8 Chapter 8

Jack was even more surprised to hear what he had said. Why would he want to do such a thing? What was his purpose?

"Why would you do such a thing? What is your intention?" Jack said while looking at Vegapunk across from him.

Why would someone who's been doing crazy experiments on him want to save him?

"I don't have much time to explain, all I can say is I'm doing this for the good of the world. You can escape from here using the turmoil out there." Vegapunk said.

Then he started to quickly unlock the chains on Jack with the key he brought with him.

After he was released, Jack looked at Vegapunk and said, "How about you? If it is found out that you have set me free, very bad things can happen to you."

Vegapunk said with a smile, "Don't worry, they won't even notice I'm here. I'm also sorry for doing such horrible things to you. But I had to. Please live your life normally somewhere far from here."

As Jack walked towards the door, he said, "I don't blame you as much as I blame them. But you can't tell me what to do either." Before stepping outside, he added sternly, "The next time I come here, I'm going to raze this place down."

Vegapunk sighed heavily as he looked after him. Vegapunk did not fully grasp Jack's situation at first.

But after researching him thoroughly, he realized the powers hidden deep within him. And he realized that if the World Government could use these powers, terrible things would happen in the world.

So he knew that no matter what, he had to escape and be never seen again. If the World Government could decipher his genetics, then no one could stand against them.

Vegapunk was also aware of another solution, killing Jack. But unfortunately, he was not cruel enough to kill an innocent child. At least he hoped that Jack would die unknowingly out there somewhere. Thus, there would be no possibility of creating a very powerful weapon.

Meanwhile, Jack sneaked away from Mary Geoise in the commotion caused by the fire and the escaped slaves.

A few weeks later*

On an ordinary island in the first half of the Grand Line, someone in a cape was wandering around. Also, because of the hoodie on his head, his face was not clearly visible. He was, of course, Jack, who had run away from Mary Geoise a few weeks ago.

Jack made his way through the side streets towards the port. After arriving there, he took a quick glance at the ships moored in the harbor, and without wasting any time, he hid inside the ship that first caught his eye.

Jack was in such a hurry because he was spotted by a marine a short time ago.

When the marine noticed him, he asked Jack to take off his cloak and show his face. Thinking he'd been discovered, Jack quickly knocked him unconscious, then began to head towards the harbor to escape the island.

After waiting for a while, Jack finally realized that the ship was moving.

After a while, Jack realized that someone was approaching him and prepared himself by holding his breath. If he was noticed, he had to do something.

Before boarding this ship, he had noticed that the pirate flag was hanging. So maybe with a little money, he could easily get it done. If they didn't want money, then he would talk with a fist.

When Jack noticed that the pirate was getting closer, he slowly pulled out the knife he had hidden in his wrist. Realizing that the pirate was getting closer, Jack knew he would have to do something.

Therefore, after waiting for the pirate to get closer, he quickly pulled the pirate to himself and put his knife to the pirate's neck.

"If you make a wrong move, I will stab this knife straight down your neck. And then I blow up this ship. Did you understand?" Jack pressed his knife to his neck, covering his mouth with his other hand so he wouldn't scream. Also, Jack realized that the person he had captured was not a human being.

The pirate quickly nodded.

Jack took the guns off her and then said as he pushed him forward, "Good. If all goes well, we shouldn't have any problems. Now take me to your captain so I can talk to him."

After swallowing nervously, the pirate nodded in approval and started walking slowly.

After walking for a while, the two of them were on the deck of the ship. And of course, they were spotted directly by other pirates on board.

When they saw their friend being held hostage by a mysterious person, they couldn't help but get angry and quickly drew their weapons to attack him.

After realizing their intention, Jack pressed his knife firmly into the pirate's neck and shouted, "Back off! If one of you gets one step closer, your friend will, unfortunately, drown in his own blood! Let your captain come to negotiate!"

The pirates were forced to retreat reluctantly. At that moment, a room of the ship was slammed open and a salmon pink fishman came out. Hearing Jack's speech, it was clear that he was angry.

"Who dares take one of my crew hostage!?" The captain said with an angry expression as he looked towards Jack.

Jack looked at him in surprise and said. "It is truly our destiny to meet you! Fisher Tiger!"

He also drew back his knife, freeing his hostage.

Fisher Tiger stared at the mysterious man in surprise, realizing that the voice he heard sounded familiar. Then he asked in surprise, with a face slightly appearing in his mind, "Jack, is that you?"
