One Last Time (Lee Eunhyuk x Reader)

"Why are you still here," his voice broke down the silence that spread around the room as soon as the signal went out again. "We don't have the luxury to hold grudges on each other. Besides," she said turning to him, "I know I'm a burden." (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑) A new girl moved to live in a quiet area of a dingy but warm space of Green Room Apartment to stay closer to her college. Apart from having a quite busy life, Y/N was pretty much happy. She found happiness from little things in life - annoying a resident wearing specs was one of them. Having a teensy bit of a crush on him was not exactly a lie. But she had other priorities to focus on, ofcourse. Well atleast she had. With a turn of events, and monsters crawling in and out of the building, her daily life took a halt in its steps. She heard in stories that traumatic events often brought two people together. And that felt true until the only person she felt safe around showed a different side.

A Lot of Blushing

She halted by her steps and looked down. Yes, it was definitely blood. But Eunhyuk doesn't need to know this now...right? She was glad about the electricity being off for the moment. She just needed a bit more time until she reached the bathroom.

Looking up, she realized Eunhyuk has stopped walking and watching her silently. She stuttered, "Uh...let's go."

"What happened?" he asked in his usual monotonous tone.

"Nothing," she replied and started walking faster. But Eunhyuk wasn't convinced. He stopped her from walking further, holding her wrists and turned her around.

"I don't need danger in this building now," he said, probably glaring at her. It wasn't like she could see his face properly but there was something about the way he said that made her realize that he could be pissed off if she lied. But well, she still didn't want to give in. Yes, he was intimidating but by now she knows how to handle angry people. Living in this building isn't easy and she had to learn this by herself.

"I told you it's nothing," she said.

"It's not nothing. I know you're lying-" and before he could say anything further, the lights came on. He observed her face as she was staring at him...with a blush on her face. She was blushing. Y/N quickly snatched her hand away and looked sideways.

And then he realized it. Looking down at her whole demeanor, he noticed the red color on her clothes...correction, pants. "Oh," his voice softened.

"Got a good look? Can I leave now?!" she said trying to sound pissed, although there was a hint of embarrassment in it.

"I'm a medical student. You don't need to be shy about that," he said, still staring at her face.

The blush on her face wasn't going to go anytime soon. She gathered up courage and turned to look at him. "Don't tell me what I need to feel. You are not the one dealing with this. I know," she said and faced down unable to look into his eyes any longer, "that I don't need to be shy about it. But I can't help it...cause its...you."

A strange kind of feeling bubbled in his stomach. He didn't know what it was or why as a matter of fact. He had no other response to Y/N's comment. So he took off his shirt that he wore over his t-shirt and handed it to her.

"I don't need it," she said and was about to turn when she heard a voice booming through the corridor. She covered herself and tried to hide grabbing the nearest thing to her - nearest thing being Eunhyuk. Someone was whistling and coming towards them. Hearing a chuckle from the wall she used to hide herself, she looked up at Eunhyuk's face trying to get a glimpse of that emotion she has never come across. He found this funny enough to laugh?

"What are you guys doing?" she heard Byeongil's voice from the opposite side of the corridor.

Eunhyuk, instead of responding, turned to face her and tied his shirt around her waist silently. She watched his face in a bit of awe, a small smile forming on his face.

"O-Oh sorry, didn't mean to interrupt. Don't mind me," Byeongil said and covered his eyes, walking blindly towards the supermarket.

She cleared her throat and tried to change the subject, "Uh, you should go to control room now."

"Why are you still blushing? Are you still embarrassed?" Eunhyuk asked, instead.

"Uh, I-I am not blushing. Your glasses are absolutely useless," she said, as her face reddened more. Y/N glared at him.

Eunhyuk tried to control himself from laughing and said, "Do you want to go to the bathroom straight away or do you want to ask any of the ladies for a pad?"

She squeaked and ran away, slipping and almost falling on the way. Eunhyuk let out a breath and watched her stop by her tracks in the middle of the corridor. "It...It would be nice if you informed one of the girls about getting me a pad."

She waited for his reply, hands gripping tightly on the shirt around her waist - his shirt. "Sure," he said as she immediately started rushing towards the washroom.

A tiny smile covered his face. Maybe...she was just a little bit...cute.

Almost everyone was gathered in the daycare center. Y/N turned to Hyein with a smile and said, "Thank you."

"Oh don't worry about that! We all need to stick together and help each other. I know you'll help me if I got into trouble too right?"

Woah..okay.

Y/N's smile faltered and she said, "Yes."

"Hey, Y/N," Byeongil was staring at her with a sly smile, "So? Is something...going on with between you and Eunhyuk?"

"Uh..uh..no you've misunderstanding," she replied, her face getting hotter every second.

"No way! I saw both of you-"

"You didn't see clearly what we were doing."

He stuttered, eyebrows furrowing and then grinned again, "Then why are you blushing?"

"It's because-" she was about to reply but got interrupted in between.

The television which was turned on, and had no signal suddenly went live again. The president was standing and he was saying something. Ofcourse, it was like the text they received. Probably some kind of broadcast everyone was able to see about the danger they were facing.

"My fellow citizens, we are declaring a state of emergency. Do not leave your homes. The monsters are extremely dangerous. The government will prioritize citizens' safety and-" the president stopped speaking and looked like he was struggling. He suddenly went down for a moment before getting up again but this time with blood covering his face, "As if! Everyone's going to die. You're all fucked!" He couldn't continue further as he fell down with one headshot. The thing is...he still wasn't dead. A bullet through his brain didn't keep him down. Several military came in and took him away.

The broadcast ended.

Y/N started taking short breaths. Oh, she realized she was getting tensed again as sweat started forming on her forehead. Immediately getting up, she started walking where she could feel safe again.

"Y/N?" Eunhyuk was staring at her restless figure.

Oh.

She was...in the control room. She didn't know where her feet was taking her. "I-I.." she took short breaths in between as he got up from his seat and came towards her, "Did you see the broadcast?"

Very carefully, he put his hands on her shoulders and slowly pulled her in the room. "Yes, I did." he said and made her sit on a chair. She was looking at his face, still having difficulty to breathe. He looked at her hands and then back to her face. Y/N's eyes were fixed on him. He slowly took her hands and held them together. Eunhyuk sat down on a chair nearby, realizing how tight she was holding his hands. She...needed time to calm down.

As she was slowly calming down, she looked down at their hands clasped together and back at his face. He was observing her again.

And yes, she was blushing...again. This..was happening way often now, wasn't it?

She looked around the room and asked, "Where...Where's Eunyu?"
