40 Training Montage

One day later.....

"Alright, Zoro. Let's train!!!" Luffy shouted excitedly. Zoro nodded sternly. They still haven't left Orange Town and were currently training in a forest nearby.

"C'mon, Zoro! Run with me! We're gonna build up your natural speed so that you can use Soru!" Luffy encouraged and started running. Zoro nodded and started running beside him.

The two ran around Organs Island. Luffy does not know how to slow down, and Zoro was lucky he doesn't know how to.

He doesn't want to be babysitted by Luffy at all and Luffy knows it too. So they ran a lot of times around the island. Zoro became truly exhausted when he finished running the island 40 times.

He saw that Luffy didn't even break a sweat and he once again respected his strength even more because of it.

Luffy helped Zoro get up. "Take a breather, Zoro. We'll continue the next part of the training. " Luffy advised, Zoro nodded and sat against a tree to control his breath.

Luffy looked at Nami who was busy reading a book about the weather of the Grand Line. It was Luffy's book. He lent out the book to her, for a small price of course.

He approached her silently and sat in front of her. Nami didn't notice him since she was completely hooked to reading the book.

She didn't know the Grand Line was that wacky and scary. She only heard about some parts of it from rumors here and there.

The weather is unusual on the Grand Line to say the least, the standard rules of meteorology don't apply.

The ocean currents and weather patterns are extremely volatile and inconsistent, they can drastically change in an instant; this includes water spouts, storms, blizzards, heat waves, thick fog, and many other such things.

There are also cyclones that seem to appear quickly and suddenly, they are remarked as being impossible to predict.

The reason for these erratic currents and weather is because the islands on the Grand Line each have a distinct climate year round, most often falling into one of four basic categories: Summer, Spring, Autumn, and Winter.

These types of islands each have four seasons of their own, ranging from Summer Island summer to Winter Island winter, giving the Grand Line a total of 16 different seasons.

Notably, the first leg of the Grand Line is especially chaotic. There are seven different paths that one can choose from to sail through.

The clashing weather and magnetism of those first seven islands cause insane sailing conditions that are beyond nearly anything else in the first half of the Grand Line.

The only areas where the weather and currents are stabilized and predictable are the Islands and their nearby surrounding waters.

This doesn't mean the weather will be calm and sunny, it just means that the climate won't suddenly swift as it does on the open ocean.

In order to navigate the Grand Line, one needs a special type of compass known as a Log Pose.

The Log Pose works by locking on to the magnetism produced by one island and points toward that island.

After reaching said island and staying there for a certain amount of time, the Log Pose will reset and start locking on to the magnetism of the next island.

The time it takes for a Log Pose to set is different on each island; it may take a few hours, it may take a few days, or even a full year.

Nami was in disbelief as she continued reading the book. She thought the East Blue weather was easy to predict.

This book made it sound like she needed an ability to see the future to be able to sail through the weather.

'She looks kinda cute with that serious face on. God damnit Luffy, you shouldn't have read through every single novel of the Icha Icha series. Look what it's done to you, now you're perving on women.' Luffy grumbled in his mind.

Nami noticed him staring at her. "What do you need, Luffy? You told me I can borrow this book for a day." Nami asked him. Luffy grinned at her.

"Let's train, Nami!" Luffy suggested happily. Nami freaked out.

"Wh-what?! T-train?! I-I'm busy Luffy, sorry." Nami giggled nervously. Luffy raised an amused eyebrow at her.

"What? Don't like sweating or something?" Luffy asked her. Nami shook her head immediately.

"It's not that! It's this book, it's so interesting and so unbelievable." Nami muttered.

"Well, that's the Grand Line for ya! Shishishishishi!! But I'm serious, Nami. Let's train for a while, get yourself in the zone! I can't have weak crew members!" Luffy suggested. Nami sighed.

" Temporary crew member. Don't forget that. But fine, since you're my temporary captain. I'll have to listen to you for now. " Nami put down the book and walked towards him.

" What do you want to do? " She asked. Luffy grinned.

" We're gonna spar! " Luffy replied, surprising her.

" Do you have a weapon, Nami? " Luffy asked quickly. Nami nodded and took out a small blue colored stick. The stick then expanded in length, making it a metal bo staff.

She spun it around skillfully and smiled at Luffy who grinned back. "Alright then, let's spar!"

.

.

"Ugh...." Nami groaned as she laid on the ground. She had lost five times in ten minutes. Luffy was fast with his punches.

Nami wasn't exactly experienced in fighting people upfront with her staff, Luffy knew that just by looking at her clumsy footwork. Her swings have power in it, but she needs a lot of work in that too if she wants to be able to defeat someone quickly with it.

Luffy stretched out his hand while flashing her his signature grin. Nami giggled a little as she grabbed his hand and was pulled up by him.

"You really suck at fighting Nami." Luffy commented bluntly, shocking her. Zoro wanted to laugh out loud but he quickly slapped herself before she did.

"Yeah, your footwork is trash. Your swings are...meh. All and all, you're really weak, Nami." Luffy added. Nami growled and clenched her bo staff tightly.

"I'll show you, you idiot captain!!" Nami shouted and started swinging wildly at him. Luffy laughed as he dodged them all easily.

"Shishishishishi!!!! That's the spirit Nami!!"

.

.

.

Luffy, Zoro and Nami have been staying in Organs Island for one week and a half. They have been training hard.

Zoro was getting closer and closer to be able to utilize Soru. He just needs a few more days of hardcore training to succeed.

Nami understood how to traverse the Grand Line properly now. She also was getting better and better every day at using her bo staff to fight.

Luffy would use teasing tactics on her to get her riled up so that she can prove to him that she wasn't just some weak little thief that only knows how to steal and count money.

Luffy has also learned a lot from her too. His navigation skills have improved dramatically from her teachings.

Nami was embarrassed, as he would always compliment her when she finished explaining some complicated navigational knowledge to him.

He would get a good laugh as he saw her face get redder and redder as he kept complimenting her endlessly.

And now, they were sitting in Luffy's dinghy together, getting ready to sail to their new destination.

"Alright captain, where to next?" Nami asked as she held up a compass. Luffy grinned at her.

"Set sail to the Gecko Islands, dear navigator. We're gonna find our sniper there..... "

To be continued.....

(Nothing happened. Promise.)
