Chapter 3 Embassa City

Surprisingly it only took me a little over two days after trekking through the jungle to find a town and luckily for me, it turned out to be on a port. Large Galleon ships line the docks with people ushering in and out products, unsurprisingly I catch my first glimpse of the series' main antagonists, multiple armed men dressed in white and blue guards police the docks and town it seems.

'Good thing I don't plan on becoming a pirate or at least wanted for a long while, now let's go find a damn bed and not move for a day or so' I think to myself in excitement before running towards a building that looks suspiciously like an inn.

Getting close enough that I can see the sign that reads 'Embassa City Tavern and Inn'. 'Huh never heard of Embassa city but it definitely looks nice here, has a real ancient Greece feel to it' I think to myself observing that clay-designed square building and the cobblestone roads.

Quickly heading into the Tavern I notice that it seems barren, not too surprising considering it's just after Dawn. Heading towards the bar and taking a seat waiting for the owner to come, it's only about a minute until an older Brown haired man came. Noticing the Odd look he was giving my face and clothes, I realized I probably should've gone clothes shopping before coming here.

"HI there stranger, names Kai, what can I get for you?" the man asks, handing over a menu.

"Thanks man, my names Kal it's nice to meet ya. I'll have a steak, bottle of whiskey and a pack of smokes if you have em" I ask him in hope, spending 2 weeks in the woods makes a man miss the luxuries of society. Kai gives me an odd look before calculating the price.

'I read somewhere once that 100 berries are about equal to a dollar, considering that the price should be in the ballpark of 3,000 berries' I calculate trying to get a hang of this new currency.

"Ok kid, that'll be 2,800 berries. Listen, I'm not your parent or anything but aren't you a little young to smoke and drink?"Kai asked in concern looking over my young face, well minus my new scar. I guess the guy has a point based on my body and face. I'd guess I'm around 15-16 years old,

"I appreciate the concern Old man but I fight for a living, I could die tomorrow haha!" I reply with a laugh before he slides me a bottle of booze and a pack of smokes.

"What do ya do then? Bounty hunter or pirate?" He asked me, eyeing the sword I placed against his counter worryingly, I flashed him a smile before lighting a smoke.

"No worries I'm neither, I've been on a training journey for a while. I was actually coming here in hopes of finding a bounty office to take contracts" I answered him honestly before pouring the whiskey into the glass he just sat down. I notice him sigh mildly in relief knowing I'm not a pirate.

'Poor guy, sometimes you'd rather it be a pirate you're dealing with compared to a marine, most of those bastards are downright fanatics'

"Well you're in luck then Kal, next to the Marine base at the docks you'll find the bounty reception desk, it costs a pretty penny to get licensed but I heard if you hunt without a license you can be arrested." He warned me honestly before a ding was heard from the kitchen, he turned around to grab it and slid it over to me.

"Thanks for the info, I'll probably head over there in the afternoon, got to get some supplies first. Anywhere around here, I can get a good set of guns and clothes?"

"Best place for you to go is Buckys, he sells good combat gear or so I've heard, you gonna need a room while you're here," Kai asked with a salesman's smile.

"Thanks, yeah I'd like to rent a room for around a week I'd say, what's that gonna run me?"

"Ah don't worry too much about the price, I'll give you a deal for 12,000 for the week with breakfast included" Kai barters with a smirk.

'Phew it's a damn good thing I got so much cash from those draws, I would have been screwed' I finished the thought with a sigh of relief handing over the money to Kai as he handed me a key back. My room is on the second floor, I don't really have anything to leave here yet so I decided to head over to 'Buckys'.

Luckily it was only about a three-minute walk from the Inn, I'm honestly more excited to get an actual shirt than anything. Having a boar cloak looks kind of badass but it's not as comfortable as you'd expect.

Heading into the shop while throwing a wave to the cashier I head straight towards the clothing section, deciding to grab a small stack of plain white shirts and a pair of black pants. I turn over to the jacket section, finding a nice and sturdy red cloak with a few hidden pockets perfect for concealing a firearm or dagger. I decide to head to the counter where the firearms are placed behind, looking over the decent selection its doesn't take long to come to a decision,

"Hey I'd like 2 of those double barrel pistols, 10 pounds of gunpowder as well as ammo, two holsters and that'll be all" I order placing everything I grabbed on the counter as the cashier gives me a nod before grabbing my order and ringing it up.

"That'll be 55,500 berries sir, there is also a changing room right there," She said as she gave me a once over and pointed towards a door to the right, I handed her the money before heading into the room to get together.

Tossing the hide cloak and my worn-out pants into a near trash bin, I begin getting dressed strapping both hoster over each hip and putting on the cloak concealing them, looking over myself in a nearby mirror I can't help but be satisfied at not looking like a caveman anymore.

Depositing everything else into my inventory I wave the cashier goodbye before heading to the bounty office.

Just like Kai said the bounty office was located right next to the Navy base, looking up at the sign it read 'DEUL KINGDOM BOUNTY OFFICE'. 'Huh? Deul kingdom sounds slightly familiar, pretty sure nothing major ever happens here, still, it's nice to finally know what island I'm on. Really should buy an actual map of the North blue next chance I get' I intone before walking into the building and coming face to face with a guy that looks like he came from a Clint Eastwood movie. He turns up his cowboy hat with a single finger, particularly eyeing my sword and the scar over my left eye.

"Howdy there partner, you're a new face around here. What can old James do for ye?" The aged cowboy asked with a smile seeing nothing wrong with this situation. 'Oh god, am I going to have to deal with this cowboy every time I want to turn in a bounty?' I thought with a sigh before returning his greeting.

"Hi there, names Kal I was looking to get a Bounty license, heard I could do that here"

"Rightyo, I just need to ask you a couple questions to build your profile and make sure you're not already a wanted man." James informed me before pulling out a sheet and a pen to jot down the information.

'Name, island of birth, relatives, basic family history, age and preferred code name" He listed off quickly.

"Fate Kal, I was born on Swallow island, I think. I'm an Orphan and grew up on the island, I'm 16 and I guess Silver?" I finish bullshiting my way through it knowing there's not a single spec of my existence anywhere. He looks at me suspiciously for a second before brushing it off.

"Just a reminder for ye, we are required by the Navy to do a background check on all hunters, if your story comes back false we are required to revoke your license and issue a minimum bounty of 100,000 on ye. If that's all fine wait here and I'll be back with your license" He asked me and waited to see if I'd change my mind, giving him a nod he shrugs his shoulders and heads to the back.

Minutes later he returns with a metal card with only the name Silver on it.

"Here ye go kid that'll be 50,000 Berries, now make sure you don't lose it now, it'll cost ye a perty penny to replace it" He warns me with a smirk as he hands me the card, as soon as he hands me the card I can't help but flinch at the massive flood of notifications.

"You alrighty there pal, you've been standing still shaking in place for like five minutes. I've tried to get yer attention a few times already?" James asked in concern, noticing me frozen after receiving my card.

"Yeah just excited, haha" I chuckle, hopefully playing it off, don't want people to think you're too crazy.

"Anybody nearby I can try out for a test run?" I ask him hopefully, who knows? There may be a navy base here but a lot of times things get 'overlooked'.

"Hmmm, now that ye mention it there's one new character that's been seen popping his head up around town, or so I heard. Here it is, give it a look" James says before pulling out an Iconic piece of brown paper.

"Just a fair warning for ya, on bounties less than 20 million a penalty of 10% is taken away on marks brought in dead" He warns me before checking over a few papers.

"Ok kid, seeing as how it's your first hunt I'll give you the information on the mark for free, he served at the Deul palace for ten years as a knight guard, apparently he stole something he shouldn't have and fled the capital city, not many around here care for Royals so it's the perfect place for him to lay low. Word has it he stays somewhere in the jungle and appears from the east into town every couple of days."

"Damn, you have that much info on him and nobody felt like taking a walk to get 250 thousand?" I asked him in suspicion.

"Like I said kid, most people here dislike Royals, hell some even respect him for it. You still want it?"

"Yeah I'll take it, thanks James I'll see ya later" I offer him a goodbye before heading towards the door.

"Hey be careful now kid, not many new bounty hunters around lately," He said with a smile before turning his hat back over his eyes.

'Well that wasn't nearly as annoying as I expected, not even a single 'YEE-HAA' was said throughout the entire conversation' I thought to myself before heading back towards the inn and my newly acquired bed.

'Oh yeah I received a new skill, might as well check it out'

(PASSIVE)BOUNTY VISION-WITHIN THE RANGE OF 100 METERS A PERSON'S BOUNTY WILL APPEAR DIRECTLY ABOVE THEIR HEAD

'Well, that might be the best ability I could've asked for, not even just for hunting. It could be used in a multitude of ways from finding hiding enemies or detecting a potential enemy before he could strike, well as long as they're wanted' I think in excitement before making my way into the inn sending a wave to Kai I head straight to my bed.
