I’ll walk out of your life just like you’re doing now and I won’t come back again,” Maya said determination filled her voice. “I’ll wait for that day,” Damian said coldly and turned to leave. Chapter Eighteen:

Damian was sitting on the bench outside the ward when Maya got there. He had his face buried in his palms and his hair was messed up. He was tapping his right foot slightly on the tiles.

"What's wrong with grandpa? He was fine earlier. What did the doctor say?" Maya said sitting next to him. She lifted her hand and started patting his back softly when she heard him sniff. Was he crying? Maya didn't know how deep Damian affection for was old man was because he never showed it. Seeing this she felt so bad for him.

"I'm sure everything will be fine. Let's..."

"Damian," a male voice had Damian's head up.

"Doctor, how is my grandpa," Damian asked the doctor.

"Master Dan had a mild heart attack but he's not in danger for now..."

"What do you mean for now?" Maya asked worry written all over her face. Damain stole and quick glance at her and he almost smiled. Nobody has ever cared for his grandfather this way, not even Amber.

" He has to stay away from stress and have enough rest. He had stop taking his medications too, so I think a keen eye has to be kept on him," the doctor said Maya nodded.

" You heard that right? Grandpa is fine, there's no need to get so worked up. You know your old man is as strong as a teenager so come cheer up." Maya said adjusting his tilted tie. Damian's heart suddenly felt at ease after hearing those words from Maya. After adjusting his tie, Maya stood on my toes to straighten up his messy hair.

Just then, Damain wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. Maya gasped at the sudden action and tried to pull away but he only tightened his grip.

"Damain what are you doing?" Maya whispered, glad that he couldn't see how red she was right now. Maya buried her face in his chest and took in a deep breath, instantly falling in love with his masculine scent. She dropped her tense shoulders and wrapped her small arms around his waist.

"Thanks very everything Maya, you're the best wife anyone could ever wished for."

Maya felt butterflies in her stomach as soon as the word wife left Damian's lips.

'Don't let it get to you. He's only saying that because of his current state.' Maya scolded herself.

She instantly cleared her throat and pulled away from him. " This is a hospital, we should not be doing this here." Maya said looking around to see if anyone had seen them. Fortunately and unfortunately Maddie had seen them. Fortunately because if others had seen them, it would have been bad for Damian's reputation since she hasn't been introduced officially to his business partners. And unfortunately because Maddie won't bugging Maya with questions.

" You should head inside now, I'll be with you shortly." Maya said and Damian left without a word.

"OMG bestie!" Maddie whisper-yelled as she run towards Maya. "Who is that super hot guy and why did he call you wife?" Maddie asked and Maya rolled her eyes. "Is that Damian? Why didn't you introduce him to me?" Maddie kept bombarding Maya with questions.

"Yes, that is Damian and I didn't introduce you guys because as you can see he is stressed." Maya said, rolling her eyes.

"You didn't tell me he was so in love with you," Maddie teased and Maya sighed at how annoying she was being.

"What makes you say that? Huh?"

"It seems you're forgetting who I am," Maddie chuckled.

" Whatever let's go," Maya said and walked inside the ward grandpa was being admitted to. The old man was in a blue hospital gown and a smile played on his lips as soon as Maya walked in.

" Grandpa, are you ok?" Maya asked her voice full of concern.

"I'm fine dear, there's nothing to worry about," the old man smiled. " I can see you have company," the old man said as soon his eyes met.

"That's Maddie, my best friend. She was back in town so we decided to catch up on old times," Maya said and the old man nodded.

"Come her child, don't just stand there. Come say hi to your old man," Master Dan said and Maddie walked to shake the old man's hand.

"Grandpa, the doctor said your stopped taking your drugs. Why?" Maya sais as he massaged the old man's legs.

"These doctors are always finding this out." The old man groaned.

"I don't know why you're so unconcerned about your health grandpa. You had all of us so worried and I had to leave an important meeting because of you. Do you know how hard it was to finally get this company to agree to work with us?" Damian said, both worry and irritation filled his voice.

"Calm down Damian, don't speak to grandpa like that. Remember he's still in a hospital gown," Maya told Damian calmly.

"Yes son, I'm still in a hospital bed so if you want go back home with you don't yell at me," the old man said with a chuckle. "Speaking of going home, when am I getting discharged. This place is boring," Master Dan said.

" Grandpa, you haven't fully recovered and you're already talking about going home? The doctor has to take care of you so hang on there." Maya chuckled.

Damian glanced at his watch and got up. "I have to leave now, you can give me a call me in case you need something," Damian said and Maya nodded.

"Ok take care," Maya said as Damain walked out. Seconds later, a nurse walked in with a tray of water and some pills.

"Sir, the doctor asked me to bring you this," she said lifting the small cup that contained the pills.

"Dr. Simons is busy with a patient but he'll be here with you any minutes," the nurse said.

"Then just leave it here, I'll take it when he comes," the old man.

Maya looked at the nurse who was ready to leave the medicine and walk out.

" Grandpa, please take the pills. That is if you want to get well and leave this boring place." Maya tried to coax the old man into taking his pills.

"Fine I will but only because I want to go back home and go back to planning your wedding. You know it's just three days away."

This new revelation made Maya's face turn pale.

" Three days?! Grandpa you never told us." Maya whined.

" Oh my bad," the old man smiled. " Don't worry that's enough time. After all I'm getting discharged today and I've already ordered a suit for Damian and Audrey will be here soon to take your measurements. That means the wedding attire should this arrive this evening."

" This evening?" Maya asked and the old man nodded. "Who makes a dress within a few hours?" Maya asked.

"She's being paid for it," Master Dan shrugged.

"What about the one we bought at the mall?" Maya asked.

"Too boring so the maids returned it." the old man said casually. May dropped the topic because she knew there was no point in trying to chane the old man's mind.
