Chapter 30

Title: Drum Kingdom...

It didn't take Max even two weeks to get to the destination he had been hoping to arrive at. He looked at the snowy towers that shot us on the winter island of the Drum Kingdom and he smirked.

This was amazing. Every time he saw Wonders like this he became even more entranced with this world. Max sat down on the deck of his ship, with his feet dangling toward the water.

Raynare flew up to keep an eye on the sky. Kaku was wiping the floors of the ship due to being the most junior member of the crew. Blueno would be doing the same, but the crew liked him because he made good drinks.

The waters were quiet and the ship got closer to the bay. Without much worry, Max got up and stretched. "Ray, can you bring out Sharlia?"

"I don't think she wants to see you, Max. Lately, you haven't been paying attention to her and spending all of your time training," said Raynare with a hint of a smile on her face.

But Max wasn't bothered by this and only shrugged. "Just tell her that I want to apologize."

Raynare sighed and went below deck to give the World Noble the news.

She came with Sharlia not even a minute later, and the World Noble had an excited look on her face. She gazed at Max and puffed her chest smugly. "So, what did you want to say to me, Max?"

Raynare looked at her with a look that said. 'Wow, she is easy to impress.'

Max on the other hand just chuckled and went towards her. Putting a hand on her cheek and clasping it. "You know that I care about you Sharlia, right? To me, you are one of my most important friends. I would give my life for you, not because of your heritage, but because you are Sharlia."

Sharlia blushed at this, though she still seemed unsatisfied. Max only smiled unknowingly, he didn't need to be seen as someone who can see straight through her like an x-ray. But he needed people to revive him as someone caring for his friends. Though in all honesty, he didn't like Sharlia at all. What was there to like about her? The girl's appearance was average at best, and her personality was pretty bad… and that was putting it lightly.

Still, Sharlia was useful, so he decided to keep her on board. That was why he had done so, to begin with. With her 'permission' he can do whatever the hell he wants in this world. Of course, he controlled her quite well, so those 'permissions' were just excuses to the World Government. It was quite a weird feeling for Max, he wasn't following the law at all. Instead, the law was following him, and whatever he did was seen as legal since Sharlia is with him.

Now Max just needed to eliminate a couple of people in her life and she would be dependent on him. He then smirked as he thought of her brother and father, the only family she had left in this world. If she was alienated by them, that would be the final straw and Sharlia would fall in Max's arms wholeheartedly. Of course, this wasn't as easily done as said. But it wasn't impossible either. The World Nobles weren't exactly known to build a good family relationship.

Plus Sharlia was still in her teens, and she could be easily manipulated due to her naive upbringing and young age.

Still, though, these thoughts went inside Max's mind as he just patted Sharlia in the back with a gentle smile on his face. "C'mon now, I bet you haven't seen a snowy island before. There are many things we should explore together."

Sharlia nodded, the blush adorning her face getting even brighter. Max's gentle smile didn't budge even an inch, as if he hadn't noticed the emotional turmoil he was causing.

He had made a vague statement by saying 'we' and making it seem like that included only Sharlia and Max going exploring. When that was quite far from it, they would all be going. Of course, this might create a little friction between Raynare and Sharlia, but that would be good, anything easy to get isn't worth getting. Instinctively people devalue things that are easy to get. Just like diamonds, they aren't as rare as people think they are.

Still, he knew that Raynare and Sharlia 'fighting' over him a little would only raise his value. Instead of being with them for lust, he could use this way to raise his value.

When they landed on Drum Island, they were welcomed like celebrities. With King Wapol at the forefront of the celebration.

"World Noble Sharlia! Welcome to my Drum Kingdom! I welcome you with all my might! I have personally come here to offer you a dinner invitation." Wapol's voice boomed through the place as his mouth had turned into a makeshift loudspeaker.

But he looked around confused as he saw no grand celebration on the guests' side. There was no grand entrance as one would expect of a normal World Noble. Instead, Sharlia was wearing a marine uniform suited for women. Her hair was also tied up in a normal ponytail.

She didn't exactly have the looks to stand out in a crowd. Neither did Wapol know how she looked, he had just assumed that a World Noble would be easy to spot, even if they traveled in a marine ship.

Max walked forward, his hands in his pockets and his back slouched. "Yo! Thanks for the welcome, Wapol. So where is your castle? We have been at sea for so long and would like to taste some of the local delicacies."

"Who are you?" Asked Wapol, with a disgusted look on his face. "Take me to see the World Noble, I don't have time to joke around here!"

-Raynare-

She observed from the side and saw how Max was trying to instigate a conflict. Raynare knew her captain could be very charismatic if he wanted to. He could make even the most arrogant kinds end up as his friends by the end of the day, yet Max was acting like a 'normal' person.

This immediately put her on edge, Max was planning something and he had kept it under wraps from the whole crew. Of course, it was so the crew could act 'natural' meaning that he was about to do something shocking.  The last time he had done something like this… well, he got Sharlia. So Raynare was on edge, wondering if maybe he was going to do something along the lines of killing Wapol or maybe even leave the Marines. What was stopping him from doing both?

"Well, excuse the shit out of me you fat King. I just came here to say hello, no need to be such a rude asshole." Said Max, acting as if Wapol had just insulted his family. Even though he had just asked who he was. He might have asked condescendingly, but that was to be expected of most Kings.
