Chapter 1: The Day Rain Felt Right

It was a stormy day on Thunder Cloud Isle, an island in Paradise the first half of the Grand Line. It's not that surprising since it's an eternal storm on that island, it's residents also didn't mind the storm. They were used to it and were happy people. It's ironic that it was always stormy on that island but the people were as happy as if it was a sunny day. The storm never reflected the feelings of it's residents.....until today that is. Pirates raided their homes, slaughtering men, women, and children. In a two story home there was a little boy holding the body of a dying woman. The woman had waist long bright white hair and blue eyes. The boy had waist long bright white hair as well, but his eyes were a deep scarlet.

The woman had numerous stab wounds in her torso, she was barely breathing. It was a miracle that she was still alive. "Sora..." she said her voice barely audible as blood ran down her lip. Sora, the red eyed boy bit his lip unable to scream and cry out because of the Pirates outside.

"Mom....please stop, you don't have enough strength to speak." He said rather calmly in this desperate situation. Sora was a doctor in training, his mother was teaching him the ways of doctoring and poisons. She would always say 'if you want to know how to save, you have to know how to kill'. The statement was rather ironic given the fact that she refused to use her poisons to kill, even if it meant saving her own life, which was exactly the reason why she was in this situation currently. Sora knew he couldn't heal his mother's injuries, she was already 'dead' in a sense.

"Sora..." She said again, this time turning her head to the left to look him in the eyes. Her eyes were glazed over and she could barely see, but she turned her head to him anyway. She reached out, her hand shaky and covered in blood, moving slowly she ran her bloody hand through his hair. "Your hair was always so pretty Sora" *cough!* she coughed up a little blood and continued. "I loved how you grew it out so much." She finished her sentence as her hand dropped from his hair, she didn't have enough strength to lift it anymore. She smiled a little at Sora, her eyes refocused for just a second taking a clear look at Sora and she whispered "I love you" before her eyes glossed over again and she lost all strength, she passed in his arms taking her final breath. Tears welled up in Sora's eyes and they flowed, he hugged her body as he silently wept into her chest.

---A Little While Later---

When Sora finally stopped crying he gently put down her body. He silently walked to the window and looked outside. When he looked out he saw a bunch of ransacked houses, some were even burning. He guessed they were oil fires since the rain couldn't put them out. He was surprised to see that there weren't any pirates outside. "I guess they left after taking everything." Sora said coldly as he turned away from the window and walked away. He didn't know what to do anymore, he walked over and sat beside his mom's body, he was already covered in blood so he didn't mind sitting in it. He just stared at his mother, he looked at the gold pocket watch in the the breast pocket of her white doctors overcoat. He grabbed and opened the watch, on the inside was a picture. It was a picture of his mother holding him when he was about 3 years old, she was in her overcoat but had casual attire under it. Sora was in a white long sleeve and had black overalls on. Sora looked at the pocket watch, he felt like crying but there weren't anymore tears left for him to cry. He stood up and shoved the watch into his pocket as he went upstairs to put on his shoes. Once he was done he went back downstairs and opened the front door. He was greeted with heavy rain as he walked outside. He walked down the road of the town looking at all the damage the town took. There was blood and corpses everywhere. Sora grimaced at the sight, he didn't feel queasy as he was used to blood and gore. He walked up to the corpse of a young man, he grabbed the corpse and dragged it to the edge of the town.

"None of you deserved to die like this. I'll make sure everyone is properly buried." Sora said with a soft smile. He walked back and forth from the town, each time he left a corpse at the edge where he put the first corpse.

---A While Later---

Sora dragged the final corpse to the edge of town. He was covered in mud and blood. He tripped and fell a few times which was the reason for the mud, and the blood was from the corpses. His mother's corpse was still in the house, he wanted her burial to be special.

He started digging burial places for all of the townsfolk. Every time he finished a grave pit he would drag a body and dump it in. He'd cover the pit and dig another right beside it.

After Sora had finished burying the townsfolk he went home, he took a deep breath as he entered the house. He was tired, he wanted to drop down and pass out, but he didn't. He walked over to his mom's corpse, without a word he picked it up and dragged it to the backyard. He grabbed the shovel that was outside and dug a grave pit. Once he was done he dropped his mother inside and covered it up, but this time he planted a few of her favorite flowers on the grave. Once he was done, he lost his strength and fell backward into the mud, too tired to move. He looked up at the cloudy dark sky, it was so dark that you wouldn't be able to tell if it was day or night. "I'm.....tired." He said in a barely audible whisper as he looked up at the sky and slowly he passed out from exhaustion.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is my second fanfic, I'm writing another one called 'One Piece: The Matter Human'. The concept was good, but the story is lackluster. I plan on making the next chapters higher quality and plan to improve my writing so my stories can be better.

Please check it out if you want to, and any advice would be helpful. I take constructive criticism and regular hateful criticism happily.
