1 Chapter 1

"No! You can't do this!"

"Please, spare these innocent children!"

"Didn't you promise us safe passage? You executioners, demons, you'll face divine retribution!"

Bang!

With the echo of a gunshot, the desperate nun deceived by false promises fell in a pool of her own blood.

"Prattling on and on, did you believe everything I said? Hahahaha! Without my words, how would you have brought these brats to our doorstep? Saved us a lot of trouble indeed! Hahaha."

"You might as well know, our orders are to spare no one from this country. Every single one here, including the elderly and children, apart from your king who fled like a scared dog, must die!"

A soldier by the side frowned, "Simon, you've said too much."

"What's there to fear? They'll all be dead soon anyway, and the dead don't talk."

"Fire, eliminate them all!"

With the soldiers' cruel laughter and the spitting fire from their guns, the children were gunned down one after another.

The last images in the dying nun's eyes were those of the slaughtered children. Hearing their hopeless cries, she shed tears of regret before succumbing to eternal darkness.

"I'm sorry."

Even at her last breath, the compassionate light of redemption never shone upon these unfortunate souls.

All there was, was despair.

...

In the North Blue, September of Year 1506 of the Sea Circle Calendar, the kingdom of Fravence was destroyed by a neighboring country in war, and the 'White Town' was burnt down by a massive fire.

The World Government and Navy didn't interfere.

The known survivors were the royal family of Fravence, who had contacted the World Government early, forsaking their country and thus escaping.

Yet, through the pitch-black clouds, a faint ray of sunlight seemed to penetrate the despair, casting a soft glow.

...

Though 'White Town' Fravence was destroyed, the aftermath was still ongoing.

Like the bodies not fully consumed by the fire.

If not dealt with promptly, the plague could become the first wave of vengeance from the 'White Ghosts.'

So, the bodies were gathered on the outskirts of Fravence, waiting for the fuel to arrive for their cremation.

The mountainous pile of corpses was like a scene from purgatory itself!

One glimpse could give a person nightmares for days!

Even the soldiers responsible for moving the bodies didn't linger, leaving promptly after their task, away from this ominous place of death.

After all, what need was there to guard a pile of corpses? Could the dead rise and run away?

However, in the midst of the silence, a few bodies eerily stirred, sending shivers down the spine!

Thump...

Huff...huff...

With a few bodies tumbling down, a figure drenched in blood...
