Chapter 142: Age Of Chaos IV

...........

That night, Viola danced before the Strangers for the first time as they partied, laughed... Well, Reiju cried. Such a simple which uttered without much thought was taken so seriously... They're truly the strangest.

The Strangers naturally stopped the ship before partying all night, just messing about and doing whatever crazy stupid idea their mind cooked up.

Throughout the night, Katakuri could only watch from afar with his face spasming, speechless. It was as if Yovan forgot about him, and his clear instruction to follow.

The man was out of his mind, just like the rest of the Strangers. His corrupted unstable mind seemed to have infected the others, even Antarisa who is slowly but surely getting out of her lazy habits.

'They're a crew, a good crew, just a different kind of crew,' Robin concluded with a frown. She never had a good perception of Yovan, not after his dealing with Crocodile.

And his involvement with the Pantheon was even more of a headache considering their chaotic mysterious nature. She's wary of them mostly because she doesn't know their goal.

However, if she was certain of something, it's that the Pantheon is in no way shape or form involved with the World Government, and the latter is her true enemy.

Most of the Strangers ended up too drunk or too tired, so they collapsed to sleep right on the deck of the Ship, only a few remained conscious.

Yovan can't really get drunk, get tired? Maybe after several days of fighting Kaido, so he rested by the edge of the ship, leaning on Antarisa's soft fur.

"What's your goal? Do you want to be the Pirate King?" Robin sat by him before asking, gaining more courage to approach the monster.

"My goal, huh?" Yovan opened his eye to look at the dark starry sky, "No, I do not want to be the Pirate King."

"Why not?" She asked.

"It's not what I want," Yovan murmured as he blinked alongside the blinking of the stars, seemingly talking to him, "I want to survive."

"Hm? Survive?" Robin was understandably confused, "But you are surviving, no? You're alive. You're stron... Too strong. Is there something threatening your survival?"

"Many many things threaten my survival," Yovan murmured in reminiscence, "I went through a lot, shaping me to be the person I am today... I don't just want to survive, I want to die yet survive."

Such a paradox were his words. At first, his goal was just to survive the fall of misfortune, but he went through so much suffering and darkness that his mind became twisted.

No, rather his mind grew, and his will evolved alongside him, and his will firmly believes in the fire of survival within him... That his survival is absolute.

[Absolute Survivor: 45%]

Limitless seems to agree for he wants nothing! Nothing in the entirety of existence to ever threaten his chances of survival, his life.

"I grew tired of there being even a risk of not surviving, so my purpose is to change that... I see them, I see the means to achieve it, but I may need fortune to be on my side, and it never is."

His words, Robin didn't understand, not as much as she wished to. How can someone survive through death? To truly die yet survive? She just didn't understand.

But if there was something she understood clearly, it was the extent of the Stranger's ambitions, the likes of which she had never seen before.

"What is your goal?" It was Yovan's turn to question her.

"I..." She didn't want to say it considering what her goal entails, but if there was someone who would understand, it'd be Yovan considering he's Apollo, the God that killed a World Noble.

"Say it in as fewer of words as possible," Yovan advised, fully knowing that Katakuri might be listening somehow.

"History." She responded and closely watched his expression.

"History, huh?" Yovan murmured with a yawn, "I assume you already know that I know..."

"I do," Well, she wasn't certain, but his words confirmed her speculation. Among his crew are two individuals from the Cipher Pol, individuals that surely know about her and why she's called the Devil Child.

So Yovan naturally knows that she is potentially the only person in the world known to have the ability to read and decipher Poneglyphs, a skill which is considered forbidden and threatening to the World Government.

And the Poneglyphs is something Yovan has been pursuing for a while under the nose of many... In fact, he has already gathered... Too much to the point that if the World Government knows, his bounty would certainly rise a few billion more.

He knows them to be large, mysterious steles with historical knowledge inscribed on them in an ancient script, scattered among the islands across the world.

Attempting to research the Poneglyphs and the ancient script written on them is deemed a crime by the World Government, and they can not destroy the Poneglyphs because they're indestructible.

"I have a proposition for you, a task to maintain and safeguard history except for one thing," Yovan halted his words, "But let's leave that for later."

Robin frowned, wanting to hear more, especially his words concerning history. She, in fact, already wanted to refuse for twisting history is something she will never do, no matter how small it is.

It took a while, but eventually, the Strangers followed, reaching the central Island of Totto Land, Whole Cake Island.

The island is quite large, with enormous cake buildings constructed within, making it look even more immense.

Atop the largest central building which is shaped like a Cake, there are massive poles shaped like candles, making it look like a birthday cake.

That and most buildings appear to be covered in what looks like icing, among other sweets. The place was a work of art, so Yovan made Katakuri wait again as he started painting.

Viola's eyes couldn't help but quiver as the painting started taking shape... Only half of it was painted, the other half was left blank, quite the familiar scenery, reminding her of his painting, Sunflowers of Death.

The Strangers as usual watched his hand working art, not keeping Katakuri waiting for long lest he loses his mind.

"Please follow... Make sure to follow," Katakuri stressed as the Strangers one by one jumped off their ship onto the Island's dock, even Antarisa followed.

"Sure," Yovan nodded before turning his attention to Laffitte, "I'm curious though, are these buildings edible? Mind giving it a try?"

"For science, sure," Laffitte didn't even question him, and he would've certainly done it, Katakuri knows because he had to stop him, seeing a future where Laffitte brought down a building for science.

"Just follow, I won't repeat myself," Katakuri stressed again.

"Why not?" Kaku asked, "Aren't you supposed to treat your guests well?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"No."

"Hey! Cap! Why is this dude's dialogue option so limited? Is he okay? He must need a dissection, no?" Laffitte pointed out.

"I wonder as well, I heard that sweets mess up teeth, but they must mess up brains as well," Yovan speculated.

"Come to think of it, we used to use sweets as a tort... bribing method. It works." Kalifa innocently explained.

And the Strangers didn't stop talking, not for one bit, yet Katakuri ignored them as long as they follow. He was speechless at their antics, but never once had he lost his calm.

If it wasn't already clear, it became clear now. He's extremely dangerous as no amount of taunting seems to be affecting him, meaning his future sight can never be blocked.

It was even doubtful that Laffitte's songs would be able to block his observation Haki as they can be ignored depending on the potency of one's Haki.

It took a while, way longer than Katakuri would've liked as the group of unstable fellows kept stopping and making trouble, but eventually, they reached Big Mom's castle.

Her castle is at the very center of the capital of Whole Cake Island, a city called Sweet city. The city was colossal, yet it was dwarfed by the castle, Whole Cake Chateau.

It's a three-layered massive castle, and the largest cake building found in the entire Archipelago with a total of ten floors.

Katakuri led them to the third floor, specifically to a Courtyard. It had large windows with bright curtains, decorated to appear like an outdoor garden, with a cloudy wallpaper, plants, rose arches, and gazebos.

It also had a large table where for the Emperor to dine with her guests, and she was there, waiting for them, seated on a big seat because Big Mom is, "Holy fuck, you're big." Yovan remarked out loud.
