There was never a dull moment with kids around. It was why Jacob had moved out immediately after graduation into the cheapest place he could find. 

Sharing a room with Tommy had been hard enough in high school. There was no way he would have been able to handle that with a night shift schedule. At the time, he had thought that he would just be there while training to get into the police academy but then he kept failing his stupid physical fitness test. He had really believed he wasn't going to make it out of there for a while. 

And he might not have if not for Gwen. She had helped steer him on the right track for fixing his training regimen.

It was all for the best though. If he hadn't stayed as long as he did, he wouldn't have been able to meet all of his friends. Their group had changed a lot since he first met them. They lost Marcus but gained a lot more.
