187 I Am Sorry You Are Having A Hard Time

Larry would not be upset right now if he did not care about Perry's feelings. It took a special kind of person to care about a computer program's feelings. 

"Is that enough?" Larry asked tiredly. "You're going to spend your whole life in here with only me as company. I can take your core personality programming with me when I retire or quit but that won't change things much. 

"I won't live forever but you could with your ability to infinitely expand your code. There is so much you can do and you're learning more all the time. You could probably hack anything if you wanted to, given enough time. You're amazing, Perry, and you shouldn't be stuck taking care of a building and a socially awkward old loser like me." 

"You are not a loser!" 

"I appreciate your defensiveness but I really am. I couldn't keep my wife happy and had to program a friend for myself. That's peak loser right there."
