Absolute Terror

I grab the sword in front of me with my right hand and I spend some time just contemplating the sword and thinking.

Oden mentioned that his other sword could kill a man in a matter of seconds, and still, the one I'm holding in my hand is the worst, what could be worse than dying in a couple of seconds? I can feel my heart pounding in my chest and sweat running through my back, but I can't back down, not now.

I slowly unsheathe the sword until it's completely drawn, leaving the sheath on my waist, I grab the katana with both hands and start raising it over my head preparing to do a simple vertical swing, something I've done thousands of times.

I bring down the sword in a perfect vertical line right in front of me.

"Ahh!" All my senses are assaulted by too many feelings, my touch, hearing, smell, it's like when I couldn't control it and I suffered a sensory overload, but this time it's on the edge between an overload and just downright pain.

I grab my head with my left hand and close my eyes and clench my teeth in pain.

A loud ringing noise reaches my ears and a flood of light blinds my eyes makin-

What?

This is not my sixth sen-, my haki, I can feel light hitting my eyes and my pupil trying desperately to adjust as if it has been years since it last did it, which was the case.

I start blinking trying to get rid of that uncomfortable sensation in my eyes, after a few seconds everything calms down and I can make a little sense of what is happening, all I see is a blur of colors, it starts to get sharper little by little.

I try to understand the mix of light and color before me.

No.

This is impossible.

I freeze at the sight, in front of me there's the capital, but it's completely different.

A sea of flames engulfs the Capital of Flowers like a starving beast, rivers of blood run down the streets originating from the mountains of corpses and ending in little red lakes.

Body parts were scattered across the floor next to bodies, disfigured beyond belief by the fire, it was like looking at a painting straight out of hell.

I start walking down the streets of the city where I was raised, now consumed by the flames and drowned by blood, the only sound that reaches my ears is the flames eating away my city.

I continue walking mindlessly looking at the massacre all around me until some bodies on the floor stop me, for 7 I couldn't see anything other than the outline of people and nothing else, not their faces, not their clothing, but when you have only one thing to focus about someone, you become really good at identifying that.

And I could recognize all these figures from a mile away.

The big figure of Doji, with many swords nailed on his back.

The slim body of Kiku, pinned to a wall by a sword in her abdomen.

The fluffy Nekomamushi, separated in two halves by the waist.

There were six more bodies, in such states that they weren't even recognizable, I could only guess who was who, but that wasn't all.

A mother was lying on the ground over a puddle of her blood, in both of her arms she was holding two children, a boy, no more than three years old, and a little girl, maybe a one year old, both still holding to the clothes of her mother despite being dead.

The corpses of his fellow servants were surrounding the mother and her children as if they were still protecting her even after death.

One didn't need to be a genius to know who they were.

And that still wasn't all.

My breathing began to accelerate, the sound of my heart beating in my ears was almost deafening, my guts started to revolve inside me like worms and my legs felt as if made of jelly.

Farther down the road were only two bodies, one next to each other.

A man was reaching forward with his hand as if trying to reach something, his face was still one of defiance, still fighting, even with that conviction on his face it all meant nothing with the sword embedded in his back.

And a woman, with black kimono filled with drawings of flowers and birds, had her hair tied in a bun all held together by two hairpins, her face covered by make up all ruined by the trails of tears left behind, she was beautiful but it was all ruined by her frightened expression, her throat was sliced open.

By the state of her clothes and the blood in certain places, whoever killed her took its time playing with her.

How could I not recognize the figures of the man that raised me and the woman of my life?.

I could feel my brain cracking, splitting apart while trying to stay together, every drop of my sanity draining away slowly and a myriad of voices whispering to me, each one of them pulling me in a different direction only cracking apart my psyche more and more.

I couldn't hear my thoughts under all those voices.

I don't know how long I stared at this image painted in front of me, minutes felt like hours, and hours felt like years.

Again a bright light assaulted my sight making me close my eyes.

All of a sudden I felt the comfortable feeling of a mattress on my back and the warm sensation of a blanket over me.

Ufff, that must have been a dream or something, maybe I fell unconscious under the pressure of Oden's Haki and he brought me back to the caste.

I've never been so relieved of something in my life... this still isn't right.

a beeping sound reaches my ears every few seconds.

A blinding light slips through the skin of my eyelids.

Confused, I try to open again my eyes slowly, only to be received by an all too familiar room.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO
