Chapter 79: Washdown

A couple of days later, after Luffy's big move in Impel Down. Max knew that the news about him destroying the island was fake and it was all due to an accidental Buster Call. But the World Government couldn't admit that easily that they made a mistake. The Government doesn't make mistakes. That was the norm, in both worlds. 

Max sighed as he stood on the deck of his ship. Far in the distance, there was an island with smoke coming out of it. Negan was next to him, his eyes closed, Raynare stood a little back whispering something at Ain that seemed to annoy the latter. 

Suddenly Negan opened his eyes and sighed. "I heard thirteen spies, should we get rid of them?"

Max nodded, with Negan's ability to hear voices through his Observation Haki range due to his Devil Fruit, it was a very useful skill and he could even overhear any conversations. Especially since they were all in the ship he could hear everything.

"There is no rush," Max chided, his fist tightening. "We must be calm and get rid of them at the right time."

"Tch, we should get rid of them immediately! Instead of acting like cowards!" Shuzo intervened.

He was the man from Zed's Neo Marines, though his identity had been a little muddled now and technically worked under Max as a counselor. Same with Ain and Binz.

The rest of the Neo Marines just got speed recruited into as new marines under Max, he had the permission to do that now as a Vice Admiral. 

Negan seemed to take the long-armed man's outburst personally. "I will shove my bat so far down your throat you will feel it in your guts. Sheep like you should just follow along and not ask questions."

"What?!" Shuzo got enraged.

Binz tried to stop his comrade. "Hey man, calm down, we can-"

"Shut the hell up!" But Shuzo was undeterred and yelled out. "Zed wouldn't have put up with spies on his ship! Who the hell does something like that? Even right now they are digging the dagger on your back even deeper. Cancer like that needs to be gotten rid of very quickly."

"Your boss, Zed, died miserably," said Raynare coldly, her purple eyes shone with coldness. "Our organization doesn't work recklessly like yours. If you want to keep talking... I will kill you."

"You-"

In a flash, Negan was before Shuzo and his spiked bat crackled through the air like godly fury.

Baaam!!

Smashing the man in the head like a porcupine, the bat's spikes dug into the long-armed man's skull and punctured his brain. Killing him on impact.

Shuzo's body fell on the ground, his head cracked like an egg and his brain matter spilled on the ground. 

Ain and Binz looked at it like they were hypnotized, they couldn't believe what just happened. 

"I believe you have misunderstood something," Negan started speaking with a bloodthirsty smile on his face. "We don't need you, but you need us for survival. So don't question Max's orders, you dimwits. You are the reason your previous boss died, and we ain't about to let ours meet the same end because of your dumb decisions."

"Hmmm~" Max hummed, observing the situation with an unreadable look. "There was no need to kill him, but your point still stands. My decisions are absolute, you can offer a suggestion or point out any holes in my plans, but that's it. In the end, the decision will always be mine to make, whether it's wrong or right doesn't matter."

Ain finally got out of her stupor and tears came out of her eyes as she looked at Max hatefully. "I will kill you one day!"

But he just shrugged nonchalantly. "Good luck on that, just don't get in my way. You are only here as my last favor to Zed because remember, I am a Marine that spared all your lives once I defeated Zed. That was your first and only chance, don't test my patience."

"Am I interrupting something?" Asked Reiju as she floated on the air by using some strange boots. Looking around, observing the scene she got the gist of what had happened. "Anyway," she landed on the ground and stared at Max. "Whitebeard has made the move that you predicted and the World Government is in panic."

Everyone in Max's crew ignored the dead body of the long-armed man like nothing had happened.

Binz still looked at his friend's dead body, while Ain and Shuzo had always been kinda enemies and the latter had even tried to kill her in their fight. 

But Binz was different, he and Shuzo were friends and had joined the Mariners at the same time. He wanted to go and fight Negan right now, but his body couldn't move no matter how much he tried. 

Because as he looked at Negan one thought ran through his head on repeat, that was the memory of Shuzo getting his brains turned into mush. Fear, death, terror, murder, slaughter, his made was filled with such thoughts.

The disregard for life that happened here was unmistakable. No one cared. 

'Am I next?' - Binz asked himself. 'Will this be my end? One where Negan got angry for an outburst and killed me?'

Suddenly, as if reading his mind, Negan looked at him with a knowing look and smirked. This made a chill go down his spine. 

'He knows!!' - Screamed Binz mentally, his squarish body feeling like weak noodles.

On the other side of the sea from Max, the prison Impel Down stood strong and tall. Like a tower that seemed unshakable. 

Magellan, the warden, was like always in his bathroom releasing himself. He was on the first floor, looking at an inmate while at the same time doing his business in a portable toilet. "What were your crimes again?"

"I am innocent!" Yelled out the scrawny man in front of him. "I was framed by the World Government!"

But Magellan didn't pay any attention to this, the number of people who lied on these was unimaginable. 99% of the prisoners here claimed to be innocent. Even when they were caught with their pants down, sometimes literally.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!

Suddenly the whole prison shook, and one of the prison guards came in a rush. "Warden!! Urgent news!! We are under attack!!"

Magellan immediately got up and exited his toilet. "What?! By whom?!" Only a madman would attack Impel Down. 

"I I-it's…" the man stuttered, seemingly the words got stuck on his throat. "The Whitebeard Pirates!!!!"

"WHAT?!!" Screamed out Magellan, together with everyone else in the vicinity. News of Ace's capture hadn't become public yet and only some higher-ups knew about it, so this attack was unexpected. 

While normally Magellan would be confident in holding back any intruder… a Yonko and his crew were a whole other matter. 

BOOOOOM!!!

Another shaking happened and this time, the walls around them started cracking.

"The whole prison is going to sink!" Yelled out one of the guards.

"Don't be stupid," Magellan punched him in the head. After taking a deep breath, the poison-man calmed down. "That would kill the person he is trying to save. Anyway, call everyone here, we are going to hold this fort down till the Admirals arrive."

While he was worried about the situation, worry wouldn't help him. Instead, Magellan resolved to use his life and stop Whitebeard from entering Impel Down.

Outside of the prison, hundreds of ships with different flags had surrounded the place.

No one would be getting out of here. Whitebeard also stood at the head of his ship, Moby Dick, and he frowned at the structure that wasn't falling even due to the hundreds of cannons that it was hit by. 

"Tell everyone to stop," ordered the old man, clenching his fist and a white translucent bubble surrounded it. "I am gonna bring it down," he said as if it was a fact. "Stay back everyone!"

With that warning, he swung his fist and it seemed like the world itself was about to break.
