirates.

If becoming basically a slave wasn't bad enough, Viola was grief-stricken when Diamante informed her that he killed Scarlett... She couldn't do anything about it but bury that burning hatred deep in her heart.

So she was understandably desperate to the point that she gave up her freedom for the second time just for the sake of her family.

Then again, Yovan didn't leave her much choice. His intent was to kill her due to the danger of her powers, and that intent wasn't fully gone.

"What did you see?" Yovan asked the slowly awakening Viola.

Viola got out of her stupor and looked around with confusion, finding herself in the middle of the ocean, floating on a boat of feathers.

"Where ar..." Whatever she wanted to say was halted by a surge of pain going through her brain as her memories slowly got back to her, "I... I saw the massacre."

"Nothing else noteworthy?" Yovan further questioned with a narrow eye.

"N-no?" Viola responded, seeming perplexed as she retold all she saw, her tone reeking of shock.

"Hmm," Yovan smiled, trusting his Observation Haki... She wasn't lying. He wanted to know if she saw Limitless as it showed itself in the Fall Massacre amidst the evolution of his Devil Fruit.

However, despite seeing some of his memories, she wasn't able to see Limitless at all. Yovan kept that in mind as he crouched, lightly stroking her head to bring her out of her daze.

"You know what I am here for. You know who I am, to a certain extent. And soon you will know of my other identity... If even a word of what you saw slips out, Dressrosa will fall." He warned, looking directly into her eyes to make sure she understand the seriousness of the matter.

"As long as you fulfill your promise, I will do as you wish and I will follow you until you no longer need me." Viola made a promise herself, his memories assuring her a little bit.

"Lovely," Yovan chuckled as he brought her closer to him, holding her by the waist. His vast dark wings spurted from his back, fluttering along with the motion of the ocean before flying into the sky.

Perhaps she realized it. Perhaps she realized why he brought her to the middle of the sea... To kill her, to let those feathers scatter and allow her to drown, but he didn't.

Yovan is after all very much a pacifist in contrast to Hades, who is very much worthy of the title, God Of Death. Many wonder who he is, and why they never heard of him before.

Well, soon they're gonna find out, just like they found out the very next day that even a God Of Death could find it in himself to spare a life.

"Are you sure?" Hades asked.

"A true swordsman never turns down a challenge in the way of the sword." Rebecca nodded with determination.

The two were facing each other on the stage, the spectators watching with bated breaths. This was the second round of the battle for the Devil Fruit.

The fighters must battle each other, and only victory matter. The winner of all the battles will then reach the final to fight the Don himself for the Devil Fruit.

Hades nodded and started walking closer to Rebecca, slowly unsheathing his blade.

"May the best swordsman win," Rebecca said, the fire in her eyes being the only thing that got her to stand on the stage unafraid of death, despite Thunder Soldier's warnings.

"No..." Hades shook his head, "May the strongest win." The way of the sword is something Yovan got into only recently after acquiring the Seven-Star Sword, so he is still very much inexperienced despite the mastery the sword granted him.

That's, in fact, the reason why the battle was so peculiar in the audience's eyes. Even Rebecca was confused as to why Hades was barely attacking her, or why his swings were so soft.

Then she realized it, he was trying to mimic her way of the sword, and he was easily doing so.

Rebecca uses a style of swordsmanship known as the Backwater Sword Dance, which is completely defensive in nature.

It emphasizes on using her sword to exploit her opponents' strength and momentum rather than using personal brute force to defeat them.

She was trying to bait Hades into using his best to redirect that momentum against him.

However, he was barely attacking her, and even when he does, he barely uses any force, so redirecting that insignificant force against him was useless.

And any attack of hers was simply deflected. He wasn't even using much swordsmanship, he was just stronger, way stronger than her... Until he was using swordsmanship, her way of the sword against her.

So the spectators found themselves with the comical scene of Rebecca trying to attack only to end up falling on her knees or butt one way or another, all due to Hades simply moving his blade in such a strange way.

"What? What are you doing? Are you making fun of me?!" Rebecca stood up yet again, her eyes seeming very teary, "After I accepted your duel?" Followed by a very impulsive and inexperienced swing.

It was easily redirected yet again as she fell on her butt, seeming to be on the verge of crying much to Hades' confusion, "I'm learning from you?"

"Huh?"

A sigh was the only thing Hades could do as he crouched to her level, "How old are you? You are a child, aren't you?"

"Huh?"

"So yes," Hades nodded as if he saw through her, "You're very talented, and I did learn a lot from you, so keep it up... Perhaps you can challenge me when you're ready."

Just when she started getting her composure back, relieved at his words, Hades kicked her away, literally, "Now get out of here." She was kicked off the stage, thus she was disqualified.

Hades left the stage directly after, picking himself a corner and just waiting for the Commentator to announce his turn... That kinda took a while.

[As a result of all the other Contestants giving up, Hades, the God of Death has automatically advanced to the Final round!!!!! Yes, ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for the Don, Capone Bege to face Hades!!!!]

Well, that wasn't much of a surprise considering Hades killed everyone he faced so far besides Rebecca. That, and the competition was very sudden, so those strong enough didn't have time to arrive and participate.

"Hades, huh? Never heard of you," Bege remarked as he fell onto the stage, having been watching from a private pavilion for a while, "That's not normal."

Being one of the Emperors of the Underworld certainly left a mark on Bege as truly embodied his Don persona, adorned in many pieces of jewelry along with a classic underworld outfit, complemented with a nice grey hat.

"You have not," Hades also seemed very confident of that, "I am Hades, the God of Death."

"Did you get that title just today from the Colosseum, or were you known by it?" Bege scrutinized with narrow eyes as he took a smoke with his usual cigar.

"Neither," Hades responded as he unsheathed his blade, "I, Hades, God of Death, from the Pantheon; chose my own title."

And then there was silence, unsettling silence. The word 'Pantheon' is taboo, as simple as that.

There have been people who claimed to be part of the Pantheon. There are no longer.

Yet before them was someone claiming to be part of the Pantheon, and they somewhat believed him, "Are you? What would one of the 'Gods' be doing here?" Bege questioned as he took a step back.

"I am here to kill you." The once emerald blade turned inky as Hades focused the entirety of his Armament Haki into the sword, so much so that it made the air around it shake.
