Chapter 55

Title: Meeting...

Negan looked at Luffy and smirked. "Young man~ do you have any money on you?" 

"Yeah," Luffy answered honestly, unbothered by what the man was talking to just did. "But I am not going to get you a free drink. Makino always said to not give drunkards anything."

"Hey now, that hurts my feelings. I ain't asking you to give it for free." Negan reasoned, the smirk on his face seemed to never slip off his face. "I will give you some of the treasure from my ship if you pay for my drink. That sounds fair right?"

The Strawhat captain nodded. "Yeah, okay, mustache guy," he called over the bartender. "Give that guy a drink, it's on me."

Luffy got a foolish smirk on his face after that, he had always wanted to say something cool like that. That moment was interrupted by Nami who harshly whispered to him. "Why would you do something like that?!"

"Don't worry Nami, that guy said that he would pay us back with treasure." He reasoned. 

"He was lying, you idiot! That's obviously a lie!" She got even angrier when she heard his reasons for wasting money on some violent guy with a sketchy aura radiating off him. Luffy didn't seem to get the memo and just straight up asked Negan. "Did you lie to me? My friend said that you did and now that I look you also have a sketchy aura."

"Nah man, I am a Marine." Said Negan as he took a huge gulp of rum. "My boss always complained about my drinking so I never did it in front of him. Though now it's my real chance to drink as I am going to meet him soon."

Zoro who was staying quiet during this whole time had his interest peaked by this. Negan felt more like a rabid dog without a leash, someone who doesn't listen to anyone, and his actions are all dictated by the mood he was in. Someone like that won't listen to anyone, even if their lives were on the line. Yet here Negan was talking about his leader who didn't allow him to drink alcohol.

Though Zoro, Luffy, and Nami all agreed on one thing… this guy wasn't a Marine. He had a look and Aura on him that seemed sketchy, and even scummy marines didn't have that sketchy vibe to them the same level Negan had it.

At the same time, on the other side of the island, something that people don't usually see in Jaya happened. A dozen or so Marine warships had landed, the ship leading them all was bigger than the rest and had a bear's head carved in front of the ship. 

Jaya was an island was filled with pirates and other similar scum. Many of them were willing to fight against some marines. 

"Shit!!" yelled out one of the criminals in panic as he saw the docks. "That's Bead D. Max's ship!"

"What's wrong with you man? Can't you just shut up? We are gonna kill some marines. So be happy!" Said another guy with scars all over his body and a psychotic look on his face.

"Where is Bellamy? He wouldn't miss this for anything?" 

"Yeah, that guy is the strongest here."

By the time they finished talking, the ship with the bear carved on the front had the bear's mouth open and a ramp slowly extended out. 

Max walked out wearing his marine uniform with a coat that had written on the back 'Technically Legal Justice'. The smile on his face was like that of a mafioso coming in for protection money. "Hello, hello~ my good sirs, how the hell are you doing?"

"Who the fùck does this cocky guy think he is?"

"Is he even a marine?"

"Must be new, he doesn't know that this place isn't one where marines dare set foot on."

Max on the other hand ignored all of the snide remarks and the grin even grew wider. "Anyway, the ones with a bounty go to the right. Those without a bounty go to the left."

The man with a lot of scars on his body stepped forward. He had been tortured by sadistic marines before and he hated them all with a passion. "You bastard!!"

"Huh?" Max looked at him curiously.

"You think you can just come here and-"

Fwish!

Max flickered a small metal ball that hit the scarred man straight in the forehead. There was such power behind the attack, that the top of the man's head exploded like a watermelon. 

"Anyone else got any complaints?" Asked Max with a gentle smile. No one said anything, they didn't even see him attack so from their point of view the scarred man was just talking and suddenly the top of his head exploded. "Good, since even if you complained I wouldn't give a shìt. You are pirate scum with no rights, so shut up and follow along with what I say, then maybe you might live longer."

The people listened to him and the criminals with bounties went to their side while those without bounty went to the other side.

Max nodded proudly. "Good job sheep."

He then took out a handful of small metal balls from his pocket. Each of them was about the size of a small pellet.

Then he threw them all at once like he was playing baseball. The criminals without a bounty could only scream as they were ripped to shreds from the metal balls. Each of them was killed in less than five seconds, Max used his Observation Haki to sense anyone lucky to survive that and then killed them too.

The men with bounties looked on in fear and their bodies shook. Some had thought about going to the other side, after all, even if they had bounties maybe they could slip out. Now they thanked their lucky stars they didn't do that. Some had done something similar, but Max couldn't bother himself to go through each person and check if they had a bounty.

Max looked at all of this uninterested and saw that there were around forty people with bounties. 'Is this enough to get me the Vice Admiral rank?' He wondered, the killing of over a hundred people didn't weigh on his conscience at all. Also, there was a good reason for it, his ships didn't have enough prisons to hold so many people. These low-level criminals didn't have a bounty either so their existence, in general, was useless to Max.

"Ray, take care of the scum here!" He ordered Raynare who always stood behind him like his shadow. "I will take over this island, send some men into the place so they can keep it quiet after I take the criminals down."

So with that Max went around beating scum, and using his experience of recognizing people that seemed distinctive enough to have a bounty. Those people were left alive, while the common criminals were killed by him. He didn't even bother to use his Devil Fruit and easily mowed through all of his enemies.

His subordinates had a hard time keeping up since they had to put shackles on the people Max didn't kill. But as he got along the island, he reached a pub and smirked, he remembered that this was the place Luffy got beat up by Bellamy.

Max smirked maliciously as he went inside, but in there he saw Bellamy on the ground and Luffy, Nami, and Zoro drinking and asking another guy some questions.

The guy turned around and smiled at Max. "Yo, Boss-Man, can you lend me some money?"

There were many things Max wanted to ask, but instead, he smirked back and said. "What do I look like to you? Like a goddamn bank? Fùck no! I ain't lending you shìt."
