Chapter 2 (The bully)

"Catch him!, don't let him escape!"shouted an angry Lad,it was Rux. There were bullying Ethan and just immediately they losed their guard, Ethan punched him heavily on his face and took to his heel. It was after school in Macdonald high school,Rux and his gang wanted to teach Ethan some lesson.

Ethan ran as fast as he could,he was a very good at it,on his full speed he was brought down by a careless motorcycle driver and he felled down woefully. The driver drove off without any remorse to check on his victim,The gang caught up with Ethan and dragged him up despite his injury,there was blood on his knee.

He was so beaten up to the extent that he couldn't get up to his feet ,he was in pains. He was later dragged home by some students who saw him on the road. Uncle Rufous treated him locally,there was no money for him to send him to hospital.

Ethan was absent in school for a week before resuming, he was better now. He was still afraid to go back but he didn't have much of an option."Hey bro what happened?, you were absent from school for a week, that's very unlike you"De Angelo concerningly asked Ethan. Ethan was surprised, though De Angelo was not his enemy but both were not much of a friends. Like they once said"Two captains can't control a ship". Both were model figures in the school, you are either a fan of Ethan or fan of De Angelo. They were not rivals but still there were not friends.

"Yeah,I had an accident"Ethan replied. He never told anyone that he was beaten up,he always feel ashamed of himself that he couldn't defend himself. "Sorry man,you must be careful,drivers these days are very careless"De Angelo replied as he left for his destination.

During the school lunch time, Ethan saw Rux and his friends and wanted to avoid them but they have already seen him and immediately went to pick on him. "Hey white boy,you seem alright to me"Gaius the lanky one speak while laughing."I don't want any problem please"Ethan replied trying to hide his fear. He was very afraid they will beat him up in front of the whole students.

"You should have known that before you called the quit"Rux rudely sounded. He was still with an eye bruise from what Ethan did to him. Just when it seemed like Ethan will have another beating of his life,De Angelo came and defended him"Rux let him be"he gently asked." Hmmm, another golden boy, you wanna play hero Michael"Rux replied mockingly.

Rux was the very bad apple of Macdonald high school but still De Angelo have always fancied his fighting chances against him. He knew that one on one,even Ethan will beat Rux up but he always surround himself with his boys. Immediately the boys rushed to beat Ethan,De Angelo swung a feet on of Gaius neck and he felled down painfully, immediately Ethan made use of the diversion to hit Rux in his eyes again, the same spot he had bruises. Rux was in pain and couldn't see instantly,the two boys then took they heel and hid somewhere around the school until dismissal, they were very afraid.

They later went home together,they promised themselves to have each others back. At home,De Angelo was informed that his father was stabbed to death in prison,it was a sad news for him,he cried and cried but nobody was there to console him. At this perilous time he was with Ethan and his guardian Mr Rufous. Texas street was a stone throw from Humphrey street hence both Ethan and De Angelo always go to school together and also back from school. The two together stand more chance against Rux and his gang.

Rux is an orphan who have been under foster care. He is a huge boy by appearance and was also very stubborn. Rux hated Ethan and De Angelo and swore that he will surely deal with them. Rux was also a low level drug trafficker who also in many occasions abuses this drugs. Rux since fifteen had been the Humphrey and Texas marijuana supplier. He was a survivor who can do anything to make money. He dreams to be the country highest supplier. He used his gang members to exploit and expand his business. He was now a loyal customer of sir Bobby Muffy,a drug dealer that supplies the whole Nairobi town. Rux has been planning on how to take his revenge on Ethan and De Angelo,he wanted to make them pay for humiliating him in front of the school.

Ethan and De Angelo dream of attending the Las gelas University ,a popular university in Manhattan County. It was really an expensive school but still was one of the best around. They knew that for them to be admitted they have to be on scholarship.

The University always conduct a sports and academic competitions in which they award the two best students from each category with a scholarship. It was the only hope for the two friends who wanted more than settle for the rumbles and haggard life that the Nairobi town can offer. The competitions were for the outgoing classes,hence Ethan and De Angelo were preparing themselves all round for the competition.

Two days before the competition, after they sports practice as their were heading home seven boys attacked them and gave them the beating of their life "Fuck you white boy"one of them sounded as they ran leaving the two boys in severe pains. There were later taken to hospital by passerbys. There were unconscious for six days and when they woke up it was a sad story for them.

" Good morning sir"Weak Ethan greeted while on the bed.as he tried to adjust himself,he was still thinking on how he got there. It was at that juncture that he realized that he was meant to be in a competition in two days time."Sir please, what is today's date"he asked the doctor panickingly "this is 7th July"the doctor replied. It was a huge blow for him,he has lost the chance to challenge for a slot for the University scholarship. It was also same for De Angelo when he heard about it.

They were later discharged and on they way home Ethan started to ponder on why he has not seen his guardian Mr Ruffos since he was admitted. He immediately shun the thought and credited to him not being healthy enough. On his way to his apartment he noticed a familiar figure on a particular wall that have always been used as a poster site. As he drew near,what he saw chattered him, alas it was an obituary post of sir Ruffos,his guardian.
