Exploring a new area

1 week after killing the lion, Shun decided to go explore a new area of the forest.

He waited a week to be in peak condition, as it was no joke to go to an unexplored area where there would most likely be more powerful beasts. All his life hunting beasts in the forest of Frauce Kingdom gave him a lot of caution.

After reaching the ancient lion area, he began to walk deeper, being on high alert all the time.

"But what the..." exclaimed Shun in surprise as he noticed the great change of scenery in just a few steps.

The trees started to look different, before they were a few trees between 10 to 30 meters in size.

Now the area was full of very tall trees, about 50 meters on average and there were even taller.

In addition, it was no longer a jungle-like area, but an area of giant trees.

There was also a river that crossed the entire area from north to south. He had not expected such an abrupt change in the landscape. After his surprise, he kept walking with his guard up.

"Mm?" Shun at one point felt a presence watching him from behind him a few meters away, even so, he pretended not to notice.

Out of nowhere he made a sudden movement to his right and started running at full speed, heading towards the presence watching him.

"Quack!"

This unidentified animal was surprised by Shun's sudden movement, he thought he was in a safe place as he had a distance between Shun's position and him of about 10 meters.

When Shun could see who it was that was watching him he stopped abruptly.

"This is... a duck?" he wondered with a strange look on his face.

In front of him was a giant 2 meter orange-yellow duck. Its beak was black and orange, and it had a black tail.

What puzzled Shun was that the duck was trying to hide behind the tree, but it was doing it very badly, as it left its whole body visible and only hid half of its face.

"..." Shun.

"..." Duck.

They both stared at each other and an awkward silence fell in the atmosphere.

The duck had a scary face and Shun had a poker face.

Shun quickly turned around and went on his original way, he knew that this duck didn't want to attack him and was just looking at him out of curiosity. Besides, he didn't need meat, so he didn't kill it.

When the duck saw Shun turn and leave it began to follow him making a strange noise every time it stepped.

Clack, clack, clack...

Shun didn't even need to use his ability to know that it was following him, as soon as he turned his head to look at the duck, it mistakenly hid again.

*This duck...* Shun thought to himself as he wondered if he thought he didn't see it when it was hiding like that.

He no longer cared about the matter and kept walking as the duck followed at a short distance.

Shun's stomach began to growl, it had been several hours since he left his cave so he was hungry.

Luckily he could sense the aura of an animal near the river, as he crept closer he saw a brown bear about 10 feet tall.

The bear had not noticed Shun's presence until he heard some strange footsteps.

As he turned around he saw a preteen and not far behind him was a duck.

"ROAR!" Roared the bear as it looked at them menacingly and prepared to fight.

"This duck..." Shun whispered with an angry tone and a vein stood out on his forehead.

The duck hid again, this time it was hiding from the bear, but again it went about it the wrong way.

As the bear prepared to attack, Shun compressed a lot of air in his arm and threw it with all his might.

"Cutting Wind!" shouted Shun with an angry tone for not being able to make a surprise attack and save energy.

Shun's arm shot out a blast of air in a cutting shape aimed at the bear. It was not aimed at its head but at one of its front paws.

As the compressed blast of air traveled toward the bear a sharp, cutting noise was heard.

The bear was surprised by the attack, it was very fast and covered quite a large area, so it was unable to dodge it.

FII~

Something was heard cutting through the bear's flesh. The bear's paw came off its body and it lay sprawled on the ground.

"ROAR!" a grunt of pain was heard from the bear as it tried to balance itself so as not to fall.

At this, Shun took advantage and created an air current that propelled him at full speed straight to the bear.

When he reached his side he had already formed a blade of air in one of his arms and stabbed the bear's head with great force.

SNAP!

The bear could do nothing and the air blade pierced its head killing it. Shun pulled the air blade out of the bear's head and the bear fell to the ground lifeless.

"Tsch how weak..." Shun muttered underneath hoping for a more exciting fight.

He set up a makeshift campfire and began to cook a portion of the bear. As the meat was cooking, the duck began to sniff the rich aroma of the roasting meat.

Slowly it began to approach where Shun was.

*Since when is an animal so trusting? Didn't you see how I sliced that bear?* Shun wondered, thinking that the duck had some kind of problem. Besides, he never imagined that a duck would like meat.

Shun grabbed a piece of meat and began to eat it. As he ate, the duck looked at him with puppy eyes begging for food.

"..." Shun couldn't believe his eyes, still, he wasn't that heartless, besides he wasn't going to eat the whole bear, and taking it to the cave was too much work, so he gave the duck a piece of meat.

"Quack quack" Said the duck in a happy tone as he grabs the meat and ate it.

Shun can't understand anything it said and continued to eat silently with a strange expression on his face. It was the first time in his long journey hunting wild beasts that one asked him for food.

After Shun and the duck had their fill, Shun got up and continued his exploration. The duck followed him a little closer and not as cautiously as before.

"..." Shun heard the duck's footsteps but said nothing and continued walking silently.
