363 It Isn't The Same

Laney came home and plopped herself on the couch next to Richard, startling him out of his thoughts. He hadn't even heard her come in. 

"Thanks for watching Karina so I could spend some time with Lissy today. You did a good job."

"…even though I couldn't get her to go to sleep?"

"That one's on me. I didn't factor her needing a lullaby into things. You couldn't have known," she said generously. "Do you want to take Lissy home next time so I can put her to sleep?"

That would be the easy way out but it wouldn't fix his problem of needing to figure out how to handle his daughter on his own. "No, I need to get used to it. But if you could record some of those for me, I would appreciate it."

"No problem. And thanks for being so good with Lissy, playing games with her and all. I know you're only doing it because you're bored but I still appreciate it."
